  1. Quote:Those comments were completely false, I looked into it!!!! Parking was free and you park yourself, and there was absolutely not mandatory coat check, which by the way is FREE!!!! Your mixup with being charged diff. prices was taken care of and once again I apologize for any incovenience Parking was not free. My friends and I arrived in two seperate cars. Both cars were charged $5. The guy that took our money used to be in charge of the valet parking at Club Sleep. Perhaps, he had his own "side business" running this past weekend. You can now question the appropriate party. I was told by another person that met my friends and I at the club that he was stopped at the door and was told that all coats had to be checked that it was "mandatory." I will find out who told him this if I can. As far as drinks, there is not another club in NJ, other than Deko, that charges that much. I have tried out just about every club in NJ (places such as Joey's, Soundgarden and 118) in the last few weeks and have been charged $5 or $6 for a Martini. I didn't even pay $8 at Qou in NYC. As far as the bartending staff goes, I have never seen any of them working at any club in the last year with the exception of Joey(?) who used to work at Abyss. Lastly, I am not a typical crack head or hater. I have stated the facts in this post and my last. I am over 26 years old and if you are trying to create a base clintel near my age group, I don't see it happening. I wish you luck but me and my friends will not return as I refuse to pay $13 to get in a NJ club.....and that was the reduced rate! What was the cover without reduced admission?
  2. I went to Studio 9 on Saturday and must say I am un-impressed. I have been a part of the NJ nightclub scene for 8 years and this place is nothing special. Obviously, a lot of the positive reviews are coming from friends of the staff or novice club kids who were not old enough to experience the madness of years past, such as Friday’s at Abyss back in 97-98, the Surf Club Sunday in 97, etc. I must give Studio 9 some credit, they did a great job on turning a furniture store. or whatever it was, into a club. However, I don’t think the owners learned from the mistakes and greediness of the other club in Woodbridge, the now closed Sleep. Here were the highlights of my night: 1) I had to pay $5 to park my own car. 2) I had to wait on line in the freezing cold, despite the room not even being full. 3) I was on the guest list and still had to pay $13, as they offered reduced admission only. 4) There was a “mandatory†coat check, which is ridiculous. 5) The drinks were over priced at $7-8 per mixed drink. 6) The bartenders all appeared to be novices and I had to wait 10 minutes to get a drink at the main bar as the bartenders moved in slow motion. 7) The music sucked, bottom line. I heard hip-hop most of the night, which ensured that I will never return. The dance music that was played was weak and the mixing was poor. 8) The fire alarms went off during the night and they expected us all to go outside in the cold without our jackets and abandon the $8 drinks we had just purchased after waiting 10 minutes to be served. 9) The lighting was non-existent except for that mobile setup on the stage. It reminded me of a high school dance. 10) The sound was average and it sounded like they clipped the amps on several occasions. 11) The women were very young and the dance floor moved at a snails pace. Zero energy and vibe. If I want to spend this kind of money, I will go to NYC. Prediction-This place will be a ghost town by summer.

  4. I always hear people saying Deko Thursday's are the greatest thing in the world. I ask why? It's basically the same crackheads as Wednesday at Abyss except they wear shirts on Thursday. Same management, same owners, and Demitri uses the same cheazy pick up lines (I heard him a few weeks ago and it was pathetic for someone who is almost 30 years old) to try and pick up any girl that is stupid enough to fall for his B.S.
  5. I’ll tell you what I hate most about the club scene: the guys who are the cancer of the night club industry-the promoters! They all think they are the most important people on the face of the earth. I got news for you guys: you are just a bunch of flyer bitches for some club owner. They bring in some of the worst D.J.’s in the world because they have to take care of their “boys.†You don’t run the show, you are not a celebrity and for most of you: your life is meaningless once you step outside the doors of a nightclub. You can take your false propaganda, your flyers, your free opening D.J’s and shove it. If you guys are so great, than let’s see you pack a room on a Monday night. Nightclubs were packed long before you guys invaded and will be long after your gone. Second on the list is the tough guys that come from Staten Island. This does not apply to all Staten Island clubbers, but in a lot of cases: they come over with a wad of money that their daddy gave them, drive a fancy car that their daddy bought them and are willing to start a fight at the drop of a hat. I remember when these two idiots followed me all the way across the room at Abyss to tell me I spilled a little bit of my drink on their hands when I put it down. You guys that fit the above description, give the intelligent, hard working Italians a bad name. Lastly would be the juice heads. These guys are a bunch of pussies. If they are so tough, why can’t they build a body naturally. I got news for you: your muscles are fake, your liver is rotting, your balls are shrunken down to nothing and your tendons and ligaments are ready to snap like a rubber band. The only one you are going to attract is some 18 year old who doesn’t know any better yet. Half of these guys can’t even “get it up.†If they start a fight, there is a good chance they will tear a muscle when they throw a punch.
