Last night at crobar was another example of a producer who tried to become a DJ....Rui had some great tunes, but he should have let someone else play them for him. I'm not hating on Rui, but there are huge differences in producers becoming dj's and dj's becoming producers. Production work is an artform just as being a dj is but anybody can take two weeks and learn how to mix two records together and call themselves a dj. It takes a lot more time to become a great producer. I've always liked Rui's work. I have many old twisted records produced by him and I keep up with his current work too. I just think that when you have skills as a producer like he does and you want to start dj'ing more, then he should work harder at dj'ing. Case in point....Timo Maas...great producer...very bad DJ. Bottom line anyone can have an off night, a few blown mixes, a bad crowd, a long flight....whatever. But he still has a job to do and should do it to the best of his ability....In my opinon he sold himself out at crobar.
