PRESS RELEASE The directors of the RioParade event – scheduled to take place next Sunday, the 30th of May, in downtown Rio de Janeiro – hereby announce the POSTPONING of the event, due to bureaucratic impediments not solved in time for the event to take place. For example, the construction of the stage in Cinelândia was forbidden and communicated to the organizers of the event last Friday (May 21st) in the afternoon, by the Câmara de Vereadores do Município do Rio de Janeiro. We would like to point out: • The postponing of the event was not due to lack of support from the tourism bureau, nor was it due to public security issues, as the complete security layout had already been projected and approved for some time now by all the pertinent authorities. • The parties that were to take place before the 2004 RioParade will not be cancelled, since many international DJs hired for the event are already in the country. We deeply regret the postponing, since the city of Rio de Janeiro will not be carrying out an event with tremendous international repercussions, highly successful and having noble motives – the RioParade theme is “Love, Peace and Toleranceâ€.
