  1. I didn't think Friday night was all that.

We arrived around 1:20 and caught the last

30-40 minutes of Timo Maas. Although

some of his stuff was rocking, he kept

dropping into the doldrums of quiet, slow

house for seemed like an eternity (10-15 seconds). Then, he'd pick it up just

to quiet down again. He did drop Azzido de Bass' "Dooms Night" though.

As for Deep Dish, it was my first time hearing them in Twilo. I saw them in Seattle

in September and they were about as good

as they were Friday night. While there were

some times that I lost myself dancing my ass off, those times were too few (maybe 4-5). The rest of their sets were up and down (in terms of track genre) with everything from

funk house, to deep house, to progressive trance, to trance (they dropped Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" [The Quivver Mix]) and Steve Lawler's "Rizin'").

So, yes, it was a good night but not amazing.

Maybe the coolest part was seeing Sharam on

the dancefloor up front grooving with

    everyone...

    Digweed.

  2. If you are talking about the set that

was webcast on his website (www.sasha.co.uk)

then there's a guy on the Global Underground chat boards (forum = Twiloland) that

put together the entire track listing.

All I know is that Sasha drops one of my

faves towards the end - the Futureshock

    Mix of Underworld's "Cowgirl"!

  3. I went to Ibiza to this the main week

of closing parties this September with

my best friends. It was fuckin'

amazing - great sun, great people,

great DJs and great candy! We got to

see Judge Jules, Dave Seaman and

Paul Van Dyk, to name a few.

I even put together a journal and a collection of photographs from our trip. The URL is below.

I've seen PVD 2 times in Twilo and each time

it was the same. I mean, yeah, I give him credit for his stamina and his fans which never leave but he basically plays the same shit. Of the 4 times total I've seen him,

he's only amazed me once and that wasn't even here in the states but in Ibiza for this year's Cream closing party @ Amnesia.

NOW, that was brilliance. Thus, no more

PVD for me in the states.

As for Oakey, the same old same old. 2 hour set for fans that adore him way more. I was there in July @ the Roseland and was quite disappointed. Sandra Collins kicked his ass that night (yeah, I know he was kind of sick). But, I saw Oakey in Ibiza the Tuesday before the Cream closing party and that was the best Oakey set I've ever heard. He held nothing back and his set was

much longer...I mean much longer. He got on @ 2:30AM and when we left @ 8:30AM, he was still fuckin' spinning. Digweed.

  5. My review of Scott Henry @ Buzz last night.

    It was on folks!

Scott Henry @ Buzz November 17

    ------------------------------

The crew last night consisted of Krish, Brian, Pete and myself. Knowing that Derrick Carter was to spin from half past 2 until close and that Scott Henry was opening until Mr. Carter hit the decks, we decided to arrive early to hear the entire set from our favorite local DJ. I truly believe it was the earliest I have ever been to Buzz. When we arrived around quarter of midnight, only the front room was open and it was quite packed. But, soon thereafter, the staff opened the main room and folks flooded the main floor.

Now, before I proceed in discussing Mr. Henry's performance, we definitely need a preface. Since I am moving to Manhattan at the end of this month (Yes, Twilo, here I come.), yesterday was my last night at Buzz for what could be a long time. Thus, you can imagine my excitement when we found out Scott Henry was spinning. All that needs to be said is that Mr. Henry's set was the most amazing set I've heard in the last two and half years I've been in DC.

When we arrived on the main floor, the named superstar was already spinning some amazing hard trance. With my blue photons and my silver 'fly' glasses, I was instantly sent flying and so were my mates. Now, the reason I love Scott Henry so much is that his track selections are always dead on. I cannot even remember a single instance when I have heard him spin something I did not like. And last night, it was as if Mr. Henry could read my mind. He reached in and took my fantasy playlist directly from me and grooved all of my faves, including Saints and Sinner's "Pushing Too Hard", Simon's "Free At Last", Timo Maas' "Ubik" (Brian was all over this one), Trisco's "Muzak" (What an amazing rollercoaster ride of disco-trance!) and X-Press 2's "AC/DC". But, after all those tracks, I felt there was something missing and for some reason or another, Mr. Henry knew it. Thus, the track that sent me, my friends and all of the other folks on the floor truly ballistic was the Futureshock Mix of Underworld's "Cowgirl". I mean damn, there was a point during "Cowgirl" that I turned around to get a glimpse at what Mr. Henry was admiring and what I saw was a scene I will reminisce about for a long time to come. The dancefloor was a tumultuous wave of bouncers that had been overtaken by total bliss - a total bliss created by DC's greatest DJ, Scott Henry.

  6. Tonite is my last weekend living in DC

There's a full blown add in this week's

    City Paper that advertises Oakenfold

at 5. So, it's true and not unheard of.

I saw Sandra Collins and Kimball Collins

twice in the same night in Seattle. Once

at a club before they actually did a rave

    later on that night...

  8. Well, Dirtyslapper, Raver_Mania and I were

indeed at Mango! Wednesday. But, I wasn't

impresssed with PvD's performance. Lackluster at best. I mean, anyone can

    play records!

I heard him @ Twilo in July. I didn't like it. Then,I heard him at Amnesia in Ibiza in September for the Cream Closing party. Fuckin' amazing. Now, I am going again in about 4 hours to Twilo. We'll see!

BTW, raver_mania was way pissed Wednesday smile.gif

  9. Hey yo...who all went to see David Holmes

@ Centrofly last Saturday? I went and

was surprised to hear better than expected

bumpin' tunes. Oh yeah, he dropped

one of my favorites around 3AM but

I have no clue what the name of the song/artist is even though I've heard

it a million times. It's got a hard

beat (like Timo Maas' "Ubik") and

an amazing build up that makes the

    crowd go nuts. Anyone?

Yes, Raver_Mania and I will DEFINITELY

be at Mango! November 4 for PvD. That is,

if he doesn't have a problem with

    his working permit wink.gif
