yeah. wasn't as packed as i thought it was going to be. i guess the whole sunday/easter thing didn't really help. way too many acts to catch. caught some of the sets from these in the beatcamp room:

day

polaris - w/a badass mc. forgot his name.

tsheritage - nice set

and some of chino

the smoke entertainment stage:

the linx - these cats were tight!

aboriginals - the phattest beats and the lyrics...omg. these cats were spitting rhymes like a machine gun. really powerful stuff.

hard rock cafe stage:

some of the monjees. this group sounds a lot like the pie tasters. not that anyone would know who they were.

and last but not least...the originators of the ska sound, the true pioneers - The Skatalites. this is what ska and reggae is all about. what a show they put on. had the whole place bumpin.

tried to stay around for the Liks, but it was 12 and they still weren't on yet. i spoke to them briefly cuz they were hanging next to the state while the skatalites were playing and they were a little bitter that they weren't going on earlier since much of the crowd had left already. so i took off at 12, and they still weren't on.

all in all is what pretty cool. definitely worth it.

Same here ... I tried to stay past midnight but it was time to get home and get some sleep. Don't know if the Liks actually played or not ... but the Skatalites were wicked. Second time I've seen them and it was pretty much the same show ... considering the last time I saw them was like 1996 it's funny ... ska just hasn't changed much in 30+ years I guess :D

BeatCamp room was like the only room with DJs, and was completely different from most of the other "punk rock" spin-off stuff that was going on. Kind of a strange mix, but it was still fun. It definitely had the "festival" vibe.
