  1. I want to thank Jim, Ede and Rick for getting in touch with me so promptly and giving me and helping to clear the air somewhat. My post was written a bit rash and upset, but I understand that the way things were run this past weekend are not a reflection on Aftadark, Volume or Tweak Entertainment. Jim was not the one running the musical side of the night, there was a time management issue and the night was became very disorganized since we all had heard different stories about what time we were playing. 2. For over a year, Vertigo and the Analogue Lounge has been providing Boston with an uncompromising night of music on Wednesday's. A laid back vibe in the posh settings of the Vertigo lounge...DJ's on display in front of huge windows that overlook State Street...Martini's , Cosmo's, Bud Lite's and yes, some of Boston's most beautiful women. In the past 5 weeks, Vertigo has turned into a staple for most of us. Some of Boston's best have graced the decks and last week people were treated to 2 increadible Abelton LIVE! performances by Matt Johnson and Chris Micali...names that are putting Boston back on the map, as one of the most talent filled cities in dance music. Tomorrow night, gracing the decks at Vertigo will be a little bit of old and new. Charles Jetzer is another among the many names of producers that are coming out of Boston. He's forging his own path in dance music having created Anamorphic Recordings as a platform to launch his music. With several releases under his belt (check out www.edmdigital.com or www.anamorphicrecordings.com for a sample), its only a matter of time before Charles takes his sound to the next stage. Along with Charles on wednesday will be one of Boston's Nubreed. Over the past few months a few DJ's have begun to emerge in Boston as the next crop of guys to look out for and Dan Alcala is among the best of the bunch. Dan posesses the qualities of the humble musician, utterly critical of his work, but methodical and calculated in his selection of music. Catering to those who enjoy the more laid back, melodic and elclectic side of progressive music...Dan is a DJ's DJ. His choice of tunes will turn the head of the musical-snob, and entice a bump and a shake from the kids who get down. Making his second Boston appearance, check out Dan Alcala this wednesday at Vertigo. Nuff said, we can't say more about how far this night has come, and how much greater it's still going to get. See you all wednesday. oh yeah, did I say it was free? 126 State Street, Faneuil Hall, 10-2 Dres
  3. It being my first time down there I really didn't know what to expect, and since I didn't really get any explanation that night or the following day in regards to the gig...I simply assumed it was either the venue or the promoter's foul up. And believe me, I'd heard good things about both, from people I trust here in Boston who've had chances to play at Therapy, so I'm sure it wasn't Volume or AftaDarks fault in anyway. I don't mean to point fingers, I'm just upset at what I had to deal with. Dres
  4. Gasoline for car ride to providence: $30 Vinyl and Digital Music purchased for gig: $50 Drinks at venue (no drink tickets): $10 Sitting at Therapy for 5 hours and not even getting the chance to play: WORTHLESS. The most poorly run, poorly organized event. I tip my hat to the DJ's involved who played. Ede it was great finally meeting you, and while I dug some of the stuff I heard, I patiently hung around after my time slot was changed, just to get a chance to play in that room. I wasn't supposed to close out the night, but sure let's switch things around, I mean afterall it's only Dres we're talking about here, he won't mind. Not to mention that Fritz never showed up, and sent down a "replacement dj" who showed up 10 minutes prior to Fritz's set time, and was on the decks 10 minutes after he got there. Cheers...my records and my car really needed a ride down to Providence. Just wasted $100 I could have used on Xmas gifts. Great time... Oh yeah, Joe Faria & The Tex Brothers (playing in the downstairs room) also got just as screwed as me, being bumped at 4 a.m. after being told they'd play the whole night. Good times...thanks again for the experience. Dres
  5. Ooh this paahhty sounds like fun...can I wear my "PLUR BUSH" T-shirt? I promise to only spin the best High-NRG West coast sultry ragga house this side of the mississippi. And yeah...I just noticed this thread AFTER I posted my own, so whatever...suck it. Swells is a sick DJ...I play ghey records, but they sound like Sasha music when I play them. SUPERAGUA P.S: THANKS CP MODERATORS...YOU GUYS ARE ON TOP OF YOUR GAME!!! Dres

