  1. I am looking to throw a party in Manhattan on a Friday night. Looking for a spot where the bar guarantee is under $1000. Also, needs to have turntables to use... Any ideas?
  2. ??? Not much has changed in 10 years... What they didn't have all the pro tools plug-ins they have today? It's not like it was recorded on 2" tape with all analog gear. I don't think it will be much different than the "old" one
  3. Didn't Filter 14 close down about a month ago? I thought it was a goner??
  4. What's up with Danny Howells web site? It shows him playing in Chicago on 9/17: http://www.dannyhowells.com/schedule/
  5. Usually when Digweed is spinning in the main room, no one else will be playing in the other smaller rooms. Sometime they have other DJ's early on though. There is no place to "chill" in Crobar! Unless you consider table service a place to chill. Drinks are $$$, $8-10, water is $5 (I think)... Digweed will start at about 1am, and play till 6am. The crowd is a little mixed with some attitude, usually a pretty good vibe. See ya there!
  6. How did this Digweed thread become the CD vs vinyl thread?? I love vinyl to death, but it's a pain in the ass to lug around, and is a bit fragile. You get a much better bass and fuller sound using vinyl, it just has more mojo! Here is my 2 cents on the DJ using CD's debate... All major DJ's are using CD's now, because they have to. A lot of the newest tracks are not coming out on vinyl right away. The bottom line is if you want to play new tracks you need to play CD's. This is noting new, CD players have been comoon place in the DJ booth for years... and so has the prediction that vinyl will be gone in a few years...WRONG! It may take a hit from the MP3\CD\laptop market, but vinyl will always be around.
  7. It was good... but not great. It felt a little short or edited, 6+ hours is a short set for JR . A couple of good old tunes from back in the day, some decent new tunes too. I think breaking up the party into two locations was not a good idea. I didn't go the after hours, but I heard it was better.
  8. Is there anything going on tonight beside house music? I see PVD is playing, but that's too much hassle for me. Looking for any non-house alternatives....
  9. Where can you some color flyers made up ASAP? Don't have time to send them Canada... need them yesterday! Any place in Manhattan??
  10. I didn't check every light in Crobar, but a lot of lights where working. The suspended lights (which go way down to the dancefloor) where working fine.
  11. What's the dilly with Fri (6/25) yo? Crobar Spirit Avalon etc...
  12. Yea, it was a pretty good night. I went with a few friends, who all agreed that Sasha ripped it up! I think I got there when he dropped Blades “Page Lake†Seemed like he had some problems with the CD players, but he never went to vinyl... Guess he is traveling light these days. What's with those old visuals (tribal graphics) he has been using since Delta Heavy circa 2002? I am sure they pay him enough to hire a guy to make some new ones.
  13. Last time I went to Crobar for Digweed and Sasha, it was $55 at the door... get your tickets while you can!
  14. That's why Miami is only 3 hours away Clubs can barely afford to stay open with all the drug raids and cabaret license bullshit. Who is going to want to rent out an outdoor space they can't use half of the year? Seriously, I have been to some wicked outdoor parties (Ibiza, Miami, etc), but NYC is not that kind of town. You have summer stage for a day or two... and the gay pride pier dance... that’s about as close as you will get.
  15. Anyone have info on guestlists for Jr at Discotech this Friday night?
  16. Anyone know a small club or lounge you can use or rent out to have a private party? Need somewhere where they have turntables (you can use). Thanks!
  17. Where is JR spinning this year for gay pride? I see something about Spirit on Sunday... Is that happening?
  18. I think the key here is balance. A club is going is in the business to make money. At the end of the day, table service is going to provide a club with tons of $$$. At the same time, not everyone wants to sit around and drink a bottle of over priced vodka with a bunch of their friends. You need to have both to survive in todays market... gone are the days when hip club kids where all you need to have a successful club. How do you convince Crobar and other clubs to hand over their cash cow “VIP†real estate, and give it back to the people who just want to hang out and dance?
  19. Hey Victor! Thanks! I will be sure to find you on Friday night... Chris
  20. Oh Yea! I will be there for sure!!!! Hernan rocked Miami in March... Missed him last time he was in town. I got an email about "reduced on the Clubplanet guestlist ( reg)." But I don't see how to sign up.
  21. I am there! Hernan is wicked! This guy sounds like Sasha did a few years back! What's up with the guest list?
  22. What's happening in bean town on friday night (April 30th)??
