  1. Dr. Dremo's rules. Best chocolate stout EVAR!!! Tuesdays rock w/ the B Movies in the downstairs area. Been waiting for a good opportunity to go back.
  2. Um, cuz that's pretty fucking cheap considering WMC is what we in the hotel business call "a citywide." That means the likelihood of all hotels in the city selling all of their rooms is very, very high which means rates will be priced (for that area) around a $259 Avg Daily Rate. $199 is a deal. Luckily I got my employee discount w/ Hilton for $29/night.
  3. This will be our last party @ Ocean Drive. And it will kick ass. It's been a while since Bryan Cox has played in the area. Keep an eye out for more District Ignition events as we have 2 parties that will be opening up within DC on Friday & Saturday nights.
  4. and let's not forget about the R&R Hotel parties too. looks like there's a lot of RANDOM but big, recognizable names coming thru there... Dieselboy, Charles Feelgood etc...
  5. 10/6 :: PARANOID JACK @ PREFIX 10/7 :: VA FIELD PARTY 10/13 :: JOSH WINK @ FIVE 10/14 :: GABRIEL & DRIESDEN @ GLOW 10/20 :: BRYAN COX @ PREFIX 10/20 :: TOM STEPHAN AKA SUPERCHUMBO @ FIVE 10/27 :: HYBRID @ WOOLEY MAMMOTH 10/27 :: KING BRITT @ FIVE 10/28 :: DB @ WOOLEY MAMMOTH That's just a glimpse... there's a shitload more and each of these events listed pull a crowd.
  6. District Ignition presents... PreFix @ Ocean Drive Nightclub 11230 Grandview Ave Silver Spring, MD $15 (ladies free before 11pm) 18+ / 21 to drink PARANOID JACK (Stickman, Thrust - CA) In a few short years, Paranoid Jack has become an established name in the underground scene. He's been licensed to CD's by people as varied as Nigel Richards, Roger Sanchez, George Morel, Eddie Amador, and Steve Lawler. His records are consistently found in the boxes of the world's top DJ's, and (most gratifying to him) his career is being followed by some of the people he respects most. LISTEN TO "No Rest For The Wicked" LISTEN TO "Bring Back The Jack" LISTEN TO "The Lick" 2RIP VS. CHRISTAUFF (District Ignition - DC) Considering both DJ's have identical preferences in music, it only seems appropriate that they perform a tagteam set to hype the crowd up before Paranoid Jack. Both DJ's have played every well known venue in DC and have also panned out into other regions around the country. Expect to hear a blend of new & old tech-house mixed with soul mixed with acid and throbbing bass. KEN LAZEE (Upfront Industries, Section 8 - VA) Ken is the man behind the operations at Upfront's "DNB:Sessions" as well as a main component in operating Club Five's "The Five Spot." Ken has ripped floors all over the district including the main room at Nation and provides a flavor of funk that everyone can enjoy. Opening up the night, he will be dropping an eclectic mixture of house to get things started off right.
  7. Ah, gotcha. Are you operating a weekly there or just in town to play?
  8. Werd up Randy. I actually get wore out from attending (or trying to attend) all the parties there are now. Just so happens that Buzz was kind of a central place for everyone. Now they have all scattered to different venues. Most of which are definitely packin the house.
  9. ha! cool promo. hope your night rocks. where in the fuck is that tho???
  10. Hmmm... looks interesting. Maybe I can finally get myspace at work.
  11. Thanks for chiming in Ed. I can't take the whole "zomg the scene is dying" shit. There's plenty of stuff... it just takes people getting off their asses OR reading the flyers that are in their face to realize there's stuff all over the joint to choose from. Some parties are flops, some are bumpin. Some are just simply "ok." Either way I can't say that anything isn't worth trying out at least once.
  12. i'm literally shitting my pants in laughter here. go easy on the guy.
  13. I can call you Lola I guess. Would need some form of proof for the latter tho.
  14. Sorry, cheech. I've spent the last few years on other messageboards. For clarity sake cuz I'll admit it did come off as contradiction in each paragraph. - DC has a dance music scene that is thriving - it's not "underground rave stylee" but more focused on locals with huge draw & big email lists - no one is booking people like DJ Dan or Sasha except for FUR and their crowd is so mixed that it keeps tons of people away - there's about 10 weekly & monthly events that book midlining dj's. these events are hit or miss - there's another 5 or 6 that cater to all local "underground" dj's that get a max of 40 people if they are lucky Hope this makes more sense. Sorry for the last retarded post. My mind was definitely a little loopy. More from working my ass off as opposed to the X. Also for clarity sake... I never said I've seen all the clubs come & go. I grew up in Pittsburgh when it was rave central and then all of a sudden it turned into a city of too many weeklies with locals that drew no one. Then State College which picked up a lot of the stragglers from Pgh's scene cuz they were booking headliners. Then all of a sudden some chick dies from overheating and all the companies quit. I was mostly saying that for as many different areas in the nation that have gone from thriving in an underground non-dresscode sort of way to zip, zilch, and nada... it'd be nice to see that some of the party promoters would learn that the lack of creativity only feeds the lack of interest in the parties. For example...whatever happened to light shows?? I will give exceptions in DC to Club Five because they've got a nice setup there...
