The intimate venue held host to some of New Yorks finest electronic artists as they came to play Robots ....(then on Thursdays) turning out some extremely memorable evenings of debauchery. Unfortunately as many of you know, its life was tragically cut short due to exploits of certain ROBOTS (who were later to be arrested and charged with theft and conspiracy). This Wednesday we celebrate the times we shared at this long forgotten ROBOT HQ with very Special Guest Richard Hinge (Whose killer track Music, Music Music can be heard on ROBOTS Vol.1 - visit www.wearerobots.net). 8. Hurry up and get your tickets for the WEDNESDAY 22nd SHOW with special guest: J A K E F A I R L E Y We are extremely excited to be bringing you the first in the series of Special Robot events!! Kicking off things we have special guest J A K E F A I R LE Y performing Live! Jake will be visiting New York as part of his North American "Touch Not The Cat" a lbum tour and will be playing exclusively at ROBOTS in NYC. Jake Fairley has been making techno in his home town of Toronto, Canada since the late nineties and over the last few years a has established himself a key force in the undreground electronic music scene around the world with releases on Sender, Kompakt, Dumb-Unit and Cocoon which are known for their original and rocking style. "In September 2004 Jake Fairley releases his first full-length in over two years. "Touch Not The Cat" brings together and draws from every project and release from Jake©ˆs entire career and takes his music to the next level. Many different ideas and sounds are brought together for the first time to create an album that is extremely catchy, danceable and unmistakably Jake. His trademark straight and dirty beats are pitted against the shuffle riffery of T. Rex, the tense monotone of Lou Reid and the distorted pop ofThe Misfits. The production is better than ever - intricate and precise and yet somehow more direct and uncompromised. A review of Jake's "Boozing and Losing" 12" in XLR8R magazine last year claimed it had "possibly the fattest bass line I have ever heard". "Touch Not The Cat's" first single "Night Stick" however, will no doubt be known as Jake©ˆs loudest track to date. Jake Fairley live is a sweaty, drunken monster and pure party fuel. Shut up, drink and dance, put your hands up, and scream." R O B O T S present J A K E F A I R L E Y Live! An inspiration to so many in our scene, he is undoubtedly one of the most gifted and influential DJs to have risen from Detroit. It's a great privelage to have back at arc.
