  1. Or just get in line by 9:30 / 10:00 and pay $40 to $50 total and enjoy yourselves because clubs don't turn away well dressed couples just because someone is plus size. 90%+ of people who go to clubs just wait in line, pay entry and go in. You don't need to tip anyone to get in or hire outside services unless you really want to skip the line or sit at a table and somehow drink 1 or 2 bottles between a couple. On the other hand if you're looking for that VIP treatment, prepare to pay a lot for it.

  2. My recent favorite, after someone waited in line for almost 2 hours on Saturday: "What, the cover doesn't include drink tickets? We just went to the Beach last night and they know what they're doing. I want to speak to someone in management because you guys obviously don't know how to run a business!"

Other favorites: "These nike's cost over $100!" and "We have 15 guys in this bachelor party. Don't we get a group discount?"

  3. Honestly LaLate, with all due respect, it sounds to me like your panties are in a knot over a few isolated incidents involving individuals who represent only a small portion of an organization's full staff. I read your report, and noticed some references to an experience you had at OPM. What you probably didn't realize is that the Clark County fire marshal has been on a mission lately to let clubs know they cannot overpack their venues, and they must keep certain areas clear. The area you were standing in was one of those areas, and the security personel had just been reamed earlier that day. Shit happens. So does that make the whole venue bad because you were asked to move, even if the guy wasn't friendly about it? No, the venue is just as good as before with a few isolated staff issues that need to be addressed, as management tries to do everywhere.

  4. I personally think OPM's a better choice. No shootings ;) Upscale dress code. Always peaceful and friendly. Two rooms on Thursday now. R&B and Hip-Hop in the main room. 100% house in the new Naughty room. Located in the world famous Caesars Forum Shops.

  5. Wednesday: Industry night - FREE ALL NIGHT FOR EVERYONE on the guest list... Comment your full name and number of guests here... Myspace.com

Thursday: HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG in the new Naughty Lounge!! Plus Hip-Hop in the main room OF COURSE :)

Sunday: Jump on the Bay Area Yellow Bus Mayne!! Get Hyphy, Go Stupid, Get Dumb, and Ghost Ride Your Whip to OPM!! Yeeee Yeeee Yeeeeeee!

  6. I don't know about every spot in Vegas, but my personal experience has been an extreme and sudden drop in Nightclub business around town since Labor Day.

Who's been out since Labor Day and what have your experiences been concerning clubgoer traffic. I wonder if the promoters can be honest too ;)

Can we expect a recovery, especially on the weekdays anytime before Spring Break?

  7. While we're tooting, OPM has been hitting capacity almost every Thursday this summer, if real Hip-Hop is your thing. The crowd is hot, and much more mainstream than the weekends. The dress code is upscale with no exceptions.

  8. Exactly. There's a more effective way to promote your interests. Always offer to help and address the actual question at hand. People will flock to you if they know you are sincere and helpful. Offer all options, and if applicable, mention your interest's option as well with a short plug. For example, when Mr. Vegas offered a very helpful list of busy clubs, he included the club he was representing every night, but he didn't put it as the top club any night, because it wasn't the busiest club on any given night. He achieved gaining credibility and at the same time gave people the option to learn about his spot. Others here would have put their interests first and everyone in the know would have just discounted the post as spam, and nobody would refer to the post. The Mr. Vegas post has been pointed to from all over the Internet because it was accurate and helpful.

  9. Give us an idea of what you would enjoy. Music, vibe, crowd, size of venue, etc.

For example if you said urban hip-hop I'd say OPM. House music I'd say Ice or Empire. Mashups, I'd say Body English. Small venue, I'd say Tabu or Forty Deuce. Large, I'd say Tao or Pure. Lots of options so any details would be appreciated.

  10. Hey man you may have to wait in line for that hook-up ;) Seriously though, very nice meeting you. Last night was really slow for us - only about 500 people the whole night (Wednesdays have been approaching 1000 lately). I know it was the calm between the storms - July 4 weekend last week and a big Mosley fight this weekend.

Anytime you wish to come in, let me know in advance (djmw@freevegasclubs.com) or hit my cell. We have worked really hard to bring the service to a new level and also pack the place every night we're open. Again thanks for coming by and I'm happy we changed your negative view to a positive one. That means a lot to me. -djmw

  11. I agree, and Fridays aren't even "all that" at Tao. Who told you that policy. If it was an in-house club staff member, go with an outside host. There are plenty of people who can help you right on this board. If it was an outside host, try calling the club directly. I'm sure it can be worked out.

  12. OPM has been getting so many Tangerine "defects" on Wednesdays, it's almost silly. Thank heaven for Tangerine's amazing "customer satisfaction" :)

  13. You don't need to know how to djing both types of music, but my point is that if you can you are BETTER than those who can't.

That's very different than your original "shut up and start practicing." I still don't think Kid Capri or Grandmaster Flash should "shut up and start practicing" if they can't rock an electronic set. Honestly I'd venture to guess your actual point is that you feel YOU can rock both sets so you're better than us djs who focus on one genre, but then again that's just an educated guess based on your history of putting down other djs who don't live up to your own perceived skills.

About the any type of equipment, so what your saying is that if I uses a premade top 40 mix on a computer and just play for a top 40 crowd and everyone is happy that means I'm a good dj? No matter what type of equipment I use right? It's still my mix, but I just did it before the gig.

Of course not, but that's not even applicable to what I said either. A pre-recorded mix is hardly reacting to a crowd and leading them along a path as I stated. Sometimes I think you create arguments just for the sake of arguing.

It's all politics, let's just put it that way. Skills have nothing to do with it....PERIOD!!!!

So you're saying that DJ A.M., Kid Capri, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Franzen, myself and yourself hold down parties JUST because of politics?? Skills have NOTHING to do with it? Are you really THAT closed minded?
