  9. depends on what type of place you wanna stay at and how many people will be with you. there's gonna be 5 of us, so we decided a condo would be the best for us. check craigslist and vbro.com for short-term vacation rentals. dunno about hotels though... the last time i stayed at hotel for WMC was years ago. we found a pretty decent deal at the Crescent Hotel on Ocean Dr. though.

  14. Friday, 30 November 2007, Physical Education brings you Ovum Recordings artist... DOZIA Every city's club scene has its secret weapon. New York has Joe Claussell, Toronto has Freaky Flow and Sneak, San Fran has Mark Farina and Philadelphia has Dozia Blakey. You might not know him, but his music is familiar to DJs and club people worldwide. Tunes like the hypnotic 'Pop Kulture', the smoothness of 'Steal Away' or the deepness of 'Shape Shifter', has made him a household name in the industry. In 1987, Dozia started his first residency at the Black Banana, a private and trendy club in Philadelphia. The clientele was the who's who of Philadelphia. Dozia bartended as well as dj'd, mixing records and drinks. After building his celebrity following, he started what was to be a legendary Philly party called Vagabond. This was a party that moved from club to club spreading the deep house and techno "Steal Away" sounds all around the Philly scene. 4 years running, the party included DJs Josh Wink, King Britt and Boy Blake At the end of Vagabond, Dozia went on to continue legendary status at the infamous 'Back to Basics' parties at Silk City. There, he and cohort King Britt brought the sounds of sweet soul and acid jazz to Philly. Dozia also played a few dates with Digable Planets and started doing remixes and production for labels. His first remix was one for IRMA records Italy for "All I Want to Do" by Deep Aural Penetration. Soon after he started making his own tracks for his own imprint 'Nou Lion Recordings'. The Aura EP with King Britt, "Steal Away" and "Shape Shifter" brought Nou Lion and Dozia into the spotlight worldwide. Then "Pop Kulture" on OVUM RECORDINGS gained Dozia much respect from DJ Sneak, Doc martin, and Trevor Rockliffe as a world class producer. He most recently remixed Danny Tenaglia's "Elements" for the upcoming Twisted Secrets compilation. He also recently completed a remix of David Alvarado's "Klugh" released on Ovum Recordings. After playing the Winter Music Conference 7 years in a row, Dozia started to travel, spreading the sound of Philadelphia. Playing regularly in Atlanta, Florida, New York and Germany he is now a new name to watch out for. along with resident Dirty Gym Teachers: Jenn Louie Darrel Asbury Jamie Johnson Frantic @ Post 153 * on 24th btwn Oregon & Passyunk * Philadelphia 11pm til real fuckin late! enrollment fee waived til 2:00am drink specials til 2:00am www.myspace.com/physicaleducationphilly
  15. WKDU Electronic Music Marathon The electronic music marathon has been a fund raising activity at WKDU 91.7fm Philadelphia for the past 9 years. We have raised money in the past for numerous charities both in and around the Phildelphia area. Most recently we raised over $4,000 last year for Musicopia/Strings for Schools. To date, we have raised over $20,000 for both local and national charities.. all with one goal.. to make music the key to a better world! Some of our past charities have included Philabundance, PhiladelphiaFIGHT, NOVA, Philly PAWS, Village of Arts and Humanities, and the Red Cross. All EMM performers are required to raise at least $50 in sponsorship money, which will be donated to the designated charity. If you would like to sponsor a DJ, you can make a donation via pay pal account wkduemm@gmail.com please specify which DJ(s) you would like to support so we know to whom we should credit those funds. Our charity this year, will be Philadelphia FIGHT, just as it was the first year of the EMM. Philadelphia FIGHT (FIGHT) is a comprehensive AIDS service organization providing primary care, consumer education, advocacy and research on potential treatments and vaccines. FIGHT was formed as a partnership of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and clinicians, who joined together to improve the lives of people living with the disease. http://www.fight.org/ Tune in all weekend long to 91.7fm in philadelphia and www.wkdu.org worldwide. Thanks to all for wanting to be a part of this charitable event! see you.... dancing! - jenn louie, roo, zara EMMM 2007 Lineup THURSDAY, 18 OCTOBER 3-6p Jenn Louie (show slot) 6-7p Roo 7-8p Jamie Morris 8-9p Ripp 9-10p Darby Jones 10-11p Chuck van Zyl 11-12m Joe pascal FRIDAY, 19 OCTOBER 12-1a Sunjay 1-2a Argo 2-3a Vincent G 3-4a Maximum Shine 4-5a DJ Kik 5-6a Bill-E 6-7a Rude Girl 7-8a wkdu dj 8-9a DJ Tommy 9-10a DJ Fiction 10-11a Jon Carrelli 11-12n Jeff Heart 12-1p James Manley 1-2p DJ Dirty 2-3p Radar Jammer 3-4p Solobuns 4-5p Kevin Kong 5-6p Kevin Rucker 6-7p Junior 7-8p lil Dave 8-9p Joey Breakdown 9-10p Darrel Asbury 10-11p sk101 11-12m Jesse Merlin SATURDAY, 20 OCTOBER 2007 12-1a Hectic 1-2a Anton Chasm 2-3a Freedom 3-4a Zara 4-5a Imri 5-6a kil0byte 6-7a Wally C 7-8a Karoshi 8-9a Russell3000 9-10a G-Drive 10-11a Ryan Coote 11-12n Deann Dylema 12-1p Clayton the Chemist 1-2p Carl Michaels 2-3p the Baraness 3-4p Del 4-5p Magin Boo 5-6p Brian McBri 6-7p Intergalactic Faiere Funk 7-8p Greg Mynd 8-9p Sir Ruff 9-10p Seiphonic 10-11p Nysus 11-12m Sixtwentyone SUNDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2007 12-1a LLuck 1-2a Scott Kelly 2-3a Matty P 3-4a DJ Zip 4-5a KT 5-6a Moo B 6-7a Khal 7-8a Soultree 8-9a Otis the Rigger 9-10a Frankie Vibe 10-11a Al Knight 11-12n Willyum, 12-1p Rob Paine, 1-2p Summerjoy, DJ Dennis 2-3p Jamie Johnson 3-4p Mama w the Drama 4-5p Linda Leigh 5-6p Starchild 6-7p Jon Gill 7-8p Maggy Thump 8-9p Joe Kopasek 9-10p Dozia 10-11p GASM Recordings presents: DStar & Mason with 11-12m MCs Armanni & Sharpness www.myspace.com/wkduemm
