rcrespo
Here is a short bio of Joshua.Joshua Wilkins (deepfridays, Tampa, Fl)A dj in development for just over 9 years now, Joshua has been involvedin the West Central Florida electronic scene since early 1993.Originally from North Carolina and raised in Tampa for most of his life,dj'ing just came natural to the self-profess "Little Napoleon".Influenced in his early days by such Florida dj's as Andy Hughes, Styrkeand the crew from Ahzz (Orlando), Joshua's style seemed to evolve. Inthe mid 1990's as head music buyer for Sensuous Sound Systems, Joshuamanaged to develop his skills not only as a dj but as a local promoterputting together several smaller underground house parties beforelanding his first true Saturday Night residency at Tampa's infamousnightclub, The Rubb. Dj'ing at the Rubb was a dream come true forJoshua. Embracing the opportunity to play each and every Saturday withdj's like Dave Seaman, Simon Gordon, Danny Howells/Paul Rogers whileproviding a leading hand in bringing Sasha & Digweed to the venuecertainly blossomed Joshua's career. In late 1999 when the Rubb closeddue to financial troubles, Joshua took a backseat to dj'ing whilefocusing on finishing his educational career. It was during thistime-away from that Joshua's secret passion for deep house music seemedto surface. Getting a bit older and wiser, Joshua went full forcetowards his new found passion for quality underground house music. Hehas never looked back. In 2002 Joshua, alongside 4 other partners created Deepfridays.Deepfridays, was a night rich in atmosphere bridging the gap betweenart, music & culture. Like many nights in Tampa, Deepfridays onlyseemed to last a short while. During that time Joshua played anddeveloped his passion for house music alongside such guests dj's asJask, Jon Lemmon (Viva-Seattle), Raoul Belmans (Swirl People-Belgium),DJ Dixon (Sonar Kollectiv-Berlin), Pete Moss (Ovum), Bill Patrick(Arc,112 Crew), Rick Preston (Viva-San Fran) all the while maintainingthe most successful club night in Tampa throughout the 2002 year.Deepfridays was recognized in such magazines as Urb, Atlanta's LotusMagazine and during its "hay-day" received over 20,000 unique hits in 1months on its website. 2003 has seemed to only pick up the pace forJoshua. Dj'ing at several venues throughout Tampa/St. Pete such as TheLounge & Malios, Hyde Park Café & Bahasa Lounge, Joshua has seen theprivileged to play along special guest dj's like Stryke(Substance-Miami), Olivier Desmet (Amenti/Moulton Studios-San Fran), DJHeather (Chicago), JT Donaldson (Undercover Agency) & Brian Tappert(Soulfuric).Asked to define his style, Joshua responded: "No way man...you get what ever I'm feeling...deep house, twistedtech-funk, jazzy beats, eclectic lounge, electro...sorry to say but itwill never be the same..EVER! It's the environment that draws it out ofme. The smaller more intimate the venue & crowd the better. See you onthe dance floor As you can see this guy is definitely going to bring it. This is yet another special night at Jazid and definitely expect the unexpected. We start at 10pm Sharp and go on till the wee hours of the morning.Jazid is located at1342 Washington Ave Miami Beach FloridaPlease direct all questions/comments/requests to play at Jazid to ramon@restrictedmgmt.comThanks to everyone for their continued support.
