  1. I'm happy to announce that I'll be headlining this year's Black Party on Saturday, March 19, at Roseland Ballroom. This is my fourth time playing the Saint At Large's signature event. But this year is even more special than usual as it is my birthday and the organization is celebrating the party's 25th anniversary. I'll be spinning from approximately 4:30am until 11am. Chus and Ceballos will play the first set beginning at 10pm, with Randy Bettis handling the party's final few hours after me. I've always found the Black Party to be the perfect vehicle in which to explore the deeper, sexier side of my music, so I'm really looking forward to the event. Tickets are $95 and are available at www.saintatlarge.com I'll be teaming up with DJ Vibe and Chus and Ceballos the following weekend in Miami during the Winter Music Conference. On Saturday, March 26 -- the final day of the conference -- we're doing a party at the former Envy space, now called "The Warehouse." That Kid Chris and Pete Tha Zouk will do opening honors, followed by Chus and Ceballos, then DJ Vibe and myself. I'll go on around 7am and will play through the remainder of the morning. Advance tickets are $30 and can be purchased at www.*************.com or at the club's box office (90 N.E. 11th Street). I'm also excited to report that a new residency here in NYC may not be far away. I've been in talks for a while now with a few local clubs about doing a monthly Saturday night party. Watch this space for details as soon as they are finalized. Last but not least, I'm planning to do another compilation CD this year. I'm still working out the logistics, but I'm hoping for a late spring or early summer release. As always, I'll keep you updated as the project progresses. The Saint-At-Large Black Party The Darkest Circuit Party in New York City [exerpt] By contrast, the Black Party is a far heavier affair, with a deliberately predatory ambience, as evidenced by this year's invitation: a Polaroid of a young man with a gruesome black eye, split lip, and just-visible tear trickling down his cheek. Black Party attendees are encouraged to "dress heavy" on the Saint At Large Web Site: this Saturday night, thousands of men (and a very few select women) in acres of leather and miles of steel chain will check their inhibitions at the door and converge to soak in an atmosphere of unapologetic, testosterone-infused hedonism. Cameras are not allowed inside the party, where porn stars will showcase their various talents onstage, clothing will come off, and partygoers will publicly maul each other on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, and anywhere else that's dark and available. One thing is guaranteed:once you step into the Black Party, you are officially not in Kansas anymore. Be as that may, men all over the city and around the country are polishing their chaps and readying themselves for the darkest night of the year - they'll shed their everyday personas and give themselves over to an event whose history goes back more than two decades, to the genesis of gay nightlife and everything that has come since, from AIDS and activism to the circuit party phenomenon. The Black Party offers those brave enough to attend a long night of pure fantasy, divorced from daylight and real life. And, as porn actor Addison Scott was quoted in The Village Voiceas saying, "These people are not afraid to act out their fantasies for one night." i know you love calderone. see you down front?
