  1. Heya: Looks like I'm going to be in the city from today, the 12th, till this Sunday, the 18th. I'm from Miami and haven't kept up with the scene much since I left NYC about 5 years ago. What's still out there worth doing these days? Any major events hitting the city this week? Generally, I lean toward funky/groovy house, but am open to anything from progressive to hip-hop if the party's worth it. I need to find reason to sleep my days away!! Thanks in advance, Rene' Little D, you around???
  2. So, I owe Loraine a drink, do I...? Interesting...
  3. Sure. Every club has its niche. Big deal? Mafia people/gangsta rappers make good money -- money that works as well as everyone else's -- but the neighbors still bitch when they move into the 'hood. And that's why people are talking 'bout exiling EXILE. If it turns out to be anything even close to what it's /trying/ to be, I'm sure that I'll be doing the same in short time.
  4. Let me know how the guest list goes for Papp, Hector. If not, I'll try and find a way around the line. Rene'
  5. Get Lawler's ass finally in there. Casselle (as per my request before). Howells. Those guys. Screw it. Have another Renaissance party; I'm /still/ trying to recover from the 4th of July! (Breakbeats would be fun every now and then, though I don't know if anyone would want the 14 and under crowd flocking this way with their arsenol of glow-wear and whatnot. Let Edgar and Psychosis drop some beats some night. They've got it in 'em.) Rene'
  6. To tell you the truth, all I saw was geo coming in with info and people jumping on him/doing the same kind of crap I thought we were trying to purge this bboard of. Don't bitch about attacks and then jump in and incite someone /to/ respond. Least that's my very opinionated opinion. Whatever; as always, maturity reigns supreme. Rene'
  7. *YAWN* Sick. Going to bed (yes, at this hour). Should be better by the weekend. If not, then I intend to heat my system up enough during Lee's set to kill off whatever's left of my cold. I survive. (And that's the problem.) If anyone wants to hang, lemme know. Rene' 305.804.7766
  8. Who is attached to Liquid other than Kris, Danny? Just curious as to the "top notch" stuff?
  9. Shroomy> Told you. Love Tantra. DRINK and PLAY there, don't sit down for meals there. Pah! Rumi is enh. Hector> Talk to me about the weekend. I might have to get creative. Rene'
  10. It is a hard call, actually. Lawler's got quality down, and would guarantee that I'm at home before sunrise (seeing as I -do- have work the next day), but ... gut's telling me that Space is going to turn Halloween into something fun. Damn. Fuck. Rene'
  11. Sister's in town. One of her good friends was having a party in VIP. I objected through the entire car trip there, and then pretty much locked myself outside on the patio with Roland & Oscar G. Even just heading inside to see if people were ready to leave yet was painful. Heh. Exactly, D. Rene'

    Flemming

I am sorry to say that I got dragged to Space last night and had to endure the noise pumping out of the Blue Room for a good 4 hours or so until I was able to leave; for what it's worth, I am beginning to fear Trance music as a whole. Rene'

    Xp

Don't start. I was in a bad mood and bought a computer with ME pre-installed. Didn't hit me until about two weeks later. Then I got in a worse mood. Heh. Rene'
  14. Bummer. (Fucking FINALLY! Sheesh! House Music, Baby!) Rene'

    Xp

Anyone know if I can upgrade from ME to XP Pro? Or am I just royally fucked? Rene'
  16. Wait... Timo Maas? Ugly German guy or something? No way. I refuse to go hear someone spin that isn't at /least/ a 34-C and in a bikini! Screw that! Rene' (Meet up in VIP?)

    Rain??

