  1. i understand your frustration, weyes, but the standard rooftop parties are supposed to be a scene (ala rehab in vegas, various pool parties at WMC). so naturally, the people that go there fit the bill.

i've had a great time at these parties cause i like the grooves, the view, and the hot chicks. if that means that they have to be more stringent at the door, so be it. but trust me, i also like casual, less "scene-y" parties too. it all depends on what i'm in the mood for and what i'm expecting.

everyone has the places and parties that fit their niche... or even their mood, like in my case. after all, if every place had the same vibe and people, wouldn't it all be redundant?

this party happens to be for the people that want to be knee-deep in a cool/trendy party that feels exclusive. after all, this is LA, scene of all scenes. the standard delivers that product and they deliver it well.

but i do understand your frustration...

this is a horrible attempt at an analogy. what did you get on your SATs?

remember, you get 200 points just for signing your name!!!

  3. i learned in my first 30 days in LA that guest lists here - unless it's owned by management - mean nothing. NOTHING.

when i first moved here, i don't know how many times i spent over an hour outside a club surrounded by people on various lists. "are you on the list?" "yeah, i am. are you? "what list are you on?" "oh yeah, i'm on that one." "well, i'm on this one." while we all stood outside like jagoffs.

unless it's a list overseen by management or the talent, it's crap.

  4. WOW. what a great night.

sorry i missed everyone - i'm pretty sure i saw weyes, but once i realized it, she was gone.

i checked out just about every scene - my only regret was not checking out hybrid much at all. diggers, deep dish (was it just sharam?), hell even jokenfold and christopher lawrence (not normally my bag) were all great. wandering from good music to really good music was a treat.

i even ended up at the mayan until 6:30ish - awesome.
