I was giving general advice, I never worked on an Audi. As for more detail, Audi does have a campaign out for the 1997-1999 Audi A4 1.8T models. The campaign out for these model years is to inspect the timing belt. If it checked out OK, Audi would warranty any engine repairs due to any timing belt related failure. THis though is only warrantied to 105,000 miles. There is a kit out there for changing it all available at ECStuning.com for your car for around 200$. The ECS kit uses a metal impellar whereas the dealer kit will use a plastic one. A dealer would typically charge 800-1300 for the change, most regular shops will charge around 400-600. Hope that information helps, last time I posted I was in class and now at home I had a chance to check some things. Keough

You can check the belt, and other belts yourself. Just get under the hood, and visually inspect them. At the amount of miles your at you might as well get it done, but if you want to hold out you can. When inspecting them just check for any cracks, freyed ends and what not. Pull on it and hceck the tensin make sure its not too loose. As for price, I'm not exactly sure off head I can ask my friend later and find out what his shop would charge, DEFF would stay away from Audi for that job, if you know a firend at a shop that'll be just fine. Im gonna speculate. It is possible the fence wasnt really attatched at the bottom, scratched the shit out of the car and the car just went under the top pole. Or it could be a ghost lumina.

1991 Cherokee Limited. I was pulling up to a water crossing, and was'nt thinking to smart. I guess you could say I was experimenting. The water corssing was about 30 yards so I attempted to hit it at 40 and hydroplane across most of it. Haha, suprisingly i made it about 10 yards, slammed down hard, and sucked water into the engine. Through a rod right through the oil pan. But these things happen so I'm saving up for a new engine and then Im probably ging to get the rubicon express 3.5 lift with a budget 2 lift on top.
