  1. Trance folk are funny sometimes.

Sorry kids, but you're not gonna have a return to 1999 where you can swing your glowsticks hither and yon, screaming "I'm cuckoo for crack!"

Sadly, in 1999 I was listening to death and industrial metal. Yep, totally true...

  2. I totally agree with levelistic. I too, love trance. There's plenty of bad trance, but there's plenty of good too. I find trance to be very melodical, something you can follow mentally without falling into an endless loop.

I have been going out much less since Club Spin closed, it was the last place where I'd go for a reliable, good fix of trance. A couple of good nights at Maze do not count.

House music is something I enjoy for an hour, maybe two, then the interest drops. I do like deep house as it is more relaxing.

  3. just in case, that one right there was Markuz Schulz when all the "sound issues" were happening, Armin got into the "stage" 15 min after that ......

You're right. My bad, kept thinking "Mini Armin Review"

  4. I think the night went awesome, except for the extremely embarassing sound issues. God, that was sad and funny at the same time! Music is playing everyone is having fun, then bam! and music stops and you can only hear booth speakers playing. Then, after some shuffling, music starts playing again... for 5 seconds. This went on for what seemed like forever. I know it was just a couple of minutes but damn! Markus just stood there with his hands in a confused position like "Well shit what can I do now?"

I've been to Level only once before and from what I remember, sound quality did not improve much. The sound just isn't clear. The quality varies significantly as you move through the dance floor and forget about the upper level. It is not surprising though as the club is huge and it must be tricky to get the acoustics right.

One totally positive cool thing I realized is no matter how crowded the place is, there's always going to be plenty of private places to hide away in.  ;D

On the side note, what's going on with all the guidos. There was a whole horde of them. This punk almost knocked my friend out while pumping his fists all over the place trying to impress some chicks he had no chance with.  ::)

  5. They also underbid on Digweed for NYE and went with a gay night.

... and their gay nights were totally jumping, at least by my means. I was taking pictures of my friend who was performing there a couple of nights when it was gay, and I gotta tell you, even with the awful music they were playing initially, it was very much packed. Now it seems they lost Acosta as well.

I watched Stryke do his magic for a good while. The man has amazing skills. I was plesantly amused by they way he keeps things moving -- top notch.

What led me to reason that programming was off was mostly the fact that when I got there something mighty agressive was playing. I struggle to even start guessing the track, but it was not your Jeff Mills techno but something so hard and volumnous that I felt very small

and powerless... and didn't wanna try dancing. It was around 12:30-1:00 AM and it seemed that it was a bit too early into the night for that kinda music...

  6. I meant opium den in the sense that you want one of these dark sweatboxes with all these shady types scurrying about...the vibe of the club is what you make of it, and if you couldn't make a good thing out of a club like Space 34, I feel bad for you.

Ok I know whatcha saying. I do admit I like those tiny places but I also had a lot of fun at the old Space. I spent my New Year there and it was a total kickass. The new Space was an upgrade that was not quite as good as the old model -- too fancy, too many lights (my eyes! my eyes!) and major ass attitudes.

  7. As for no vibe, I'd imagine Juxt is one of those "opium den" fans.

If you mean Opium Garden, I've never been there. I haven't heard a single good thing about Opium. All I hear is "it's fucking hot and everyone is sweaty." My first visit to Opium was going to be for AVB but now since it's moved to Level...

Shadow Lounge and Mercury Lounge had the vibe. Spin came close a couple of times. Space has as much vibe as chewed bubble gum.

  8. Well Styke's event didn't go all that good. For a while it seemed I was the only person in the main room while the Lime bar was jumping to some uber-lame Shakira remixes. I think Greg screwed up his programming and scared people away with banging techno.

Ah, and Maze security has major issues. Major issues I say. They are quickly approaching the arrogance level of Space34 except they have little reason to do so.

  9. James totally kicked butt. It was one of the not many times I truly enjoyed house music.

The little bikini contest went pretty well too. Definetly got my attention.

I wanted to say hi to some junkies but I don't know how any of them look like, except for Nick whom I met at Space once. You people need to wear those t-shirts again.

  10. Well I am hyped up now. I am going to Maze. I might bring a camera and snap some pictures of the man in action. Hear me Styke? Dress well! 8)

Maybe I'll meet up with some of the junkies there. If you see a blonde guy with a pony tail say "hi."

  11. I think NV should lower their cover to something like $15. Whenever I decide to stop by after midnight (after CJ deal expires) I see just the security at the door, nobody coming in, nobody coming out, and thumping bass rattling the building. I can't help but get a feeling that I will be hustled out of my money by walking in and finding myself alone in the club.

  12. I've heard this name a couple of times but never heard the music. Is this guy any good? What does he play? He's playing at Maze on Saturday so I'd like to know if it's worth the visit.

  13. Matrix. Well now that's funny. I spun there once but the address didn't trigger anything in my mind. I really hope they changed it a lot cause when it was Matrix is was quite lame.

  14. Located at 109 SW 2nd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33068. Supposely an old club under a new name. I can't figure out what it used to be. Has anyone been there? How is the vibe?
