LavenderMenace Posted September 18 Report Share Posted September 18 Alderaan feels the force of George LucasAlderaan, the renowned and respected progressive house night in Liverpool has to sacrifice its name after four and a half years following pressure from George Lucas, the legendary Star Wars creator. This came about as a result of Alderaan’s increased profile, as news of the name being used out of the context of a Star Wars film reached Hollywood. In a situation that is comparable to Tom Middleton’s struggle over the Jedi Knights moniker, they have decided to compromise with the name.As a result Alderaan will be having two closing parties. The first, being on August 9th with ‘King of Alderaan’, Danny Howells doing a five-hour set and the second on 3rd September when the residents will play the Alderaan classics all night.Alderaan, which has been based at The Lemon Lounge in Liverpool, is having to evolve into a new concept. Alderaan resident Steve Parry and promoter Lee Omar have joined forces with Chibuku Shake Shake promoter Richard McGinnis to present Aztec.Aztec will take Alderaan to the next level, after a new niche has appeared in Liverpool clubbing after the demise of cream and other Liverpool clubs. Aztec’s music policy will encompass house, techno, breaks and electro and feature the worlds top DJs. This year will include guest appearances from Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Darren Emerson and James Zabiela. Aztec will begin its new monthly nights on Friday September 20th at The Masque, Seel Street, Liverpool with Sander Kleinenberg, 16B and Steve Parry.Speaking about the new night Promoter Lee Omar said “We want to bring the fun back into clubbing, as its all got a bit too serious lately.
