  1. hey pfloyd, you should've qualifed your post heading with: "pundits w/ no understanding of free-enterprise, the invisible hand, and fair market valuation need NOT respond" i've jumped on this a bit late, but this really is a discussion on the "practicality and implication of a theoretical market-driven valuation & assessment index of politically unstable regions", but somehow, the words "betting" and "terrorism" got thrown in there and people are up in arms. pfloyd pretty much summed up all the relevant points, so i'll just leave it at that. distasteful? perhaps. but those who have argued against FutureMAP seemingly have missed its point and are only reacting to public outcry. in any event, i will say one thing: it's one helluva ingenious and imaginative out-of-box idea by the architects of the initiative. and gmcook: money is NOT the root of all evil. POVERTY is the root of all evil. but that will have to be another discussion for another day.
  2. there was actually one july 12. they brought the installation art back and the event included art done by a san francisco group invovled with The Burning Man (an annual, communal, art-themed, week-long event in a desert lakebed on the west coast; www.burningman.com). but the advance/presale tickets only @ $25 a pop was a bit discouraging. granted, it was a fundraiser for the next burning man event, but gone are the days of $5 bucks for a lunatarium event. (complain, complain, complain!) this past event was probably worth it, except i just lost track of my days and the event passed. next time!
  3. Does anybody have the inside scoop on upcoming Dumboluna/Lunatarium events? (Maudy?) It's usually thrown by Black Kat/Complacent/Breakbeat Science, but a visit to www.lunatarium.com's calendar page gave me a 404 error. Cheers.
  4. one man's shit is another fly's enviable heap of dung. summerstage does not specifically or uniquely cater to the clubbing crowd and electronic music, so i'm sure the general populace of nyc will disagree that it's a 'shit' lineup. i like the fact that the it spans across different genres. don't know about you, but i'll be there for the indigo girls and elvis costello -- about time he was inducted into the rock 'n roll hall of fame.
  5. [ you can't really escape the company of assholes -- every single one of us is already in the inescapable company of at least one asshole. oops, is this the counter-productivity and senseless posting that joeg is referring to?

  7. wait, let me get this straight: while in one post you express your disgust with people who have problems w/ asians, yet, in another, you blatantly say "people in turbans" bother you? maybe you should re-read your first post.
  8. totally, TOTALLY off-topic here, but i believe it should be "STICK to the fucking sidelines". because, after all, "getting off the fucking sidelines" is exactly what he did. now if you didn't want him to do that, you would tell him to STICK to the sidelines. that is all.
  9. orale! from the barrio in east LA, this is for la raza, ese! 'chu can be my jefe, holmes.
  10. 'whaddup'? "WHADDUP"??? uhm, since when did you grow up from da 'hood?
  11. oh, sorry, LAV. your wit went right over my aerodynamic head. (is that what you mean? a deliberate statement of the obvious to make a point?)
  12. "kill you to death" is there any other kind? oh, thanks for clearing THAT up. without that qualifier, i thought you would've killed her to consciousness.
  13. listen, CHIC. *no* one calls me babe. it's been awhile, hasn't it? i might be up for it, but that depends entirely on where luxx is and on what night. i have a feeling it's somewhere in williamsburg and is on a monday night, which is a setback on both counts for me. but MAYBE. we'll see, if you can get some more information. how 'bout for walkman listening entertainment? any suggestions on cd's/compilations/livesets?
  14. electro fans: any electro parties going on here in the city? there was a post about an electro party @ luxx posted a few weeks back. are there any coming up? any recommended compilations/livesets for listening? (where's the mugwump when you need him) <--new fan of electro
  15. *laughing* uhm, thanks? your projections are close, but not quite. i'm what you call a "recycling technician" (garbage collector), and get my composition from money grubbing republicans that dump their old literature on the upper west side. if you're going to call anybody out, at least have the balls to back it up. instead, when your theory based on assinine assumptions and on the premise of "radical-tree-hugging-liberals" was shot, you shrivel up and resort to personal insults, and in doing so, paid this garbage collector who supports a war, a back-handed compliment. thanks, but it doesn't take much to form coherent sentences. you should bury yourself in trash sometimes, that's how i got my start. and please, DO let this thread die. it's quite poetic, actually, given the subject matter.
