Iraq War - Support Our Troops

After watching & reading several different news stories on the war, I heard something on the radio that made a lot of sense and thought I'd share it w/ you. I'll do my best to explain what I heard.

In 1991(Gulf War 1), the media feeding frenzy went above and beyond to criticize and nit pick Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf for his "arrogant" and "cavalier" attitude about the strategy he was openly sharing w/ the world on how we would push Saddam out of Kuwait. The General openly claimed we were superior in all areas and would take on Saddam and his army "HEAD-ON" and drive him straight out of Kuwait. All the while, a huge army division was "secretly" being massed to the east of the enemy. After a careful and methodic bombing campaign which eliminated the majority of the armored divisions of Saddam, the ground campaign went into full effect. While Saddam massed his troops all together, expecting this so-called "HEAD-ON" attack, the Iraqi army found themselves isolated after losing most of their armored weapons to bombing and being surprisingly flanked by the left by the army division which our General secretly and purposely commanded. It was after having the majority of their armored vehicles taken out w/ by our aerial campaign and after isolating these Iraqi's in Kuwait by secretly sneaking up from the left while leaving a huge force that was supposedly going to attack them head on, we basically had the enemy surrounded and isolated from their home country. Then, sure enough, the mass surrenders came faster than we could handle them.

So, basically, the General successfully used the world media in his "dis-information" campaign to fool Saddam and the world into thinking we were just going to arrogantly attack them head on. The media, willingly went along w/ everything the General said. They took the bait, HOOK, LINE AND SINKER! They questioned the goal of "telegraphing" our strategy to the world. They claimed the beginning of WWIII, and so on, and so on and so on(doom & gloom). The ground war was a huge success which lasted something like 6 weeks. The media was left looking stupid for trying to "arm-chair quarterback" the war and questioning a highly decorated military Generals strategy. One would think they would have learned their lesson in 1991???? Apparently not, and here's why.

This war is 6 days old, the ground attack on Baghdad has not yet begun. The bombing campaign to eliminate the armored weapons is currently underway. The coalition has advanced into Iraq in record speed w/ minimal casualties (casualties which for the most part are due to either friendly fire or a taking a wrong turn in the dead of night, NOT due to "fierce fighting" by Iraqi's). A couple army and marine divisions are yet to be heard of as to what they are doing and where they are located, although we know they have been "in theater" for some time. Both U.S. and U.K. military leaders, including Tony Blair have openly & arrogantly been "telegraphing" our "supposed" strategy to the media in an apparent attempt to imply the overwhelming, unstoppable power our military coalition has. Thus far, our media is showing the world how some divisions are coming from the south, the east and the north to surround Baghdad, what about the west?? The media seems immersed in their "second guessing" of our strategy, just as they did in Gulf War 1. They seem to being eating it all up. The ridiculous, asinine and moronic questions being posed to our military leaders @ CentCom in Qatar is proof of their inability to comprehend war, tactics and strategy. I could be wrong, but it seems to me our military campaign has been mild, thus far. I don't think we've seen shock and awe yet? On the contrary, I'm led to believe the shock and awe is yet to come. I strongly believe the same "dis-information" campaign is in FULL EFFECT to keep Saddam, his military and the world press guessing. I think the press reflexively and instinctually highly underestimate our military leaders who's career revolves around war, history of war, tactics and strategy of war compared to the media "specialist" who might have a BA in journalism or in "101 ways to cook w/ granola".

Call me crazy, but much of the stuff I'm reading and seeing does not make sense. We've been 50 miles away from Baghdad for 3 days???? The CIA has reportedly claimed approx 25,000 Iraqi enemies have been killed. The politics of this war seem to be suppressing the amount of casualties the Iraqi's are suffering for some unknown reason? It seems to me the "DIS-INFORMATION CAMPAIGN" is in full effect. So, before anyone falls into the trap being set by the media, use logic and just sit back. Keep the "knee-jerk" reactions to a minimum until this is all over to avoid any egg on your face. Again, just my opinion. I suggest we stop looking at this war through a soda straw and step back to see the bigger picture. The big picture looks pretty impressive, in favor of the coalition, according to all the military experts, not media elite's.

God Bless our troops and our President who are fighting for something which most of us are born with and take for granted

FREEDOM

ps. Never forget, great presidents are not judged during times of peace and prosperity, rather during the tough times, which we now face.

France, Russia and Germany

Same three Countries now being investigated for selling weapons to Iraq.

We should investigate ourselves too for selling chemicals to Iraq then.

