  1. "WAS LIKE 3 TO 1 ORIENTAL TO AMERICAN RATIO LAST NIGHT"

What the hell is this? My god, just oozing with ignorance and stupidity... do I dare tackle this one?

As for Ferry, it seems like it wasn't worth it. I myself have seen him spin 3 times this year, so a fourth wasn't in the cards. But he has a bimonthly residence at glow in D.C. Tickets run 12 bucks, that's amazing!

What's up w/ the NY dance scene? I read so many complaints of any of the halfway decent places. Arc, seems like the best of them all, but 18 and over? And no alcohol?

Exit? Went to Webster Hall a couple times but it was all guys. Haven't been to Roxy yet, but huge crowds pushing isn't exactly what I had in mind.

Help... what do you guys recommend?

    ---------------------

Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Irene, Swedish Egil, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Donald Glaude, Crystal Method, Mark Farina, and Tall Paul... all in Los Angeles for New Years.

  2. I think I'm down for this... finally I'll get to attend a major DJ event in NY...

I've seen Ferry 3 times this year (2 times in LA, once in Boston), and Vicious has opened for him before... wasn't all that good...wasn't bad either.

Man, wish I could attend his bimonthly residency @ Glow in D.C. 12 dollars presale, yep you heard me right!

12 bucks for ferry is almost as ridiculous as PVD for 10 bucks @ arc...

    Roxy... Dec 27th... I'm there...

  3. That shithouse line is straight comedy... i'm still dyin... stop it!!!!

Hey, I guess i'll be there for the first part, but will they kick us out for after hours or just let new people in??? what's the deal???

I'm on both lists (regular & afterhours) but I'll be damned if I gotta go back out!

  4. Hello, I wanted to know what kind of event this is.

It's only one room right? So it mentions drums... so will there be any electronic? or hip hop (i prefer trance)...

How is the crowd? Appreciate any help on this...

I just want to get liquored up, dance a bit, and have some good eye candy (ladies).

  5. Its really my first time living in the snow, and driving in the snow...

I'm like a tourist and shit, taking pictures...

But already I hate it... being from California, I love my car, and its taking a pounding here...dammit.

ok, need to get rid of this seasonal affective disorder... cue track...

ATB - Sun is Shining..... (LA is 68 degrees and sunny)...

  6. Hello,

I wanted to know the best movie theaters in the city (manhattan). And I'm not talking about the multiplex 20 theater complexes.

For those who know about Cali, similar to the Mann Chinese or the Fox Theaters. One huge screen, possibly balcony seating, superior sound...

places where they have movie premiers... much appreciated.

  7. If you still need your PVD fix, he's only about 5 hours away...

    December 28 in Washington D.C. @ Glow.

I think I'll take two doses of PVD before new years (28th in D.C. & 31st in LA)

And for those loving the price for AVB @ Roxy... 25.00??? Man, NY sure is a ripoff.

By comparison, how's AVB & Ferry Corsten for 30.00 on New Years Day???? sound? Yes both of them... one after the other...

Tiesto & World sounds nice, but who's opening? Who else is there????

I guess the electronic world out here is still slowly developing. When the main act goes on... and that's all folks!

(loved last NYE... Sasha opened for PVD... now that's how it should be!!!)

And is there any dance club that is 21& over? And Arc/Vinyl doesn't serve alcohol??? Wah??? What is it? Bring your own drugs?

  8. I was looking and looking for something halfway decent to do in NYC. And found that not only is there nothing tangible going on, that it'll be way too expensive.

Then I found out that Paul Van dyk, Danny Howells, Crystal Method, Tall Paul, and Mark Farina are all spinning at Giant in Los Angeles for 65 bucks...(for me, its free), so I think its time to use them frequent flyer miles and head out to LA where over 7000 fans will be at this venue...

Digweed will be at a rival spot...

and to top it off on Jan 1, Ferry Corsten & Armin Van Buren will be at Spundae...

Now, that all sounds like fun, we'll see how much of it I can take...

PVD - Nothing but you... on NYE... will top it off!

  9. Hello all,

I'm coming to the D.C./Maryland area, and wanted to know what good clubs to hit up.

Something mixed b/c I want my electronic fix, but my friends will probably want hip/hop or whatever's "the thing" to do in the area.

Is there a club that has multiple rooms? Best crowd? Friday & Saturday night?

I'd appreciate any help. Heard Jules is there Sat? Although he gets bagged on a lot, let's just say I'd rather see him spin, then go to a hip hop joint (no offense).

  10. Yes, Oaky is one of the biggest DJ's, and he's gone mainstream now, so that means he's gotta cater to that genre...

His sets from 99 are still awesome... And I saw him in LA and he was quite good. But the problem here is, he's spinning right now on Z100.3 and its that commercialized crap... its god awful...

Will he spin the crap or the good stuff tonight @ Exit? I'm not going, but the Vivid girls make it a little more enticing...

