  1. Even tho everyone here on this board are dance muzik freaks (including myself), i have 2 friends visiting me in NYC who *gasp* do NOT like "techno" as they call it. They prefer Top40, radio-friendly dance-pop, and the pop-style hip hop. SO WHERE TO TAKE THEM IN NY ON A WEEKEND? Please don't say Webster Hall or China Club. Preferably something more upscale. Despite their horribly commercial tastes in music, they are still very cool girls from L.A. who've been to all the hotspots out there. All recs appreciated.
  2. Help guys.. does anyone know of a guestlist for Centro fly Tonite?? please email me back!!!\ TIA!
  3. Here's my opinion... WLIR should KEEP: -80s new wave/synth/technopop that's on in the mornings -the current eurotrance/house they play now WLIR should GET RID OF: -80s rock (Ewwwww) -alternative crappy pop/rock -random cheese leftover from KTU like Macy Gray and "Until I Got High" WLIR should add: -more progressive house/trance (DUH) -jungle and Drum N Bass -tech-house -90's hi-nrg/eurodance (hey, if they started with 80s synth, might as well continue the evolution thru the years) -even an Ambient-techno/IDM hour would be great, -just more dance all around in every genre What does everyone else think WLIR should keep/add/get rid of?
  4. Noooooo... tell me that's not true!! I have the **BIGGEST*** crush on Andre.......is he really that much of a playa, Squeezemay? Any juicy details?
  5. I DEFINITELY want to see this happen! I just read the Daily News article on this petition, and fellow CP'ers, let's sign up, i have always wished that 92.7 WLIR would play more dance, and KTU is still too "pop." WLIR is the only progressive station we have right now, and it's bout time it went even more progressive! I just signed.

  9. anyone remember the early raver clothing brands?? hi guys.. i'm just doing some research, anyone remember the early raver clothing brands (circa early 90s) that were really popular, such as Stoopid & Fresh Jive? My cousin used to design for Body & Soul (now defunct) back then which was one of the smaller rave/club/skate brands (if u remember that brand, you really got around!), and i'm trying to research all the old skool stuff. If anyone can help me out, just dig back into your memory! much appreciated! what else was there....???

  12. wasabi nyc, you are one idiotic retard that gives asians a bad name. You obviously have some self-esteem issues that make you rage the way you do. Don't be saying that asians dance better than white people--gimme a break, have you seen the fobbers at Exit?? oh wait--- that was you. And before you go spoutin around Asian pride on the electronica scene, think about the origins of this genre---white guys, german guys, european guys... THEY started it, YOU didn't.... If you're so into your asian pride, go to Flushing or Jersey and go party by yourself in some old asian nightclub with the 45 year olds. Little boy, u don't know much...you sound like you're 14 yrs old and trying to keep up with the other asians by acting all hard and playing glosticks. Raving is bout PLUR and if you don't understand that concept, then u ain't no raver. I went thru the Azn Pride thing long ago... don't worry CP peeps--give Wasabinyc a few years he'll be much more enlightened and soon realize that his thinking is skewed.

  15. hey peeps...... can u guys figure this out? I have 3 friends coming to visit me this weekend (FRI thru SUN), from LA. They are here to (please don't groan) experience the clinkety-clink-swanky-slinky "NYC nightlife" as they envision it. This typically means something like SPA etc.. They would definitely NOT appreciate a place like Vinyl --meaning, they are expecting a lot in terms of cool decor, more for a "scene". (you know, something they can gush about when they're back in LA) But they do want to hear some good trance/Prog. house in nyc. SO......... these are the requirements: 1) cool venue/decor/something "impressive" for an out-of-towner 2) trance/progressive house music, similar, etc. WARNING: House music by the likes of Danny Tenaglia are not preferred (sorry!) Any suggestions for this Fri and Sat nites? I'm thinking, maybe take them to EXIT (earth) for Junior on saturday, because it's new and big... are there other rooms with different styles of music tho? Is DJ Scot Project still at World on Friday? if not, who and what is playing? what else would be good choices?? And....uh..... what nite is good for Spa, and any similiar of this type but not excruciatingly discriminating at the front door? Any ANY recommendations much appreciated!! i know u guys can help me out!
