In addition to now being (once again) American League champs, this win is especially satisfying. Was it really 27 f'n years ago that i sat with my dad and my cousins in the cold at Yankee stadium and watched chris chamblis hit one out in the bottom of the 9th to win the league championship just like boone did tonight?? almost had tears in my eyes remembering that night....the yanks lost the series that year but that was the begining of my obsession with the team that played in the stadium about 15 min. from where i lived. the last world series that i went to was in 1978...we had to give up our season tickets that year due to financial reasons....and rough times were ahead...the yankees thru the 80s didnt exaclty light the scoreboard up....but i remained true. i moved to fla in 93 and have gone back for games every summer since. i moved to Boston in 99 and went thru some of the toughest times of my life there...said goodbye and good ridance to Boston in 2001, so, to see the red sox go down has a little extra special meaning to me... i know, i know, this is miami and everyone will be pro marlins....but the yankees are in my blood.
