Inspiration can't be waited on... it's a spur of the moment thing. If you sit around looking for it, it'll never come -- that only breeds trite writing and emotionally empty lyrics (think N'Sync... lol). For me, I try to carry around my little journal... when I write, it's usually pretty free-form poetry, but when I go back and look at it I can find the grain of truth that is within the writing and use it in writing lyrics... Well, I don't know if he's my favorite person in the world or anything, but I do have to give credit where credit is due: the Marshall Mathers LP was far superior in substance and writing to the Slim Shady LP (which was all written by Dre). On the whole I'm not sure how to take him all the time, but I do know that he can write some pretty tight rhymes and I have to respect him to just pushing on through and doing his thing despite all criticism. All in all I don't necessarily agree with all his views, but I do respect his ability as a rapper. I mean, all the best rappers (or musicians, writers, directors, or artists in general) aren't always the most popular... and the best songs more often than not are NOT the ones that make the Z-100 cut.