Plus Digweed has sold out (pre-sale...)

And yes PVD & Tiesto are better than him...

  11. Does anyone else think this is one sweet track? My god...

Here's to PVD spinnin this one @ NYE!

And good luck finding it eh? Except w/i his own sets...

Uh, there seems to be NO news on the New Years front... anything going on? And I don't mean Tiesto @ World for 250.00. I mean something a little more feasible...

WHO NEEDS SLEEP? - Club Space Miami

  12. You got it... PVD will spin in LA & SF, last NYE it was Arizona & LA.

    But No Sander...(Istanbul)

Instead, it will be Danny Howells, Crystal Method, Tall Paul, and Mark Farina

All w/i the same venue! NY couldn't possibly top that... looks like I'm flyin back

Nothing's even listed for NY yet, and I don't want to wait much longer to book a flight.

  13. Don't think DJ Tiesto is Number 1? Well, i'm afraid you are in the minority.

For those who are uncertain check out a couple places.

    DJ Mag

    thedjlist (dotcom)

vote for yourself... majority rules... and trust me, I vote the #1 guy who I think...so shall you.

    Survey says, Tiesto!

i prefer the list, and agree w/ the top 5 no doubt...those are the big boys...

  14. Well the NYE event in LA is already set. I believe Digweed's will be the rival to Giant. (last year Oakenfold went up against Sasha/PVD in LA).

How can you go wrong? 65 bucks, PVD, Howells, Crystal Method, Tall Paul, and others...

Thus far neither Boston nor NY can match, it looks like I'll fly home for NYE?

C'mon east coast, give me anything halfway decent to stay.

Tiesto @ world is something but right in the heart of times square? are you nuts?

  15. Yeah, I know Oaky is mainstream... and w/ that comes his diminished talents...

I think the die hard's would question why I'm even asking...

Thanks for the update on the venues, I still haven't been to Arc, Roxy, Exit... and I call myself a trance addict? Mainly b/c all of my colleagues are into that hiphop/reggae stuff leaving me by myself in this big city.

But I think I answered my own post. Oaky is charging 50 bucks for a thanksgiving eve...

By comparison for 65 bucks on New Years Eve, LA has this lineup:

Talent: Paul Van Dyk, Danny Howells, The Crystal Method (Exclusive DJ Set), Tall Paul, Mark Farina, Luke Fair, Jason Bentley, Mark Tabberner, DJ Colette, Sol, John Do and Justin Gourley.

I don't know how many are local talents, but if you guys recognize any names, obviously they're somebody!

  16. First before I get that drub of Oaky's mainstream and isn't all that anymore, I know, relax!

I was thinkin the same thing then saw him spin @ the Mayan and it was off the hook. I really don't like how's gone Billboard now, and most of his sets (CD's) are crap... but since he rocked the joint back home, I should maybe take an interest.

Until I read that tix @ Exit are 60 bucks? What the? Are the NY venues this good?

I drove to Boston to see PVD spin for 30, only to hear it was 50 at the door @ Roxy. What gives?

Should I dare drive up to Boston again, for Oaky on a Tuesday night in December?

  17. Sorry, but something must be wrong b/c I still can't find out any info regarding Tiesto for NYE. And where is he spinning? World? Where's that? (sorry, i'm not from NY, but just moved)

I was contemplating flying back to Los Angeles for PVD for NYE's b/c I figured NY won't be able to muster anything halfway decent.

And judging by the venue response, I'm figuring that I'm right!

And for the record, Tiesto is #1, whether you like it or not... he's the best at what he spins, if you think differently so be it. But it isn't just dj mag that thinks he's #1.

Personally, as much as I know Oaky is played out, gone main stream and his recent tracks stink up the joint (ok, not my taste), he spun one of if not the best set I've heard all year @ the Mayan this year. Yep better than PVD, Sasha, Tiesto, Dan, Lawrence, Egil, Ferry, Picotto, Fontaine...

So I guess I'll be there @ Exit for Oaky, to give him the benefit of the doubt...

  18. Finally, I always thought NY is a little behind on things. It's a public place, its proven detrimental to your health (which is up to you anyways) and others around you (which isn't!). Smoke outside...

Spare my clothes, others around you, any potential burn hazards...

Can we get past the 60's... or stop trying to emulate euro's?

Oh and California has had it for years, and its quite successful, also prohibited in restaurants out there. Smokers just go outside that's all.

  19. sypher:

Yeah, it wasn't just that site, (now I may have missed that little thing)... but the site at which I asked to be put on the guestlist, it says the same thing... vinyl and then leaving for ibiza or something...

So I was a bit confused, but then thought, why would he say he's a resident in Vinyl for a month, and then take off!

Cool, no problem, but Sperte & Woods are no Danny T...

I guess I'm stuck w/ hip hop tonight...no knock on it either, its just not what I prefer.

(note to phuturefunk: i am NOT bashing hiphop music, please read all posts carefully!)
