1. I showed up around 1:30 and bounced the entire night. I think I had a total of around 15 friends there that night (some of them are only Twilo friends and some not) and I was the *ONLY* one of my friends that closed it out. Not even raver_mania stayed to bounce with me. Anyway, I am thinking I need to meet some new friends because I always like closing out SND and my friends seem to be going the opposite direction.

Oh yes, I agree, the last track Sasha layed down was amazing. You might think it's hard to dance with the lights completely on in Twilo but that wasn't the case - lost myself

completely until Sasha suddenly stopped the music and went and sat down while the crowd dissipated...

dirtyslapper - didn't I meet you Friday night? (raver_mania introduced us). I think you were dancing to the left of the booth behind the first set of poles at the end? Or maybe not.

  2. I have to disagree. I don't think Sasha's live birthday webcast from Ibiza is all that. I've seen him plenty of times in Twilo and there were nights that completely outdid this webcast. To put the nail on the head, I think that the webcast is too mellow. Yes, there are some parts that are very progressive and there's some hard trance but have you heard Sasha when he's on? Not if you think this set is the most amazing Sasha set you've heard. 2001 is a new year . It's a new year of SND. Let's all make it to as many SND's @ Twilo as we can and then we'll ask if the webcast is the most amazing thing we've heard (i.e. his performance when Digweed left early in June was fuckin' on. NOW that was an amazing night with Sasha closing the night from 5AM until 10AM)...

  3. So...what did you all think? To anyone that was at the SND in November, do you think the SND last Friday was better or worse than the November performance?

Personally, I think their sets were definitely not as good as their November sets. I mean, in November, Digweed was amazingly progressive with each tracking building up from absolutely nothing to completely chaos. This time though, I think

Digweed was definitely a lot more mellow.

I remember often just standing on the dancefloor and looking around because I didn't feel like dancing. And, Sasha was

the same - very ethereal and light. Dunno what's up with him although there was a track he played just before he ended the night that was amazing! I lost myself with the lights on and about 200 zombies around me and some guy literally lying on the dancefloor in his hole...

  4. I'm there. Let's hope SND are a little more harder than they were last Friday. I think it was the mellowest they've been all year.

But, it was definitely great. I lost myself

on the dancefloor about 6 or so times and dance my ass off!

    Digweed.

  5. Funny, I just did the exact opposite move.

Went from DC to NYC and am having a ball.

Of course, NYC doesn't really compare

to DC but I had fun while I was in DC.

For awhile, it was Wednesdays and Mango!

@ Nation, sometimes Thursdays @ Platinum

(although I really didn't get much out of the pretentious crowd there) and definitely

Fridays @ Nation when I wasn't making the drive up the NJ TPKE for Twilo...

  6. Well, yeah, I kind of assumed that we were talking about domestic nights out. But, if we wanna talk about foreign nights out, I think Oakenfold @ Pacha (Perfecto Closing party) in Ibiza on Tuesday September 12 was fuckin' amazing. He got on a 2:30AM and when we left he was still spinning at 8:30AM! He doesn't do this in the states - 2-3 hours maximum. And, that night, he dropped so many amazing tunes.

I was there with raver_mania and 2 other

friends. Read about it, if you'd like:

  9. I lived in the DC area for 2 1/2 years

and in the city itself for a year up until

December 1 this year. DC is great for being such a small city having such a large draw from all types of ethnicities. That's what I loved about DC. If you've got fear, stay away. The city is doing just fine w/out you.

  10. I think I've got 3 and they are all

at Twilo. The 3 year anniversary of SND

in April, the 2 year anniversary of Carl Cox

in July and New Year's Day with SND.

New Year's Day (Twilo roll) had a great vibe and SND

were relentless on the decks. The 3 year

b-day of SND had all of my buddies together

for the first time in long time and SND were

again relentless. As for the Carl Cox night,

I met my girlfriend there, enough said.

  11. Well, I don't live in DC anymore frown.gif

But, raver_mania should know of Cafe Asia

(remember getting drunk off our asses

on my birthday???) very well. It's on

M and 19TH, just down from 5 and 18TH ST Lounge. The food is wonderful (try the ravioli dumplings as an appetizer. Amazing!) and it's cheap too (best part).

Too bad someone didn't own a big loft apt or some shit...you guys could bounce afterwards and burn those carbs right off...

    Digweed.

  12. Don't know what you guys are smoking but the Twilo anthem of the year has to be

Saints and Sinner's "Pushin' Too Hard".

Let's see, Digweed, Sasha, Carl Cox, and Tong all dropped it (more than once) and just recently, Mr. Cox put down the Futureshock mix on December 01.

    My personal favorite though?

    Trisco's "Muzak"

    or

    Underworld's "Cowgirl" (Bedrock Mix)

  13. I'm there. I went last month

and fuckin' loved it. It was one of the

best I've ever heard and the music

    was almost entirely brand.

As for the laser show, it's this Friday

@ Twilo for the Sven Vath b-day. No mention

    of it for SND:

    #### FRIDAY DECEMBER 15TH ####

Join Twilo, Paper Magazine and Final Home in celebrating

THE COCOON NYC 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

    SVEN VATH

    FRANK LORBER

    RICHARD BARTZ (live)

And featuring the return of the spectacular laser display

    Friday December 22nd

    SASHA/JOHN DIGWEED

    SEAN CUSICK

  14. As soon as I leave DC it gets good! Damn, it

sounds like 5 was fun - great review.

There were cameras Friday night at Deep Dish

as well. Not sure what was going on but

they were mostly filming Dubfire mixing

while Sharam was on the dancefloor!

Next Friday will be Timo Maas/Graham/Alexander at Buzz...I wouldn't

miss it if I was in DC. As for me, a much needed clubbing break. No club a dub dub for me...

    ------------------

  15. I didn't think Friday night was all that.

We arrived around 1:20 and caught the last

30-40 minutes of Timo Maas. Although

some of his stuff was rocking, he kept

dropping into the doldrums of quiet, slow

house for seemed like an eternity (10-15 seconds). Then, he'd pick it up just

to quiet down again. He did drop Azzido de Bass' "Dooms Night" though.

As for Deep Dish, it was my first time hearing them in Twilo. I saw them in Seattle

in September and they were about as good

as they were Friday night. While there were

some times that I lost myself dancing my ass off, those times were too few (maybe 4-5). The rest of their sets were up and down (in terms of track genre) with everything from

funk house, to deep house, to progressive trance, to trance (they dropped Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" [The Quivver Mix]) and Steve Lawler's "Rizin'").

So, yes, it was a good night but not amazing.

Maybe the coolest part was seeing Sharam on

the dancefloor up front grooving with

    everyone...

    Digweed.
