  1. when in doubt, go for the scary :aright: !

    Agreed!

Can't wait for this night, it's going to be nice. Here's a little info on one of our great DJs, Lars B.:

BIOGRAPHY Lars 'LB.' Behrenroth (BOC Productions)

    lars@housesound.com - http://www.bocproductions.de

After being given organ lessons at an early age, music fast became an important aspect of Lars 'LB.' Behrenroth's youth. At 15, he took it to the next level by spinning records at a danceschool party. Ever since, Lars has been watching people dance to his music all over the world. Besides performing many clubgigs all over the world he can also be caught DJing in his new hometown of Los Angeles after moving from Hamburg in April 2004.

He attended the School of Audio Engineering in Hamburg, Germany in 1996 where he completed his first remix projects which were released on a local label. Shortly after that he started the production team "Birth of Cool" with former partner Michael Carstensen. About a year and a handful of remixes later (ie. MJ Cole ‘Sincere’ on EDEL, Martha Cinader ‘Living it’ on LSL, NYC), they decided to split up to focus on individual styles.

Later that year, Lars started co-hosting the show "House Sound of Hamburg" (HSH) on a local radio station. In 1998 and 1999 he brought the show to a European-wide electronic and dance radio station, Evosonic Radio. It soon became a weekly three-hour house music mix show with guests like Deep Swing, Mateo&Matos, Paul Johnson, DJ Pierre and more.

The same concept reappeared when Lars ‘LB.’ brought HSH to the webbased underground N.Y. music show Streetsound as well as to the first German internet-broadcasting station, CyberRadio & CyberRadio TV which he set up and also was responsible for the evening programming and mix show coordination, which featured underground dancemusic ONLY.

Together with Constantin Groll he hosted the longest house music mix show on the net, "GlobalHouseConnection" (GHC), an 8-hour Saturday night show. GHC was ‘reanimated’ in May 2001 with a weekly Sunday night show. The show is hosted by netmusique.com and can be checked out on globalhouseconnection.com

Since June 2002 Lars has been back on FM with his new show ‘DEEPER SHADES OF HOUSE’ on the German station JAM FM which can be received nationwide in Germany, europewide via satellite and all over the US on XM RADIO – THE MOVE –

In 1999 Lars 'LB.' joined the Records of Interest family and signed a publishing deal with "Just a Groovy Song / Universal Music". Ever since he produces under the production name BOC Productions and has released his debut album and several 12â€s on labels including Chez Music NYC, Deep4Life, Chicago, TOI - Germany as well as remixes for artists like Kathy Brown, The Rurals , Pressure (95North Records), Deep Swing, Dubtribe Soundsystem, MJ Cole, Alma Horton, Q-Burns Abstract Message feat. Lisa Shaw and many others.

  5. Awesome GL last night. Good crowd, beautiful girls, dancing peeps. Only thing is, all of a sudden, at 1:00PM everyone went home. Bartender immediately closes up, yet other people start showing up at 1:20/ 1:30PM or calling me about it. Gotta have a talk with the manager. Anyways, this Thursday, The Wizang and DJBuns (Joshua) open the night, and Atomic Mike will take it home. NOT to be missed. Oh and $5.00 vodka/cran between 10:00 and 11:00.

I didn't get on the list so i'll pay tonight but we'll definately have to have a lemon drop ... i'm already getting my groove on with some nice wine

doode!! what are you talking about? you ARE on the list. I got your back, just get you behind over to the club tonight. :pint:

  12. Thanks Imad,

Where is it located....or do you have any other suggestions.....ill be in town on a Sunday night Sept 5th....any other hot spots to check out???

    Thanks,

    Kelly

Clubbing or Dinning? Deep @ 1617 Shrader for dancing (deep house music). Dinning on a Sunday???? hmmmm....I'll have to think about that one....how about The Standard on Sunset? (Not downtown)

    Cheers.

  13. not my scene

Not mine either, but I know the owner. Unfortunately, I'm not going to ask favors from her except when I need it for out of town friends. So...basically, you need to get the hotties to get on Bolthouse's guest list. Only way to get in.

But here's a little tip: the same scene goes on at El Centro on Thursdays. And there, if you get there early (10:00 - 10:30), they'll let you in advance of the bolthouse crowd but you pay $10.00. (at least it used to be that way). Good luck.

    Imad.

  14. You don't call a lawyer, doctor or even an engineer to design The Good Life... You call upon the Architects, baby!! Hope to see a few of youz this Thursday. Imad.

  15. I can recommend my club, THE GOOD LIFE @ Room 5, 143 N. La Brea, every thursday. Weekly guest DJ playing great house music in an intimate dance setting. Check out my other posting on this for details.

As far as Afterhours, there are plenty the weekends: Inspiration on Fridays is really good uplifting deep house music, but there is always something going on in the big clubs (Avalon - Spider on Fridays;Naked downtown etc...), and the Larchmot on Saturday LATE afterhours.

Hope that kinda helped. Welcome to LA.

    best,

    Imad.

  16. Last Thursday was truly crazy. Thank you Oliver Twist (that guy is a talented mf), and the Hungarians who really brought it. Place was packed and the vibe was awesome. This coming Thursday? none other than LA legends The Vinyltribe DJs. If you want to hear some serious funky house, come out next thursday. Or you can stay home and watch olympic badmington. That's good too. Imad.
