hoke
I'm really sick of living in Queens... the N train is always delayed or out of service, so I end up spending a ton of money on cabs... plus it's far from the downtown/village area, which is where I work and play, so it's not really convenient anyway. What are decent, affordable neighborhoods in Brooklyn that are close to the city?By affordable, I mean I could get a reasonably sized studio or 1 bedroom for $900-$1000.Suggestions? royallyunique
Come to Bay Ridge. It isn't too far from the city (unless of course you have to travel to midtown for work like me). It's affordable and there's tons to do from bars to yummy restaurants. You can find a fantastic one bedroom for under a thousand. Check it out. roya

barvybe
Bay Ridge is sweet, but also a $20 plus cab ride from the city when you don't feel like waiting for the 45 minutes subway ride.Check out Greenpoint. It's sandwiched between Williamsburg and LI City, right on the water opposite about 30th st. in Manhattan. Its a polish family oriented neighborhood. Not a lot of restaurants and stuff, but its only 1 mile from williamsburg and a 10 minute walk to PS1. Oh, and its a 10 dollar cab ride from most places in the city.PM if you want more info like where to find no fee apt. postings.

tastyt
I live in Carroll Gardens and I absolutely love it... it might be a little tough finding something in that price range if you don't want a roomate, but if you do see anything affordable there... you definitely want to check it out.
