  1. It's not that NY is behind. It's just that certain things don't fare well with NY DJ's. I think breaks can be very borderline with freestyle. It is also part of what I believe to be rave culture like D&B, Techno, Trance breakbeats etc. Europe has a tendency to harp on what is the next big thing then abandon it for something else. Ny DJ's try and keep to what has been deeply rooted in dance music for decades. Disco, House R&B, Latin etc. All these elements were fertile ground in creating good danceable house music. Breakbeat has a more european feel to it. The groove has little to do with rhythms that multicultural people of all races can appreciate. Beside time will tell of breaks has the staying power or will it fade to obscurity like many other trendy sounds.
  2. where is groovejet going to be located? how big is the venue? details baby details! fl
  3. Believe it or not. David "Exit Owner" Marvisi is going to be he next owner of Limelight. NYC what place (sic) FL
  4. It seems the man himself made an announcement last night that in the fall he will be taking over Saturday nights at Exit. I think this is a good venue for him. Very Arena like. Sorry Boris. FL
  5. It's a relatively small but nice space. It has a lounge feel with a club atmosphere. If that makes any sense. Each night is different. Tuesday is a Hip Hop night. Wednesday is rock and roll. Thursday's are mixed gay & straight kind of like Cluc USA back in the mid 90's. I think Hex is spinning there this Thursday. Friday & Staurday are primarily BT & Eurotrash. The same crowd more or less as Chaos/Euggene. Basically during the week it is a very New York type of audience. On the weekend it is pretty much like most clubs. Hope this helps, FL

  10. Hey, Better this than freezing ass winter. One way or the other us new yawkas must always complain about something. FL
  11. I'm 36 a native new yorker of Latino decent. I work in the music biz and I surf the net for ideas on music and culture. I go out constantly to many different parties and I check all the music messageboards. I did not realize how racist some of the members here are. AMAZING! FL
  12. I's OK to bash Puerto Ricans yet you still dance to their music with no complaints. I'm sure if producers like Hex Hector, Little Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Sandy Rivera of Kings Of Tommorow (responible for the biggest vocal record of the year "Finally") Angel Moraes, David Morales, Lord G and many others who are of PR decent were to see these posts they would be very offended. This site was created for club culture and music and the people who celebtate it. It just goes to show that racism is alive and well and living in NY. What a damn shame! I hope your all proud of yourselves. Now we'll never get posts from people in the music biz that we respect. Sad, FL
