  1. Hey George, I dont know if youve been aware of things concerning our old Local 410 crowd but I have some shitty news yo...Your old friend and my old DJ partner Unitas Lewis is very sick with a rare form of cancer. He has a wife and a baby girl and the whole fucking situation sucks...it was my intention to throw a benefit for him at this place Im working on opening but it doesnt look like I'lll be able to do it in time to matter...I look back to all the old days from the local with fond memories. I remember jamming with Wayne and Unitas down in my celllar at the old house and its pretty sad...His brother James is doing well and is married and living down south, Wayne is recording in the studio as usual and I of course remain...he got sick from working at Hoffman La Roche (who are a bunch of scumbags) in thier Vitamin E plant...anyway I see your doing well and thats cool..just thought I drop you a note to let you know whats up. Anyway remember the old days and the fun times at The Local and if you want to drop Unitas a note Im sure he'd appreciate things...you can contact me here at my email and Ill send you his address - greg@illbient.com - thanx - Greg

Well Ive described what I am going to play musically at 252 but here is your chance to respond and give me YOUR opinion on what YOU would like to hear when I open on April 19th at 252 in Bloomfield - you can keep it short and just give a general opinion on genres or get specific and list some songs - the choice is yours...lets kick this thread into overdrive, TELL ME, thank you - Greg

  6. The last 2 replies had EXCELLENT choices (also "Grabbing Hands" is actually called "Everything Counts" by Depeche Mode) - If you guys really enjoy a wide range of excellent new and post underground music you are going to LOVE my place when I open on April 19th, I intend to program what I think the TRUE after hours format should be (which to me is a blend of both new and old MULTIGENRE Underground). At my place you will hear everything genre wise:

    Deep House

    Minimal Tech

    Early Detroit Tech

    Old Chicago House

Boomin Industro - both new and old

    Dream Trance

Old Classic Disco selections from late 70's - early 80's

early British techno - circa 1990

    Dubbed out Reggae Classics

IDM The more dance orientated side of it

    Classic Late 80's - Early 90's alternative

    Hardcore and Happy Hardcore

    Old School Hip Hop Classics

Drum and Bass and thier sub-genres

all this plus my own custom homemade beats and loop mixes

In The ViP Lounge (when it opens) youll hear

    Ambient and Illbient head music

    Old 70's funk and soul

    Cocktail Favorites and MORE !

  15. Hi all: to DjDan and others, I may have jumped the gun a bit on previously mentioning that Richie Rydell would be headlining on opening night and let me apologize if Ive misled any of you but as of right now (Wed. 4:20 pm) Richie is NOT confirmed as the headliner for opening night BUT hopefully as Ive stated before in 1 of my first posts on the subject of the club's opening that I do hope that the good people at The Metro Lounge will not mind him making a guest appearance. As you know Richie's primary duties lie as Metros Lounges resident DJ on Friday evenings, this along with Richie being the manager of Mondo Music, which is the areas largest DJ supply shoppe on Rt 17 give him quite a bit of responsibility and playing a 2nd set while having to work the following day can be quite a feat of stamina..lets hope that things will fall into place and we can have this very popular dj play but if things dont work out I assure all of you again that after 22 years of playing as a DJ myself I will ultimately provide the patrons of my place only the finest talent as far DJ's go...I realize that maybe the majority of you are devoted to alot of the newer Dj's that are currently playing the area's club circuit but the sound of the club will speak for itself and I will be showcasing some of the best talent of the PAST as well as today so rest assured that when you come in no matter who is up in the Booth - that person will be adept at motivating people to move...I will also be playing at times and trust me as I will pound that system like a veal cutlet, so lets look forward to all having a great time listening to the real underground music played the way it should be...thank you as allways, Greg

  18. Ive been gettin overwhelming response for opening night, many many emails and many telephone calls..for those interested in attending my best advice to you would be contact me by email and put your name on that nights admission list because the place will hold about 430 people and I'll tell you right now there will be a line and a strict door policy so if you dont want to wait outside for a couple hours I advise you to get your name on our admissions/ guest list RIGHT AWAY..I got our sound system and its fuckin bomb. Its made up of a 30,000 watt 3 way Tri-amped stack system with a Martin Probeam intelligent lighting rack. On Opening Night April 19th: We have confirmed: from Strictly Rhythm's 1st major Hit recording artist "Logic'" ("The Warning", "The Final Frontier") - Wayne Gardner , together with SUPER guests galore... Stathee and Chris Lewis as residents all night long..free coffee and punch, fresh fruit table with pastries. BYOB (NO GLASS) and PLEASE bring small 1 ounce airline bottles..mixer setups available...please mail me for the admission list or risk a long ass wait outside as I will NOT overpack this event..thank you, Greg - PLEASE RESPOND if you like...

  19. "I remember when Tony used to be the resident at Tempts(yes is did see him there). Great DJ and a really good person..Super cool! Besides him, that list is full of has beens. Im all about the "old days" but to not include people like "Sasha and Digweed, Tiesto or even Oakenfold is to be blind to what is happening in the clubs/music today." - CosmicGate

Its 4:30 am on wednesday morning and I guess I'll respond to your comment -

    1) Tony Humphries NEVER was a resident at Temptations, ever - He never played there in his life...

    2) The Thread's question was "who's your favorite Dj's": Well the list I gave was a partial 1 to say the least I can remember seeing and meeting so many great people over the years - you call them "Has Beens" but the question was asked and I gave my response...I would take the time to go down the list and update you about what some of them are doing now but it's not worth the time to type out everything.

    3) Maybe if the question was "Who is your favorite current / newer djs I'd put together a list some newer guys in it like:

    Sight fer sounds

    Dj Spooky

Moby Hall aka Moby (altho Mobys been around a LONG time too)

    Skratch Piklz - actually Q-Bert

    Rob Gee

    Filthy McNasty

Erick Morillo (who is Tony Rodriguez's nephew - Tony got him started)

    Adam Beyer

    Enomine

    Plastikman aka Hawtin

anyway I could go on but I'd rather play Quake 3 and kick FrumpsBieneke's ass..hehe For all of "us has beens" - good night, Greg
