The general problem stems from a spun rod bearing. End result is thrown a rod through the block . OUCH! All u bimmer owners better watch out. Remember, it IS NOT A RACECAR . . Wake up people . . . . . . Actually the M3 engine is basically prepped for race car specs. I mean think about it.... 333hp out of 3.2Liters naturally aspirated. That is pretty freakin insane. The only thing that comes close is the S2000, 240Hp out of 2.0liters. The only problem with the S2000 is that you have to push it past 6-7k to get it to move. No low end torque. These folks voided their warranty because of exceeding redline AFTER the break in period. If you are redlining during the break in period you need to relax and think about what you are doing.Peak horsepower is found below redline anyway, there is no reason to exceed redline unless your car is seriously modified. Not to mention the fact that the redline on an M3 is 8,000rpm. Some of these guys got nailed for taking their engine to 8,700. But that is not what blew up their motor. They had problems driving normally, not while pushing it into the red. There is a manufacturing flaw here, seems like it has been taken care of though.
