  3. Check out Thunderball at FIVE AUGUST 6th 2003.. Thunderball has stormed the UK with much critical success. Here’s what some of the magazines had to say about Scorpio Rising: "Sophisticated dub-break sounds with a silky smooth edge." - International DJ "… best enjoyed sipping a cool drink, smoking a fat one and just kicking back Cool and funky – top stuff." - Seven Magazine "A mixture of Drum and Bass, Breaks, and downtempo hustler funk makes this an essential purchase." - Blah Blah " Thunderball are Bond to please" - Jockey Slut The new video for Stereo Tonic has aired on MTV's Chill Out Zone in the UK. You can check out the video in QuickTime format here: http://www.pxlstudios.com/stereotonic/stereotonic.mov. Thunderball has two final singles from Scorpio Rising slated for release early this year. A new Domino 12” features an exclusive To Vienna with Funk floor mix by Thunderball as well as additional mixes from JonH & Raskal, Americruiser and Stone. A new Heart of the Hustler CD single is also in production, featuring a remix by Burdy of Baby Mammoth along with a Massive Attack style dub from Thunderball and a hip hop floor slayer from The Fort Knox Five. Thunderball has also finished two new tracks for the upcoming ESL compilation Den of Thieves. The first track titled The Panther is swank, D&B spy chiller. For the second cut, Thunderball takes on its arch nemesis Liftoff in a 60’s rave up track titled Welcome Back Cooper featuring sitar by Rob Myers.
  4. Wednesday | July.23.2003 M3 Music present: a Rinse magazine and DCDNB.ORG sponsored event JOHN B [ Metalheadz :: Nu Electro :: Beta :: Tangent :: Chihuahua ] John B is a name synonymous with originality. He has constructed some of the most daring Drum & Bass audio experiments of the last five years, and this is a consequence of his reluctance to pigeonhole himself under any one style. His refusal to conform to traditional methods means that his productive streak is ever changing; and so in delving into the timeline of John's musical career, some staggeringly contrasting and imaginative vinyl pressings can be discovered. The only ingredient that is retained between each of his successive releases is quality; there is always thought present, as is hindsight. This quality is a trend that has existed in John's work ever since he first set sight on a synthesizer. Whichever style or slant John approaches his work from; he pulls on qualms in wearing his originality on his sleeve. As long as it is new, fresh, different and extravert, it will always reside in his production experiments somewhere along the line. This individual has carved himself his own corner in the scene, and because he continues to be successful, he has no reason to conform. Bearing the aforementioned points in mind, it is justifiable to propose that John is a true, bright spark of our dark, subterraneous culture. As long as he keeps on making music, in whichever form, and whichever guise; it will bring light and positive energy to even the darkest corners of the rave. John B's signature style of 'electro' funk will be shaking the bassbins tonight. Get ready to dance! along with the BreakBeat Science Tour [ breakbeatscience.com ] JUJU [ Renegade :: TOV :: Advanced :: Phuturo ] Juju is currently one of the States busiest and most established DJ/Producers. Pioneers of scratch music and mega-mixed sets Faust and Shortee have rocked crowds from coast to coast as well as internationally earning them an ever-growing rep for their unique chemistry on and off stage. As usual the head nodding bass will reach all corners of the US on a 21 date tour stretching from New York to LA to Seattle to provide a sound experience rarely heard and experienced. The tour line up offers sets from LTJ BUKEM with his distinguished sound that has placed him as a leading light in the Drum and Bass scene as a DJ, producer and founder of the pioneering Good Looking Records label. Joining him will be the fellow veteran of tough breaks and rib shattering bass lines – MAKOTO, who is fast becoming known for his infamous future funk sound. Breaking out of the studio with his debut album Human Elements, he will be testing out his new tracks that have already raised club temperatures in the UK on the unsuspecting US crowd. All this will feature the unmistakable vocals of MC CONRAD. Each year he adds a new and untouchable dimension to MCing and now his melodic harmonies that were created on his Logical Progression 4 exploits have made it to the dance floor. If you have ever witnessed a Progression Sessions night you will know the high standard of music to expect and these tours are not something you can afford to miss. with Residents: BOBBY JAE [ DCDNB.ORG / Districtsoul.com ] Considered one of the area's true soulful drum'n'bass pioneers, Bobby Jae makes a return to Five with his impeccable mixing and top notch selection. His brand of funk and soul is always pushing the creative envelope, yet is still geared at moving crowds. TRANSIT [ M Theory / TestFlight Recordings ] Transit has been one of the biggest supporters of the musical end of the dnb spectrum since day 1 and has crafted a deep, mystifying sound you have to hear to believe. With exclusive cuts from his and Aaron Myers' label TestFlight Recordings and some of the tightest mixing out there you can be sure he'll throw down at Five.
