  1. Tonight, Saturday 11/22 at Sleep in Woodbridge, D.J. Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco spinning today's hottest music. Saturday's have been excellent and tonight will be no different. Saturday nights have been drawing the best looking crowd I have ever seen as a D.J. Also coming this Wednesday, the pre-Thansksgiving party, also featuring D.J. Chris Sammarco in the mix. Look out for my upcoming remix set for release in 2-3 weeks, which I named Sammarco's Club Sleep Anthem Mix after my Saturday residency. Stop in tonight for a sneak peak. Contact me at inthemix@att.net for the guestlist.
  2. Thanks for coming in every week and thanks for your feedback. You must understand that the clubs format for Saturday’s is KTU vocals, mainstream hip-hop and reggae and some progressive house. There are only so many new songs every month that fit the format of the night. I am also tired of “Appreciate Me†but the dance floor went crazy when I played it. Also, I am sometimes asked by management to play certain songs and change the direction of a set, so I must do as I am asked. I was also flooded with requests last night and filled almost every one. Requests included Lumidee, Debra Cox, Motorcycle, Bucci Bag, Appreciate Me, Melanie C and Satisfaction. As for the hip hop, it was agreed when I was hired that the hip hop sets would be mainstream………..basically what radio is playing. I’m not sure what time you came in last night, but I played at least 10 records throughout the night that I haven’t played yet on a Saturday including some older stuff. I am very conscience about being repetitive and try to add 1 or 2 new records to my set every week, but there has not been a lot of new music the second half of the year. Bottom line, the key to being a successful D.J. is consistency.
  3. Tonight 11/1 at Sleep, resident D.J. Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco spinning today's hotest music. There are already several huge parties confirmed for tonight, so it should be a very busy night. See ya there.
  4. I would like to thank everybody for their feedback, whether it be positive or negative. There are several issues I would like to address. First, I would like to comment on the shout outs and happy birthdays. Anybody who knows me can tell you that I absolutely hate speaking on the mic. However, if management or a birthday party of 50 people, as we had last week, ask me to do a shout out, etc. it has to be done. Second, I would like to address another misconception in the music business. Most people bash certain D.J.’s for playing too commercial or too progressive, etc. What most people don’t realize is that most clubs have a set musical format for each night. For example, some clubs have one hip-hop night, one progressive night and one mainstream night. Regardless, the bottom line for a D.J.: look at the type of crowd that is in front of you and play whatever type of music is required to keep the floor full and keep the crowd in the room until last call. At Sleep on Saturday’s, I play a lot of vocals, several abbreviated sets of hip-hop and reggae, and progressive house, because that is what works for the crowd I have. If I played the music I wanted to play all night, the room would be empty before midnight. As a comparison, when I played at Abyss, I played mostly progressive house with small amounts of vocals and no hip-hop or reggae. It all depends on the club and the type of crowd. Guys who refuse to adapt to the crowd they have in front of them are not going to have much longevity in this business. Lastly, I would like to thank the entire Sleep staff and management for their support and look forward to many more successful Saturday nights. Chris “In the Mix†Sammarco
  5. I haven't been there yet on a Friday, but I can assure you that Saturday's are doing great. Last week was very busy and there were tons of beautiful people in the crowd. The dance floor was packed until last call and there was tons of energy in the room. As far as the club coutesy issue goes: Anyone from the industry that would like to come by on a Saturday can e-mail me at inthemix@att.net and I will make sure you are on my guestlist, even if I have to pay your cover out of my own pocket. 6. Tonight at Sleep, resident D.J. Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco spinning today's hottest music. Last week was very busy with tons of beautiful women in the crowd. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for news regarding the debut of a major remix I just completed for a well known artist due out in Nov/Dec.
  7. Big Daddy, It was a pleasure meeting you last night. I'm glad you had a good time. There are no promoters pushing Saturday because the night does not need an extra boost. It can stand on it's own without an outside promotional team. As far as the bartender goes....don't worry about her name. LOL
  8. The grand opening of Sleep continues tonight, Sat 10/18 with D.J. Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco providing the beats. Last Saturday was very busy and tonight will be even better. Hope to see you there.
  9. Could you please elaborate as to why you feel the night didn't "rock?" We can use your feedback to improve future club nights. I have been in this business for 7 years and have seen just about everything. Last night was a very succesful night for a club that has not yet had it's official grand opening. Things will only get better in the future. Your feedback is appreciated.
  10. Last night was an excellent night. I had a dance floor from 10:30 until we turned on the lights at 3:00 a.m. Look for Saturday's to really take off in the coming weeks. Big shouts outs to Tony Tee, Sergio and Kosta for stopping in last night.
  11. I want to thank everyone who came out to "Sleep" last night. The place was packed and there was a great vibe in the room. The dance floor was full the entire night. Keep in mind there has been no major promotions for the club yet and it was still packed. After the opening party, things are going to get even better. For those of you who expressed your concern about valet parking, the price was reduced to $4 last night. Chris Sammarco inthemix@att.net
  12. Come join us tonight as the pre-grand opening party continues at Club "Sleep" in Woodbridge. I'll be spinning the entire night. Hope to see you there.
  13. The pre-grand opening party continues this weekend at Sleep in Woodbridge. I will be D.J.'ing this Saturday the entire night. I will be spinning the latest vocal and progressive house. Come check it out, last weekend had an excellent turn out. If any one has any questions regarding the club or the guest list, e-mail me at inthemix@worldnet.att.net Chris Sammarco
  14. I just wanted to thank everyone that came out to "Sleep" in Woodbridge last night. The opening party was a huge success. It was very busy and there were tons of beautiful women-(Marco you missed out!). Those who didn't stop by last night, try to make it tonight. I will also be D.J.'ing again tonight.
  15. Marco, All three of us will be there on Friday and Troy and I will be there on Saturday. I will most likely play most of the night on Saturday as Troy has a prior commitment and will be arriving later in the night. I will be unveiling several of my unreleased top secret remixes that are coming out of the next six months so be there!
  16. As far as the inquiry about my productions, check out X-treme Records website. There are two mixes, Sammarco's NYC Club Mix and Sammarco's A.M. Club Mix, spread out over two different vinyls. Audio samples of both are on X-treme's website. Keep in mind, I also wrote and arranged this song, and recorded the vocalist. Stop by Sleep and introduce yourself. I'd love to meet you. The first drink is on me. I'll have some vinyl and CD's of my productions waiting for you. Peace.
  17. Hello everyone. This is Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco and I am making my debut on the club planet message board. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be making my return to D.J.'ing at Sleep this coming weekend. My last residency was at Abyss on the main floor Saturday nights from Oct. 2000-Oct. 2001. I took a break from D.J.'ing to concentrate on producing and thus far have released Wendy Scanlan's "Pray for the Love" on X-treme records and have a remix coming out in 6-8 weeks on a well known artist who's track I played regurarly during my Abyss run. Some of the people on this board I know very well. Some people I will be meeting for the first time. To those I don't know, stop in the booth and introduce yourself, I'd love to meet all of you. As for the people on this board I know well, I want to send a big shout outs to Marcomaxin-who used to work the bar across from the D.J. booth while I was at Abyss, M.C. Showboat, my former M.C., Joe Armenio, Sergio, and Kirk Lopez. If any old friends want to say hello or some people I don't know want to introduce themselves, e-mail me at inthemix@worldnet.att.net.
  18. As far as the "name D.J." things goes, one of the other two residents hired to spin at Sleep is a former resident Saturday night D.J. from Club Abyss. He played the main floor by himself for just over one year. Good luck with your business and God bless.