  6. Don't let anyone fool you, there were more staff members at Deko than customers. Poor Billy's has always ruled Tuesday nights and continues to do so.
  7. The opening D.J. was horrible!!!!! But then again, what do you expect for free. Too bad there wasn't a biggest stomach contest. Marco would have won hands down. LOL
  8. Has anybody heard the latest release from X-treme Records? It's called "Pray for the Love" by Wendy Scanlan and the second promo vinyl was released on Monday. It has a remix by Danny Woo and an all new remix by Chris Sammarco called Sammarco's NYC Club mix. Both are full vocal mixes.
  9. The bookings at most N.J. clubs is all political. If you kiss up to some promoter you increase your chances of getting a guest spot. My friend was resident Saturday night D.J at Abyss for a year, not to mention he worked at Joey's in Clifton for two years, and he couldn't even get booked at the Surf.
  10. Coogs 78, There is also a NYC Vocal Club Mix from Chris. It has the same keyline as his dub, but with a harder drum pattern and the full vocal. It was on the CD he gave me.
  11. Here's a possible summer vocal anthem: "Pray for the Love" by Wendy Scanlan on X-Treme Records. I got a promo copy from the writer and producer, Chris Sammarco at Abyss last night. He told me there will be two sepearte vinyls. The first vinyl has mixes by Mike Rizzo and Ernie Lake along with Chris's dub and vocal mixes, but the second vinyl due in about two weeks (I was lucky enought to get an advance CDR from Chris) is the real banger and has slammin progressive mixes by Danny Woo and another mix from Chris, called Sammarco's NYC Mix.
  12. Everyone who posted here is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that the previous Saturday residents rocked, regardless of restrictions by management. A real good D.J. can play a great night anywhere, for any crowd, under any circumstances. How many of you ever heard the guys I mentioned play when they were resident at Abyss? Most of you are probably too young to go back that far. My opinion is that Joe is not is the same league as these guys. He is better than average, but not a super D.J. Nothing personal against him or any of you but Saturday's are not what they used to be in years past. As a long time customer, I am making a suggestion.
  13. I am the same guy, except you have misquoted me. I never said Prime lives in Kirk Lopez's shadow. Prime is not in the same league (just my opinion and I am entitled to it). His mixes are way off and his programming is average. Let me put it to you this way, I heard him play at the R-Bar a while ago and my girlfriend who isn't a club person noticed his constant double beating on ever mix. Kirk Lopez is a one of a kind and may be the best D.J. in the state. His mixes are flawless and his programming is top notch. Most of all there is variety in every set he plays. He can make an old track fit right in a set of new music without sounding out of place. Not to mention Kirk is the nicest guy in the world, I have not found that to be true of Prime. Note: when you shake hands with someone you might want to try looking at them.
  14. I have a suggestion regarding Abyss Saturday's. If the rumor of Hunka Bunka closing is true, I would highly recommend bringing in Kirk Lopez to be the resident Saturday night D.J. Nothing personal here, but the music on Saturday is weak. Just my opinion. I have been going to Abyss for years and look at the guys that D.J'ed on Saturday's before Joe. There was Mike Rizzo, Kirk Lopez, Craig Notto, and Chris Sanmarco. All these guys rocked!! How did this guy get in there anyhow? He is ok, but certainly not in the same league as the afore mentioned guys and isn't worthy of playing a big room. Once again, nothing personal (I know how everyone on this board gets offended so easily) is a nice guy.