Truth is , is all about the $$$$. :blown:

well if they are our "ALLIES" they should start fawkin acting like it...China, Germany, Russia and the French should assume responsibility for selling "UN SANCTIONED" items to Iraq..but then again, who cares about the UN anyways...its a failure and waste of time for many things...the Iraq problem being one of those situations...

I support the coalition troops . I don’t support the political and economic agenda, which brought them to Iraq. 47 members of the coalition, have lost their lives thus far. It's frightening to imagine how many more lives, will be lost once this battle reaches the streets of Baghdad. All I can say is God Bless the Coalition Troops, and please keep them safe.

Be careful when u use that word god....that word in itself has caused more war than oil, occuoation or whatever other reason there is out there....so be careful who u bless with that word...

and on another note....seems to me like our government and space run things the same way...all about the $$$$$$ no matter how they screw the people....things would be alot better if we would live by the words of the greatest song ever made which is imagine by John Lennon...if things were like that things would be wonderful.

and who sold Iraq the chemical weapons they are about to unleash on US troops??? WE DID!!!

NO BODY AROUND THE WORLD WANTED THIS WAR EXCEPT FOR PRES. BUSH AND HIS BUSINESS BUDDIES. THE WORLD CRIED OUT AND PROTESTED, THE BIGGEST WORLD WIDE ANTI-WAR RALLIES OF ALL TIMES......DID WE LISTEN NO.

NOW WE ARE FORCED TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, JUST AS THEY WERE FORCED TO FIGHT THIS WAR AND INVADE IRAQ. I PRAY THAT NOT ANOTHER AMERICAN DIES OVER THERE. I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BUT I DON'T SUPPORT WHAT THEY ARE BEING TOLD TO FIGHT FOR.

WHAT ARE THEY DYING FOR? FOR FREEDOM? FOR PEACE? FOR WHAT?? THEY ARE THEY ARE NOT DYING FOR A JUST CAUSE. THEY ARE DYING FOR BIG BUSINESS. CONTRACTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN HANDED OUT TO MAJOR OIL COMPANIES, COMUNNICATION COMPANIES AND CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS. THEY ARE ALL GOING TO GET RICH FROM THIS WAR. THATS WHAT THIS FIGHT IS ABOUT...MONEY

IRAQ POSES NOT THREAT TO IT'S NIEGHBORS, TO THE UNITED STATES, OR TO THE REST OF THE WORLD. YES THEY HAVE A DICTATOR AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO REMOVE HIM FROM POWER....BUT THE SAME THING SHOULD CAN BE SAID ABOUT CUBA AND FIDEL CASTRO....HE POSES THE SAME DANGER AS SADDAM DOES....

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY.....IRAQ IS A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD WHO HAS A KNIFE IN HIS HAND......THE UNITED STATES IS AN ADULT WHO SEES THE KNIFE. HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT TAKING THE KNIFE AWAY FROM THE CHILD??? WOULD YOU BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HIM UNTIL HE WAS BARELY ALIVE AND THEN TAKE THE KNIFE? OR WOULD YOU USE YOUR COMMON SENSE AND JUST TAKE IT AWAY FROM HIM??? WHAT HAPPEND TO THE INSPECTORS??

DAY AFTER DAY THE PROTESTS CONTINUE AROUND THE WORLD AND HERE AT HOME. YET PRESIDENT BUSH AND HIS ADVISORS REFUSE TO LISTEN. THEY CONTINUE TO WAGE A CAMPAIGN OF DOUBLE STANDARDS.....IRAQ CAN'T USE CHEMICAL WEAPONS, BUT WE CAN USE DEPLEATED URANIUM WARHEADS WHEN WE BOMB.....IRAQ CAN'T TREAT POWS THE WAY THEY ARE, BUT WE CAN HOLD 100'S OF PEOPLE IN DETENTION CAMPS IN CUBA BASED ON SUSPISION RATHER THAN FACT....IRAQ IS A THREAT TO IT'S NEIGHBORS AND HAS WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRUCTION SO WE WILL FIGHT THEM, BUT WHAT ABOUT ISRAEL??? THEY HAVE UNCHECKED NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND THEY CONTINUE EVERYDAY TO OCCUPY AND TAKE LAND AWAY FROM PALASTINE. AND AMERICA SITS BACK AND SAYS NOTHING

WAKE UP PEOPLE AND RELIZE WHAT HAPPENING AROUND YOU!!!

since some would consider god, neither a being nor object, the use of the same would seem rather subjective in nature. So perhaps peace, and safety can be conveyed; in the manner which is most, appropriate based on one’s beliefs. .;)
