  1. SUNDAY RINSE in ASBURY PARK Unless you spend lots of time under a rock, you have heard about the renaissance happening in Asbury Park, New Jersey. There is a groundswell of renovation that is a strong sign of the good things things to come. Enter Harry's Roadhouse, the product of the forward vision of John Dorrian, an entrepreneur with successful ventures in both Miami (Rebar) and New York (Rebar and Suite 16). This venue is a full-service entertainment and dining facility, with large seating capacity, a big dancefloor, stage, and a 40,000 watt soundsystem to power it. The ambiance of Harry's is the perfect setting for a party as unique as the location: the Sunday Rinse. It is a place to shake off the remnants of your weekend through dance and good vibrations. The music is, in a word, HOUSE. Not the kind of 'progressive house' music that you hear on commercial radio, but deep, sexy and sophisticated house music. Add to that a sprinkling of sparkling classic disco, and we have us a tasty event. And, hopefully, the start of a new community within Asbury Park. The emphasis is not on pretense or drama, but on positive energy. It is a place to celebrate diversity and freedom and to truly be who you are. In addition to the music, there will be live percussion on stage, live performances and exhibits by local artists. In the tradition of Sunday tea dances, it is going to start at 5pm and swerve on up until midnight. This way everyone can get home nice and early for work the next day! There will be great food available as well as fabulous drink specials. Come sit down for dinner then dance it off! The music will be provided by Adam Kenter (aka DJ Aqua). He's resident DJ at MIX in Long Branch, New Jersey, and brings with him years of experience both locally and in NYC. 4. FOR SOME REASON, THE POST DID NOT SEND CORRECTLY AND CERTAIN PARTS WERE DELETED, OTHERS DUPLICATED. It was NOT intended to say that clubs are more focused on their e- that was an unfortunate (and kind of funny) error in the transmission. That sentence was supposed to read as follows: "Sometimes clubs are more focused on their dress code than they are on their vibe. This party's all about the vibe." Read thru the rest and you'll get the point. Watch this board for further postings. See you there, The Rinse Crew

  7. big steve- thank you for your positivity. a glimmer of hope!!! watch this space... i'll keep everyone posted as to the launch details. thanks again. aqua
  8. hey you- i'm spinning @ Mix tonight starting @ 10. it's a new theme called 'exotica': lots of red lights, candles, incense, tapestries, live percussion etc. just something to shake things up a bit... come say hello & let's talk! aqua
  9. that was meant for njangel. ibclubbin- thanks! aqua
  10. i b clubbin- have you ever been to Mix on any wednesday thru saturday? that's the type of crowd i'm going for. and all the monmouth u. students: god bless 'em, but most just wouldn't get the vibe anyway, so i agree with you. howw aboutt we all just wait and see what happens? and how about maybe giving me some SUPPORT for trying to breathe some fresh air into the scene down here instead of being so positively NEGATIVE? peace & love.
  11. thanks for defending me, whoever you are! believe me, the small-minded people out there only serve to make my vision and motivation stronger. asbury park is coming back. the venue is DOPE. there will definitely be a large gay contingent at this party, as AP has a thriving alternative community. and the way it usually goes is: where the gays go, the straights will soon follow. so say what you want about my music, my party, or even asbury park. it only makes me stronger. and HI ZEE!!!
  12. so when was the last time anyone was actually IN asbury? d you think the owners of some of the most successful clubs in Miami & NYC would waste their time on this project it it were not guaranteed to do wel? again, people, open your minds and try something new. you might just surprise yourselves!
  13. ok, i digress. maybe my comments were a bit harsh, but that's what forums are all about. and until we all open up our minds to try new things, we'll be stuck in the same old scenes and mind-sets. we're not sheep, we're supposed to be the free thinkers of the underground. let's act accordingly and SUPPORT the scene, not slander it before it has a chance to start.
  14. first off: i've been to the soundfactory more times than i could ever begin to count, BUT: the soundfactory is dirty because: people go there for no other reason (usually) than to get fucked up out of their minds. the soundfactory is stale because: it's been the same dirty thing for at least the past 4 years. the crowd used to be beautiful and freindly. now it's ugly, barely 21 and clueless. but that's just my opinion. long story short: i'm too old for a scene like that and am looking to create a party of STYLE and SUBSTANCE for like-minded people. hope i didn't piss off too many 'factory heads'. peace.
  15. **new club**new community**new jersey**sundays** SUNDAY RINSE IN ASBURY PARK! It's not just a party, but the start of a community. It's a place where fellow music lovers from all over can converge every Sunday to share in the music and the vibe. All at a reasonable Sunday hour, too: starting at approx 5pm and going 'till midnight. Live performances, live percussion, art exhibits, and don't forget GREAT food & drinks! The owners of Rebar (Miami & NYC) and Suite 16 (NYC) are opening a big new space in the rebounding Asbury Park, and it is a beautiful & unique spot. The club was built around its spacious dance floor and 40,000 watt soundsystem. The architecture inside is of exposed wood beams, brick walls & really high ceilings, giving the space a sanctuary-like feeling. The mission is to bring exactly what the name implies: a place to 'rinse' yourself off of the weekend and dance in a new week. The music will be deep and soulful, ranging from disco to house and anywhere in between. Come in your Adidas gear and get down, or wear your favorite Prada. Jeans & a t-shirt? Right on! It doesn't matter what you wear, it's where you're at. Music: deep house and underground disco over a brand new 40,000 watt soundsystem (includes 2 out of 6 subwoofers IN THE FLOOR [yes, you can stand on them]) DJs: Resident DJ Aqua (current resident @ MIX in Long Branch, formerly of Centro-Fly NYC, Astor Lounge NYC and Downtown Café, Red Bank) plus high-profile guests from NYC and abroad mixing the most soulful tracks in existence. For a semi-full scoop on the DJ, check out djaqua.djcentral.com Cover: TBD (less than $10) Venue: A brand new one (stay tuned) Target start date: December 15 Ages: 21+ A short ride from NYC & Philly. 300 yards from the Asbury Park train station. 16. BMW4JAY- thanks for the feedback. however, i'm not quite sure you understand what the mission is here. it's to bring new sounds to people, not play the same old KTU playlist. it's not going to be a progressive house event. what deejays in nj do you know that play deep soulful house & disco that can draw a crowd? i'd like to talk to them! no offense, but if your 'musical sanctuary' is the soundfactory, then we're definitely not on the same page. i used to play there. cleveland (basement) was definitely a big influence on me and remains a good friend. but that scene is dirty & stale. again, i thank you for your feedback. it's all about breaking new ground. peace out. dj aqua
