  1. ok spots that occassionally get some solid talent...but mainly a "be seen" rather than "scene" really
  2. (preface: i know this topic started as a discussion strictly about clubs, but i believe there is more to life than clubbing) the actual process of immersing yourself in water at the beach may only be good in the summer, but there are plenty of other things to do in/around the ocean that are solid year round, try exercising a bit, you can't beat a good run or bike ride on the boardwalk or the beach, or if you're into more of a sedentary activity, why not enjoy the natural beauty that is a coastline, can't really get that in nyc now can you, and if its cold, wrap yourself up in a blanket and enjoy a sunset, or sunrise for that matter, and maybe once try sleeping before the sun comes up, its a totally different experience... as for the carribean or italy, sounds good to me, you paying...unfortunately some people do not have a trust fund to rest their weary heads on out here (as shocking as this fact may seem) and therefore have to work for a living, not to mention the fact that most people have families that they like to see ever now and again and moving thousands of miles away is not real conducive to such activities then again if you are simply down for partying all night into the early hours of the morning and then waisting the entirety of day sleeping off a good dose of drugs, then sure...la sux...go hang out with "real party animals" in new york... and when you do, gimme a ring when one of those noreasters comes rolling through and dumps feet of snow on you in one day, when the wind rips through the alleyways created by all those tall buildings and chills to the bone no matter how much fat or fur you are carrying, then tell me how boring 75 and sunny seems...some times change for the sake of change is not all its cracked up to be
  3. Let's see...yesterday, I looked out my bedroom window and it was absolutely gorgeous, I get outside it was atleast 75 degrees by 10:30am...check the temp in NYC...hmmm...a balmy 45 degrees...you sure are right, California sux...
  4. weyes reminds me of a new school herbalist... always giving the ball a good shove, even if it is straight up hill!
  5. actually funkyfreshdc... the young lady above...rothko...had it right the first time...the name actually comes from bums that sit next to traintracks and watch the trains roll by, and i got that straight from the horse's mouth (an interview w/ Irvine Welsh i read)...but that is not to say that there aren't any connections to what you referenced above

  7. the pizza was good (no blue ribbon winner) but let's not forget i brought one rock i brought two rocks i brought three rocks (wouldn't that have been a sight) i ate a chicken fried steak i ate a sonic burger and then i washed it all down with a glass of vodka, no ice, no mixer, just a tall glass of vodka -------------------------------------------------- and that's the bottom line! oh, and one thing i forgot to include in the summary above was the amazonian women that invaded our place of habitation for those few minutes compliments of dc and the boys... those were some big bitches! but not as big as the Rock
  8. my night/day/night involved, in no specific order, two hotel rooms, a couple of cab rides, a garage, a whole lotta dancing , searching for lost keys for hours , finding lost keys (no better way to start the year), a blue ribbon artichoke heart dip, lots of great conversations with good friends, lots of not so good conversations with cracked out good friends, a ride from a spanish dj, and two bites of a slice of domino's pizza (in n out sounds so much better)
  9. actually i should have just copied your intro, because i'm not going to any of those tired arse mega clubs and i won't be hitting up any underground spots (though not because of their lack of undergroundedness but more because of my lack of fundedness), so i will be chillin w/ my super cool friends in a super cool hotel room or two located at a super cool venue that shall remain anonymous however, i will be selling pre-sale tickets to this event for anyone interested, the cost is a mere $2,500 which entitles you to watch me and my super cool friends party through a super cool hole in the super cool walls that i will personally punch for you with my super cool hand and if i don't see you through our super cool walls, have a safe and super cool new year's eve celebration kids
  10. That has got to be the quote of the year, I'm writing that one down...as if drug users ever had a good name to be tarnished by those damn raver kids! as to your question of naked (please be aware that the following statement is coming from an anti-naked supporter)... not much good house music, lots of g-d out muscleheads and plenty of plastic women in tight clothing...so if you did just move out here from ny, then you'll probably fit right in
  11. ahhh the joys of retail...i once worked at a store that was open for business virtually 24/7 and one year i had to work christmas day then new year's eve until midnight (convenient) and then open the next day at 8am...that was one of the best holiday breaks i ever had
  12. here's the problem, you are coming to town the day after every person and there brother has just sworn off durgs, alcohol, partying, etc. and would feel like complete wastes of space and air if they couldn't keep those new year's resolutions for atleast ONE week... sorry to squash your buzz!! if i hear of anything i'll put it up for your consideration though
  13. and rockman...how bout you loan me trish stratus for a couple rounds of "wrestling" with the bendable green man
  14. no matter how hot they are, some one some where is tired of their shite...words to live by and to answer your question directly...who isn't, that's the nature of a lady, a royal pain in the arse, but aside from the occasional childish and shady labels assigned to me, i think i'm doing fine...thanks for asking
  15. no you don't...the silicone leaks...the wrinkles (no matter how many tucks you get) finally show...but no matter how hard you scrub em, you can't get rid of that bee-yatch attitude!
  16. come now, we all know who really created the humpty dance... brought to you by those sex-packets men known as digital underground w/ the big beaked front man humpty hump
  17. my goodness, is it already that time of year again... where has the year gone do you believe in fate, cause allz i know is a1a was just in the house (well, not my house, but karma's) recently, clearly an indication that we need to pack the bags and head south (east) for the winter who's driving?
  18. 1. roni size and reprazent - best damn d n b gig around (though k&d aren't bad either) 2. carl cox - just too talented not to be included, plus he can act 3. on the local tip - marquez wyatt (sp?), tony watson, and of course dlish
  19. you must check it out...it's right next to spundae...perhaps you've heard of its alternate name "arena"...for the most part it is known as a gay club (which is why the promoters didn't put the name arena on the flyer) but thursday nights it blows up hetrosexual style...they had keoki last week (not really my bag) and d:fuse a couple weeks earlier...if you like chucky feelgood you should definitely consider bucking up and visiting this not so new venue
  20. i've seen this "private party" advertised on two different message boards, so obviously it's not that private, plus 125 clams for sunset cheese...i'd rather pay to see oakensux!
  21. in any event i'll be front and center for the dlishcious portion of the evening...look for the bouncing green guy
  22. but which is better
  23. have they straightened out the whole "no grooving" policy at star shoes...because as much as i love the beats of david "don't call me crockett" hickey, i'm not sure i can resist the urge to shake my money maker in a place that bars such activities
