  4. almanyc_RAZAJuly08Flyer.jpg

Raza has been preserving, educating and paying homage to the Afro-Latin culture through art, music and dance for over a year in New York City. It has successfully merged the traditional rhythms of the past and the progressive sound of today. Coming from the House music scene, which explores various world sounds and attracts an mixture of ethnicities RAZA will delve into a global sound, bringing beats, artists and musicians from around the world creating a brand new movement called Raza Worldwide.

We begin our journey with a group of talented people from different parts of the world...

This special evening of entertainment will include singing performances by Manchildblack, who brings to the music world uplifting and socially conscious lyrics, a bohemian sense of style, and a warm and inviting spirit that illuminates every stage he graces. Like his idols Stevie, Donny, Marvin and Gil, Manchildblack is on a mission to heal, educate and elevate audiences through inspirational songs of life, love and self-discovery. Manchildblack is this generation’s true renaissance man. His music and mission are both clear and powerful and is now resonating with audiences around the world. "This is about more than me, it’s about a movement and I plan to be one of the leaders in the forefront of the change that’s coming".

Also gracing the mic is Agape ft. Nadia Harris, an explosive new sound fit and reflective of the new millennium, arriving via Miami Beach with the strength of full vocal songs that are at the same time meaningful and soulful. Front woman of the group, singer and songwriter, Nadia Harris, brings forth a beautiful voice drenched with the soul and rich heritage of her up bringing in the hills of Kingston, Jamaica. At the same time, Producer Erick Paredes, of Peruvian decent, creates the music that defies frontiers and categories, taking the message and vibration to new and diverse demographics. The group glows with a truly international sound that encompasses neo-soul, dub, drum n’bass, broken-beat, nu-jazz, Latin and dub-house. Its organic, electronic and it's deep character leads to easy flow access to all who relate to One Love and enjoy good music.

We will be presenting a live instrumental performance by prolific Musician, Producer and Improvisational Composer Mr. Daniel Moreno. This world traveler has performed in numerous jazz concerts, sacred music festivals and universities all over the world collaborating with everyone from Pharoah Sanders and Les Paul to Roy Haynes, and his musical conduit; Don Cherry. Moreno continues to collaborate with Marc Cary, Graham Haynes, Terreon Gully, Antoine Roney and Baba Olajagun among others. He is also know for his dedication to the now internationally known Speak in Tones, originating from the Walker Stage Jams in Tribeca, NY in the 90's. In the House scene, he befriended Joe Claussell and blessed Spiritual Life with mind-blowing solos for remixes of Nitin Sawhney, Herbie Hancock, Cassandra Wilson and many of our favorites. His work on The RH Factor album by Roy Hargrove recently got rave reviews and included artists Erykah Badu, Angelo, Q-Tip, Stephanie McKay, Steve Coleman and many others. 2006 brought another Grammy award winning recording for Duke Ellington's "Caravan" from Les Paul and Friends American Made Played. When not in the studio Moreno has also spent most of 2006 touring Africa and the US with the vocal sensation Somi and collaborating with Santana bassist Benny Rietveld.

Collaborating alongside Daniel is one of his very good friends, the highly acclaimed French Guianese tap dancer, Tamango. His company, Urban Tap, aims to create a multimedia world related to the rhythms and folklore of Creole culture. “You can almost see the diorama of the world speed behind the band." - The Village Voice. Tamango, a revolutionary tap artist who has been described as "one of the great tap artists performing today, a dancer of astonishing speed and lightness whose feet produce a rippling, richly complex cannonade of tap beats. He never ceases to surprise - don't miss him!" - The New York Times

The DJs for the night are Chris Annibell (Afrokinetic) with a seamless mix of afro-funk, house, soul, broken beat, Latin grooves and jazz. An accomplished DJ and Producer, Annibell has hosted and shared the stage with the likes of Osunlade, Vikter Duplaix, DJ Spinna and Bugz In The Attic's, Daz-I-Kue. And also, Miller Cruz (formerly of ALMA NYC) who’s uniquely Brazilian approach to house music reaches across cultures, eras and genres to create a sound that are both forward thinking in reach, but loyal to its historical roots. Miller has played alongside; Louie Vega, Danny Krivit, Rich Medina, Karizma, King Britt and more.

As all this happens Derek Santiago, Raza’s visual image guru who creates visuals of Latin culture, pin ups, life and love and who is becoming widely known for his vibrantly colored flyers will project live art.

With a Afro-Latin foundation, deep and soulful house music roots and a melange of international sounds, we bring you “Raza Worldwideâ€.

Australia calls it a ‘stagette’, Canada calls it a ‘hen party’ and in South Africa it’s called a ‘kitchen tea' but at Kitty Kitty Bang Bang here in NYC we’re calling it a “Rite of Passage Pajama Partyâ€.

Ladies, you are invited for a night of freedom, relaxation and intoxication. Leave behind the stress of the week and unwind. It will be a fun-filled night to pamper the queen in us all. Join REDness and Joann Jimenez as they feature 7 of the fiercest female DJs in NYC; Francesca, Jackie Sommer, Dat Kat, Roze Royze, Sabine, Rubi and Dat Gurl aka Curly.

Come hang in your pjs while playing games like; pin the cock, twister, limbo, pass the bubble, scavenger hunt, cucumber race and all the other naughty games, with a Kitty Kitty Bang Bang twist. Win prizes or simply be a voyeur. Honor yourself with a $1/per minute massage or a free make-up application. Bring your friend(s) who put their lover’s things out there in a box ‘to the left, to the left’ or bring that sistah that’s ‘waiting to exhale’. Have your tarot cards read....what does your future hold? Or toss your cares to the wind with the element of surprise and dance the night away.

Come cleanse and release, find your voice, put flowers in your hair and thank Mother Nature for your passion. Let’s nurture one another, make new friends and start the summer fresh on a night we'll be sure to remember.

You can bring an object of an ‘ex’ to auction or dispose of or bring anything you’d like to pamper others with ie; chocolate covered strawberries, lollipops, flowers, stickers, candles, incense, that facial scrub that’s to die for! Bring a phrase or a quote that will inspire others to ‘run with wolves’ to be included in the Kitty Kitty Bang Bang scrap book. Bring the best advice you’ve ever heard and shout it out, the funniest experience you’ve had and share it at the bar or a secret no one knows to go in the ‘anonymous box’. Share anything easy and inexpensive that would bring a smile to YOU with others.

Please, leave your judgments and regrets at the door! Come re-light your flame and let it burn bright.

So take out those ‘batas’, pajamas or the lingerie that was wasted THAT NIGHT and find your crown, dust it off and come celebrate life with us.

Just for Fun... just for girls!
