epik-bunny
Ok... I am back... here at the house... and here is my Armin Van Buuren/New York City review. We got to NYC at 11:45 p.m. on Friday night. Due to rain, our plane was late. We stand in a long line, and get a taxi to the city. From there we meet up with our friend at his Holiday Inn (which he no longer has a room at... because he hasn't stayed in his room for 3 days... so they had just given it away!). We catch a cab to go to the Roxy... and we get there around 1:00 a.m. ... as we pull up outside the club... there is NO LINE to get in... and it just a very plain, old building... and I am thinking to myself, "We flew all the way from Dallas for THIS?". So, we go in... and we find that the outside tells nothing about what's inside. The club is tight. Lots of places to sit... a couple of bars... different levels... great lighting... huge dancefloor... with a platform to stand on to see the DJ... and awesome sound. We settle in near a railing and wait for the man to hit the decks. Finally, around 2:00 a.m. AVB steps up. Unfortunately, due to his plane being late (it was raining in NYC)... he got on late. Heaven.... all I can say is... Heaven! What a great set he played. Just what I NEEDED. Perfection. Beautiful. Magnificent. I just closed my eyes... listened to the tracks... and breathed in deep. He played a few older tracks... but they were thrown in at the right spot. One minute he would be light, the next hard... then he would play something mundane and low tempo... and kick it back up again. During his set I ran around the club meeting people all over the place... I used the "Hello, I am from Dallas, TX.."... and they were NICE everytime! The crowd was great really. Diverse. Into the music... and dancing. Near the end of his set... around 5:30 a.m. I headed up to the dancefloor in front of the DJ so I could watch up close for awhile. The crowd was dancing... and screaming... it was great! Up on the stage/dancefloor I met this guy Kareem who said that he partied in Toronto a lot, and he is from NYC... then he told me that he shook AVB's hand and I was like, "You suck"... he said, "You want to?"... so we went up front and he picked me up so I could shake his hand. How nice of him... eh? After AVB ended his set at 6:15 a.m. we headed to Vinyl... which is now Arc... to see Danny Tenaglia... since he is also on our list of "must see" Dj's. We get there and pay $25 to get in... and the club is rocking. Good crowd... people dancing... tight sound... and Danny is going off. After standing for a few minutes.. and me using the last of my energy to dance... we finally found a place to chill... and listen. Overall, Danny Tenagila was very nice. Great mixing, and good track selection. And, even though I enjoyed him, I can say that he sounded no better to me than some of our locals... So, I am glad I saw him... cause I now know not to make a special trip to see him. We left that club at 9:00 a.m. and started the long trek to Queens to stay with our friends friend. Oh yes, we made friends with the Subway! Around 11:00 a.m. we made it to our destination... and then crashed at 1:30 p.m. At 5:00 we woke up and found us some New York style pizza to chow on. Yummy. Then, I decided that we needed to go tour NYC. Trent was feeling bad so he stayed at home, and my friend and I hit the streets. I saw.... Grand Central Station, The Empire State Bulding, Rockafella Center (the tree and skating rink), MTV studios, Time Square, Central Park, The WTC site, Wall Street, The New York Stock Exchange, Penn Station.... all in around 6 hours! Boy, we did lots of walking... and I was figuring out the Subway system by the end of it! Overall.. our trip was wonderful! Too short. But great none-the-less... I am just happy that we go to go! I can now say that I have been to NYC... and if there is another DJ there that I want to see... I WILL be going back!
x-phactor
armin fuckinggg owned...i got there at around 11:30 and there was absolute no line, got in, joe "ZzZ' lodi was spinnin some boring ass music, i swear it was putting me to sleep no offense, than 1:45, armin approaches the decks..and omggg he starts his set with tears from the moon (hybrid mix) woooo what a good starter, he played sooooo manny goodies, i cant believe he dropped BT - Godspeed, that was soo SICKK! and Plasticboy - Silverbath WOO soo manyy good traxx he playeddd anddomgg i cant believe i caught one of the vinyls he threw out..i also got it signed. it was yet another day with hh remix and yet another dub on back side. I also got my cell phone signed lol but yea overall armin fucking owned, he gets interactive with the crowd like tiesto but mixes hell lot better than tiesto. armin definitely proved to be my #2 dj, but my #1 spot still goes to the man/god himself, PVD!
