noira
Balan's on Lincoln Road has excellent weekend brunches.the Van Dyke cafe as well on Lincoln has good food.for a treat i'd recommend Tantra for dinner, though this IS on the upscale side. Also the Pelican on ocean drive - never been much impressed with News Cafe.--------------------"My loathings are simple; stupidity, oppression, crime, cruelty, soft music." arrakis
News Cafe is complete tourist shit; Tantra is wonderful... Pelican is very practical, whether it be late night / early morning. BED has pretty good food, but the vibe there is what's really worth checking out. Also, Grillfish is superb for moderately-priced seafood w/ a great atmosphere.------------------"House music... it can change your soul.""The second most popular game that we played as children... is house.""Not everyone understands house music... it's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing." noira
are you talking to arrakis and me? about our news cafe reviews? well - i'm glad you like ONE thing on their menu, but i've been there for breakfast and for lunch on a few occassions and the only thing they didn't totally screw up was my yogurt and granola, but they forgot my bananas i requested three times, and they spilled iced tea on me. --------------------"My loathings are simple; stupidity, oppression, crime, cruelty, soft music." patrickl
I'm partial to the Big Pink. I don't care how cheesy the place and concept itself is, I don't want to hear it. And yes, the service is utter crap, but hey it is on the Beach, par for the course. Why do I like it? Big portions.....tasty......price is right. I could probably drop over $100 at a place like Tantra and not even make a dent in my hunger, I HATE places like that....freaking rip offs....Oh, boneless buffalo wings at TBP are otherwordly <<drool>>
arrakis
Patrick> I agree Big Pink is not a bad spot, but also feel Tantra is well worth the money: faux grass upon entry, Kama Sutra porn playing on a large screen, and one of the most eclectic menus I've seen around; plus a DJ kickin' smooth grooves later in the evening.------------------"House music... it can change your soul.""The second most popular game that we played as children... is house.""Not everyone understands house music... it's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing." phrankadelic
gotta agree w/Tantra. The food is great...as well as the vibe. I went to Opium for the first time last Saturday. Great food, good music, and people goin absolutely nuts in there. Kinda expensive for my pockets, but well worth checking out. ------------------Phrankdaphunk

phrankadelic
It's at Amnesia. Great place let me tell you. And I was surprised at how good the music was too. Beautiful women, and I mean modelesque, all around. It starts jumping at about 1-2AM. Just like Tantra, if you have a dinner reservation, you get in for free. If not...it's 20 bucks. Good thing about these places is that the youngins tend to stay away. Well...i'm only 25, but you know what i mean? No attitude, good vibe.------------------Phrankdaphunk
rsalermo
I agree with the everyone that recommended Tantra. However, if I read your message correctly, your not looking for a pricey location. Tantra is PRICEY! I have spent over $150.00 for a couple for dinner. The dinner was great and so was the atmosphere, but if you want someplace that is reasonably priced and offers a taste of Miami try Lario's. Its the only reasonalby priced restaurant on the strip. The other recommendations were fine as well. News Cafe is touristy, but hey you are coming as a tourist so eat and be merry!
