THE RED PARTY: Be a part of a special Buzzlife Tradition...The Red Party! This highly anticipated event is always a favorite. Wear two or more articles of RED clothing and get in before midnight for half off the regular admission price.
The Label Boss and Owner of Freak Recordings, Dylan's djing has been consistently crippling dancefloors for years. His style ranges from demented darkness to ghetto funk, always retaining those trademark hard-driving, solid beats. On his own Tech Itch Recordings imprint, the ever-prolific Mark Caro has built up a reputation for delivering tracks with power, venom & highly detailed production qualities. The New York production and DJ duo known as Trendroid, have established themselves as names to watch in just a few short years, building a huge buzz in the dance music underground. Their tracks have been licensed to the prestigious Cream and Global Underground compilations, and they were selected by URB Magazine as part of their
influential "Next 100" list of 2002. In the next year, expect a number of new projects by Trendroid, for labels such as Stealth, FUJU, Twisted, and others.

Buzzlife founder Scott Henry will be taking over the main room with a special FOUR HOUR SET! Not since Cubik's opening almost a year ago has Scott played all night, and after his blazing, early morning set at Starscape this past weekend we KNOW this week will be a treat!
ED RUSH & OPTICAL [Virus Crew | UK ]
The UK's Ed Rush & Optical will be laying it down proper in the drum 'n' bass room. Ed Rush & Optical have been major players in the scene for quite a few years now. Optical's engineering and co-writing tracks on Goldie and Grooverider's albums has brought him a lot of mainstream attention, but those 'in the know' realise his best work is with Ed Rush. The quality and amount of tunes they've made together in such a relatively short space of time has helped Virus rise quickly to the stage where every release is eagerly anticipated.
Throughout their career, the duo have been pioneers, constantly pushing the boundaries, always keeping the drum & bass sound moving forward "I've never really looked at it in that way," Ed Rush says, "Always trying to do something different has been the main thing that has powered me. Once you've found a formula that works, be it the beats or the way that you arrange a track, it's very easy to just stick to it. That's boring. It's nice to try and really push the boat out. I've never intentionally wanted to do something that will change everything. We just try and do things that sound different and are interesting to listen to, yet still work on the floor.

FRIDAY, July 23rd 2004: X-Mas in July Party
Even if you have never heard of Miss Kittin, you have heard her distinctive monotone vocals more times than you may realize. Often working with electro/techno producer, The Hacker, she’s covered “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)â€, disparaged Frank Sinatra on a Danny Tenaglia CD, admits her murderous penchant for kitchen cutlery and extols the virtues of life on MTV. Her vocal work on Felix da Housecat’s seminal “Kittenz and thee Glitz†album was probably her first exposure to the general American EDM audience. Well not only can she sing, Miss Kittin is an incredibly talented techno/electro DJ, as demonstrated on her Radio Caroline Vol. 1 mix CD.
Also on this night: John Selway is a creative “by-product†of the early 90s DC rave scene who catapulted his global techno recognition with his pristine production techniques. His 2001 album “The Edge of Now†was years ahead of the electro trend. Tonight we welcome him “home†to DC for a night of main room techno at Cubik.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
It's the thick of summer on the East Coast -- hot, hazy and very humid. But if you 'think' cold enough, Buzzlife can produce an ice-Cubik event that will have you swearing it was December. We're decking the entire club in Yuletide flavor -- Christmas tree, garland, glitter, snowflakes, blinking lights -- the complete works. Even the cold air. Remember the cryogenic blasts in the past? Buzzlife's polar connections at this moment are directing Arctic air our way, and it's guaranteed to arrive in DC on Friday, July 23rd. Word of caution: Arctic air and East Coast heat don't mix too well, so expect a refreshing, combustibly icy fog to swallow up the main room throughout the night. But it isn't Christmas without St. Nick, that's why we've invited Sister "Santa" Face and all "her" elves back at the club. You can get free Polaroids taken with you and your friends on stage with Santa. Buzzlife is setting up a Toy Drive too! Bring to the club a new, unwrapped toy to be distributed to low-income day-care centers in SE DC.
