record pools

Does anyone know how to get into record pools. I am tired of waiting around for everyone else to get theirs before I get mine.

How do I get into one?

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but basically if you want to be in one and you're not already established (and your friends don't have an 'in') you have to start one yourself. Just make sure to get as many established people as possible, then bring credentials to the distributors (or labels if you have someone seriously big).

A record pool is basically where a bunch of DJs in a certain type of music have a promo deal set up with a label and/or distributor. Essentially, for DJs who play out but aren't well known enough to automatically get the records in the mail, the companies are willing to get the records to you earlier for a fee in an attempt to hype up the record a little bit. The reason it's a pool is because the labels will usually only send one of each record to the pool and then the pool divvies them up between the DJs. So really, there isn't any trading involved...
