basically entered the country (hes a canadian resident) without a work permit for a gig. which nowadays is a big no no. he got banned from settin foot on good ol US soil for the next 5 years. but the 5 years is up now and hes looking for gigs again heres jays take on what exactly happened "I have been djing in the USA for long time without a visa, and most djs I know go there without a visa, because the visa seems to be very hard to get and the fact I used to only play once in a while down there didn’t justify my needing to shell out the cash for it. But as of lately I have been down there more and more, as my records are doing well and people wanna see me play, and I had also intended to get the visa for the new year. Since Seattle is only a 2 hour drive from where I live myself and my friend were driving down, and we got stopped at the US customs where they asked us to report to immigration. From there they searched the car and found the wax. I think what tipped them off is that they looked at my passport full of work visas for many other countries and so many entry stamps for the US recently and not one US work visa. I had also lied and said I was going to see a show at a club in Seattle, and the records (upon asked) belonged to my friends roommate who she had borrowed the car from. At that point they had me pegged and knew I was lying. They said don’t lie to us about this, we think you are a dj named JAY TRIPWIRE (I was nailed) and what are you really doing. I told them that I was going to do an instore appearance at a local store down there to promote my music. From there they called the promoter who told them he was paying me (why he told them that ill never understand), i was written up and banned for 5 years."

^ ya was way too packed. managment was really poor last night imho. first having problems at the door with the guestlist, but that was too be exepcted as once you have alot of people in a club the door guys feel it neccassary to start acting like pricks. but i got that sroted out, then coat check was the worst ive ever encountered in dc, literally. took us 20 min to check in and around 45 min to get our coats at the end of the night. emc crew/five really needs to get that looked at, if there gonna continue to host yoshi parties at the venue and expect that lot of a crowd to show up. music was good for the most part. as expected max got there late. giving out set timings is really pathetic in modern day clubbing. royce did a good job warming up, hes the one who dropped the infusion remix of katebush, the freeland mix of teen spirit, and the pob seismix of heaven scent. good tracks and mixing by him. max got on around 1.30 and banged it out, i only remember the mattew dekay vs beastie boys track he dropped, intergalactic. good set overall. a good dosage of prog. tamara whered you dissapear to later?

i never attempt to get in early for open bars its always just a barracde of peeps standing at the bar and the bartenders purposly take 5 min to make one drink. aswell as im sure that they must have had the 2nd floor closed till 11 last night. ah well. got there around 12ish. dan was laying down. crowd was thin to half packed at most, must have bbeen the weather. still good times and good music with friends. getting a girl booted made my night pt props to the emc crew aswell. altho i didnt get a chance to hear you eh

georgetown died 5 years ago. modern is descent. music is housey. borderline commercial dance music. plenty of hot ass all over that place. ex miss something playboy throws parties there weekly, maybe due to the fact that shes married to the owner

avalon was just cheesy and annoying. end of story. different strokes for different folks i guess. if you can sustain pvd roxy crowds you can go through anywhere haha. im too old but anyways glad to see it got better later on for you guys on wednesday. they webcasted sasha in la before diggers set, but no go on the digweed in nyc thing. just a marketin stunt/ploy. Vic- what went on after sasha got off? who spun? i dnt think you should single out any club for debacuahery. every afterhours club is a crackden in one form or another. twilo was, arc is, all the new hot spots eventually will be. sucks. the burridge party is the only thing i might consider coming up for in the next couple of months. howells isnt scheduled to be back till arcs closing party in march (post wmc). other that than that i havnt heard of anything going on in feb. sander maybe. im more interested in seeing if crobar can put toghther some solid lineups insted, although i will miss arcspace in some form or another when its gone.

i would have been interested in what he brought out at the afterparty, his set at arc was ah up and down to say the least. it had its good moments didnt really go anywhere. very reminiscent of his rennaissance cd, he pulled off alot of the same mixes betgween tracks at arc as he does on the cd. but i did get a chance to hang with him before the afterparty before security kikced us both out of the booth . really cool guy and his parents are good people too, i wish mine would hang with me at afterhour clubs also;)

yah sasha pulled off some really sick mixes along with like an hour or 2 of totally new tracks on cdrs at avalon, im thinking if we had waited longer for avalon to clear out we may have had more fun. he played till 7.30am. kind of punchin myself in the head now for leaving around 4. he didnt really do much at the afterparty, just walk up to the booth a couple of times tryin to spin but we all knew he was way too gone to play, i didnt even notice when he got on, he was up there for like 30 min before he stumbled back down. heard sander blew shit up later then, but i had already left by then. 3pm? probebly best part of the night was seeing cusick fuck with the crowd and play what he felt like playing.. sashas sunglasses and briefcase was a disguise to leave avalon in thro the crowd, i guess he was too mangled to to take it off by the time he got to lot61

you where at avalon? hm didnt see you. anyways was there around 1-4...i thought it was the most horrible crowd ive ever been around (vicman etc..)..drunken peeps, ppl falling down, elbow room only. sasha played well, but the club itself sucked..sound too loud and the cheesiest decorations ive ever seen. i feel sorry for people who actually paid to get into that zoo.....around 4 we had enough, headed over to hear sander at arc...hadnt been there since may so it was gopod to be in there...sander rocked it till 10..then caught a little bit more of sasha at the lot party afterwards....so in general the nighbt was pretty mediocre..reminded me to NEVER go to a club on nye...just too cheesy and annoying....