  15. dude... everytime i look at your name i interpret it as "LOL a hotass"
  16. I'm WAY WAY too lazy to search for myself to see if I've ever posted in intro thread. Plus this computer I'm on at work SUCKS MY ASS! Would like to start by saying "Hello." And I'd leave it at that if it wouldn't make this the most BS post of the century. So this is it. About me: Height: 6'3 Sex: Male Hair: Brown A/S/L ORLY? 25/uhhh male derr/washington DC Moved to this crazy place 2 years ago after living in Pittsburgh, PA. I used to assist with throwing some parties in that area, the most notable was Groove @ Club Laga. I also lived in Penn State for a while where I drank everynight and had a lot of sex. Now I'm all settled down, dj'ing out of state as much as I can and working full-time as a manager for Hilton Hotels. My word of the day is: hyar. Sandwich of the day award goes to: italian sub roll, smoked turkey breast, avacado, tomato, onion, and american cheese Drink of the day award: water... lots and lots of water (i'm detoxing) Hope this wasn't a complete waste of your 2 mins. Oh yeah, and if you're wondering if I'm sexy enough to talk to (i know you ladies like to judge) you can find me at www.myspace.com/2rip or my dj account at www.myspace.com/dj2rip but the second one is not quite finished. . HYAR
  17. I don't see what's wrong with DC. The clubs aren't really pulling in the names that they once did but these things tend to happen. Unfortunately I've gotten to see the rise & fall of several "scenes." It's kind of eerie to see it happen repeatedly, over & over in each one. People don't learn from the mistakes of others. DC *HAS SHIT GOING ON* and there's tons of clubs that are packing up on a weekly basis. DC *HAS* venues that are bookings lots and lots of EDM. It's just not on the scale that it was a year or two ago. The bottom line is that there's people out there that are trying. Myself being one of them. Unfortunately for the DC rave culture, not many people outside the tight-knit groups of friends are willing to try anything out that isn't Buzzlife. Buzz has been huge and with Nation closing I've been impacted severly but the truth is that life goes on. There's tons of parties that are busting their asses and their wallets to make it happen. Ugh... anyway, I realize that I probably contradicted myself but my main point is that there's clubs that are doing great and without internationally known expensive as shit dj's. Then there are the clubs that are pouring out money on dj's and not getting the attedance they should. And THEN there's the clubs who just book no-name locals and do equally as shitty. There IS a scene. There IS dance music. It just so happens that it's all fucked up.
  18. SERIOUSLY. This party will be dope. But why??? a) the sound system rocks the club is CLEAN & reminds me of something on South Beach c) the dress code isn't strict at all. they just don't allow anyone to wear candy, which is fine by me d) Terry Mullan FUCKING ROCkS IT e) Edan FUCKING ROCKS IT f) I FUCKING ROCK IT g) A large list of people have already RSVP'ed
  19. TERRY MULLAN - Chicago/San Diego :: Funk'd Recordings/Catalyst Records Terry Mullan, Chicago's turntablist extraordinaire, turns out dance floors week after week throughout the US and abroad. His credits include Spundae, Sona, Bugged Out, The End, Pure, The Queen amongst raves as far off as Japan, Australia, England, France, Belgium, Scotland, Austria, Spain and Germany. He has developed a faithful following to those who know through his signature style of funky quirky jacking acid house combined with cutting and scratching making up an entirely new genre all his own. The eighties posed as the formative years of Terry's career. Although his roots began in hip-hop, he found himself smack in the middle of the Chicago house explosion. House and Disco were styles of music that were entirely new to Terry, but the match was struck. Soon after gaining inspiration from the Chicago radio DJ’s like Farley “Jackmaster†Funk, and Mike "Hitman" Wilson via 102.7 WBMX, Terry made house his home. Next, when acid house hit the US, the link was completed. Terry found the sound he was looking for. Never one to follow the masses, he borrowed from each genre to create what we all know to be Terry's sound, putting a bad ass twist on an otherwise conservative house scene.
