Hey there, I just wanted to express to everyone in NY how terrible I feel about the disaster that occured in America on tuesday. I've spent the last year and a half in NY, it was my home too...and I want you all to know that your neighbours up north care. I'm originally from Vancouver B.C. and I just left NY on September 3rd after interning there the whole summer. I've been back at school and it really is so amazing how much the people in Vancouver (and no doubt the rest of Canada) want to help. There are 3-4 hour line ups to donate blood, a local radio station that was supposed to give away $25,000 this week decided instead to donate it to the Red Cross Relief Fund, there have been vigils and memorials everywhere and American flags are being bought out in stores all over the city and flown in respect for your nation. For those of you who are waiting to hear from someone, or have lost someone, I hope and pray for their recovery and peace. Please know that the tears you cry are tears that the rest of the world wishes you never had to shed. I love NYC, it is one of the most unique cities in the world because it posesses an amazing spirit-a spirit that is created by the amazing people that live there. What happened on Tuesday was not only and attack on America, but an attack on humanity. New York is a global city, almost every country in the world must be represented in NY. This is why I hope that you as America, with the support of the rest of the world can unite and rise above the terrorism and evil that has caused so much pain. I know that so many of you are angry, as you have every right to be, but please, spread love, not hate. We've seen enough hate in the past few days to last us until the end of time. There are terrible things that go on in this world everyday and unfortunately it has taken an event like this for us to pull together. My heart goes out to you guys, the citizens of the USA, friends, family, living and deceased. I hope that you hold onto your faith and stay strong, and let's work on making this world a safer and more loving place, where no more lives need to be taken, and no more people have to hurt. Love you all, Emily Kwok-Vancouver B.C.-Canada