Heh. Rain was actually open this Tuesday night for a party. Didn't have a liq. lic. yet, so the alcohol was free. Gotta love life! Rene'
  18. Repressed. Dire. Love both of those words. (Time to turn up the music now.) Rene'
  19. Ok. 10:30pm Sunday. Just got up about an hour ago after what turned out to be a -ROUGH- Saturday night. Had fun all the way around, though, and wanted to pass on thanks to people I encountered here and there, whether named or not. Tantra, crobar, and ... yes ... SPACE were all great. Period. But screw the prelims, cause I just want to talk about Deep Dish. Arrived at about 4:30am, got some disappointing news from Stacey, and was immediately off on a mission. (It's always the bad that hits first, ugh!) Dealt with my problems and then turned my attention on the DJ booth as I tried to gauge just how much of the set I'd already missed. Word was that Ali'd just taken the tables at around 3:00am, so things weren't all that bad; I had a lot of music waiting in store for me. Now. Granted. I am biased here. I /am/ a fan of theirs. That said, I loved every damn second of it all. (Surprised?) The music was tight, and both of the guys kept ugly control over the entire package -- never seeming to let anything stray even the slightest from the sound that was slowly evolving. What was nice to see, though, was the interplay during the night. I'm accustomed to the night simply taking two phases, Ali and then Sharam. The back and forth on Saturday, however, was nice. As for the music, I tended to enjoy the time from about 6:15 - 9:15 best (though I did get a kick out of the jazzy riffs at the end and, certainly, the final song); it was nice and dark and "beaty." Lot of stuff I couldn't identify, which is /also/ nice, and -- of course -- a clean dose of Madonna by Ali. Needless to say, it was one of, if not /THE/ best performance I've heard from the pair, and I'm thankful that I got to be part of it. (Even if I'm going to be paying for it for the next day or so.) To those of you that I didn't see at the event -- YOU LEFT TOO DAMN EARLY! Rene'
  20. Related question: What time are they going on and /until/ what time are they expected to -stay- on? I have to deal with a birthday that night and might have to be at crobar for the early evening. (I am, however, considering making the jump over to Space if there will be people to play with and some Sharam to listen to.) Rene'

    question?

Just a note -- you should /worry/ about a woman who begins posts with "I'm pretty sure all 32 of us who flew down" ... Heh. Screw it. Bring over Ashley Casselle. Me and all 20 of my fingers and toes will be there! Rene'
  22. Shit. crobar... I... uh... well, I know I was there, at least. The hard part's remembering what /happened/ from 2:00-5:00. Damn. Funny part is that I had a bunch of friends follow me over from Tantra. They never found me. Just learned yesterday that they were there until 4:00am looking for me. Music kicked (toward the end, at least). Perhaps I even danced. Rene' (I was there, right?)
  23. I beg to differ... Umm... isn't that how things normally work? (Also part of why life is generally cheaper prior to 12 b/c most people show up around 2 and the like, when the headliners are coming on.) I banked /on/ Deep Dish starting around 2:00 or so, which is why I showed at 2:30. Yes, DT starts early, but few others attempt 14+ hour sets the way he does. Should flow, yes. It's a shame if the headliners have to erase what's been dropped prior to their arrival. I was there, however, to see Deep Dish. I want to hear what they're dropping. They shouldn't be trapped into a vibe that they're not into, nor should they be pushed in a direction they don't want to go. My journey is with them (or, in our case, him). Yeah. What's with the track selection? It was NICE! And yes, it did flow, almost like one song... that got better the entire damn night long. (Loved the close, for instance. Stood there with little more than a smile on my face as people chanted "Sharam" over and over again.) Pah. At best, I'll give you being too "distracted" to pay attention to the music. I certainly had trouble talking to you through the back of <omitted's> head. *duck* Rene'
  24. No fucking shit. I thought we were through with this crap last fucking year when everyone was tearing apart Space and praising the opening of F-U-E-L. I said it then and I'll say it again; people are going to bitch. People come here /to/ bitch. It's like therapy. When left /without/ crap to do, they bitch about what's closest. Take it as a compliment that Space is mentioned so often. Like they said in the Howard Stern movie... the average fan listens for 2 hours, the average detractor listens for 4. Whatever. Unlike the masses, I manage to /continue/ to have fun when I go out to Space -- even when and if I have trouble at the door, etc. Unlike the masses, I don't let the "crap" weigh down on me all damn fucking week to the point that I feel the need to lead one-man protests outside the place on Wednesday nights. I get inside, hear the music, and forget about the rest. I am, and will remain, about the music. Rene'

    Edgar V

Had a buddy in town this past weekend and was able to take him to Space on Saturday. I was kinda pissed b/c he had an 8:00am flight and would have to miss out on the full impact of the club, but figured that he'd at least get a taste. Taste he did. Edgar was on for Oscar and took the helm at about 2:30... turned it into something nice. Not too fast, not too slow -- all kinds of fun to dance to. Anyhow, by 6:00am, my buddy was insisting on staying until noon and I had to literally drag him out of there (which was hard, all things considering). Regardless, we survived. Thanks, Edgar -- even if the people at the door claimed that your list ends at 11:00pm. Whatever. Rene'