  7. Tune in today to www.protonradio.com for my semi-monthly show Perceptions. Today you can check out a special 90 minute guest mix I did this past weekend for DJ Massi's Star 93.7 FM Afterhours show. I had a blast playing for Massi and for all the people tuned in for their dosage of late night grooves. Joining me as my guest this week is Chris Reavey (Fade , Reversible) with an excellent hour long mix of some amped up beats. Chris's sound can be described as a hard edge mix of house, techno and progressive, it almost defines a genre of it own. Fast paced, energetic, funky and driving. Tune in at 3:00 p.m. for an electrified start to this week. Enjoy, Dres
  8. Hi everyone, I wanted to let everyone knwo that I will be playing this saturday night / sunday morning on Massi's Star 93.7 FM Afterhours show. I'll be playing the guest slot from 3:00 - 4:30 a.m. so if any of you guys out there will be staying up doing the afterparty/afterhours thang, be sure to tune in. I'd like to thank Massi for the invitation, ever since he started having guests I've been looking forward to a chance to play along with him. Massi has been doing an excellent job with his show, and with the addition of having local DJ's guest spot on the show, it's increased listenership and helped some locals get heard by crowds who normally wouldn't get the chance to hear them. Paul Dailey, Walt Zink and Nailz are only a few of Massi's recent guests with many more to come, I encourage both local jocks and everyone else to tune in and support this show. I haven't had a chance to play out here in Boston in some time so I hope you guys can tune in, got lots of goodies in store. Afterhours on Star 93.7 FM - with Massi from 2 a.m - 6 a.m. Dres

    Rise In May

A little bit over due but here's the listing for a hot month of MAY at RISE. 5.1 - Paul Dailey (As Rise's newest Resident Paul has been getting better and better every time he graces the RISE decks. His signature funky techno sound is mixed in with other genres of house and progressive. Giving Carl Cox a run for his money, Paul's sets at Rise are soon to become legendary) 5.7 - Groovefire w / Dave McNeary (Resident DJ's Groovefire and Saturday lounge resident Dave McNeary - take on Orbit this week for another installment of their awesome sets. "Groovefire is so Hot right now" should be their motto as these guys have really stepped up to show Boston how its done. Opening for them will be Dave McNeary - Rise's saturday Lounge resident and an awesome DJ) 5.14 DJ Manolo & AC ( The return of Manny to RISE brings back memories of his former residency along with his old friend and one of Boston BEST DJ's in my opinion, AC. This night serves as one of a series of gigs sending off Manny who sadly is leaving Massachusetts this month. Come help send off a Boston DJ Icon, and come check out a rare appearance by Boston's most underrated DJ , AC - show up early) 5.21 - STEVE PORTER ( Porter needs no introduction. One of the Boston's most respected artists heads back to Boston for his monthly mayhem of a residency at RISE. Every month Steve manages to bring back old favorite songs and keep an energetic and funky groove moving, a set that is unique to Rise. His attachment to Boston is only matched by the love this city has for him. Don't miss out on Rise's premiere resident DJ) 5.28 - JOHN DEBO ( What can be said about Debo that hasn't already been joked about on Square One. John made his mark in this city and then left us, only to tease us with his bi-monthly residency at RISE. Now , a less busy Debo has had plenty of time to refocus his attention on Production and on DJ'ing. He's not here that often so don't miss out on seeing what Debo has to offer) ORBIT @ RISE occurs every friday night from 1:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m RISE is a private, member-only club and is NOT open to the public. $10 Members $15 Guests Rise is a members only club. For news and information on membership go to http://www.riseclub.us/index.shtml. Interested in attending as a guest ? Send an email to squareone_boston@hotmail.com for guestlist DRES
