Whats up Effect.... It was great meeting you at my party last month I think you should keep it house\trance in one room and Hip hop in the other.... Unfortunatley I would rather see it all just dance music but these days a mix is what is needed in order to bring a crowd that will support the bar.... also 98.7 kissfm on saturday nights feature deep house music with DJ Ruben Torro... the selection he plays is always on point.

TRUE..... but at least you can find it on the internet commercial free.... there are lots of internet radio stations you can listen too.....

you expressed some very good points.... I think that if the party is promoted right then it can definitely work on staten island.... When we started our party at martini Red we FIRST had a Art Exhibit at our promoters loft where we showcased some short films, paintings, and video installations. We promoted both the Art exhibit and the after party at Martini Red with great success.We also where able to get the local business to sponsor the event..... I believe we had around 100 people show up to Martini Red after the art exhibit. Which for S.I. is allot! I think that if some planning is done before hand then any party can have a succeful night. Sure after that one big event our number have decreased but we still average around 50 heads. IT takes time to build a party but with good planning and proper promoting anything is possible...

this is so true..... but fortunately at my party @ Martini Red I have not had a Hip-Hop crowd at all.... and in the last few months I have been doing the party only once did some ask for different music and it was not hip hop... they asked for some classic rock which was kool.

DAMN!... why all the hate for Staten Island.... can't a brother promote a party regardless of its location..... Martini Red is not a dive! its probably the only place on staten Island that the crowd is not trying to follow some wack as fashion trends and acting all snobbish. Why would you have to question this kat on wether or not he played in Europe and Miami... I know pleanty of DJ's that only play in Europe and don't play that much here in NYC.... shit I have played in south america and europe also... but does that make me less of a DJ cause I am trying to start a scene locally where I live. NO! Its about the music and having a good time.... the scene in NYC is bad enough as it is there is no need for hate..... better to go and support a local DJ or party then not have anywhere to go or pay some ridiculous cover charge to go and listen to some mediocore DJ... my 2 cents.
