  4. just got an email from the twilo folks that junior is doing a set from 10pm to midnight at XL. I believe it is free to get in, one drink minimum and it is a record release party for "Junior's Nervous Breakdown" on Nervous records.

now, some of you know i own a different club in the city, FILTER 14, but i guess I am hoping that after Junior's set you might make your way the three blocks over to my club for the Blister party which this week features Meat Katie.

  5. tommy frayne, owner of filter 14 here.

friday is going to be REALLY crowded. David Morales won a grammy two years ago for his remixing and i think the event is a little over promoted for a small (350 person) club like ours. for david morales fans, it is going to be great, for a fun club experience, it is just polain going to be crowded.

melvin moore from subliminal records plays every saturday. he plays many of the nights as the early and late dj at centro-fly for the subliminal sessions. he is definately house, but it is hard to pin him down as our crowd changes many saturdays, and he really just plays what the crowd is reacting to. some weeks it is latin house, some weeks progressive, and i have even heard him go deep. he used to play lots of white-label house remixes of old 80'songs by people like stevie wonder, but has been doing less of that since the rich kids started to go to the beach on the weekends. ( although i still like that house remix of eddie grant's electric avenue!) saturday there is a password for free admission : "Different strokes."

tonight is eddie bang and max rim, both of whom are excellent tech-house guys. i think it was eddie who opened for paul oakenfeld at rockefeller center.

hope to see everyone around soon.

  6. i am the owner of filter 14 and i am pleased so many of you had a good time. two things:

1.) yes, we are working on getting more airconditioning/fans to keep things cooler as we move into the summer.

2.) craig tells me satoshi loved playing for everyone at filter 14 last night and they expect him to play once a month.

you can join the filter 14 email list by emailing me at frayne@mindspring.com and you will be kept in the loop.

you could also join the email list of the promoters, craig and hiro, by emailing craig at craigh@con-fu-sion.com

next big show is david morales on friday, june 15, but blister rocks every tuesday, and melvin moore from subliminal plays every saturday.

i hope to see everyone again soon.

    love, tommy

  7. if you ever want to really just go somewhere to hear music, you have to go to a small club like filter 14. and tomorrow is going to be one of the best nights of the summer!! (actually david morales on friday june 15 will be pretty good too!) it is cheap to get in, always only $5 or $10, and you are right there, nose to nose with the best dj's in the world. satoshi blew this little club up a couple of months ago, and tomorrow will be more of the same. any satoshi fans? this one is a "do not miss" event.
