Here is a short bio of Joshua.

Joshua Wilkins (deepfridays, Tampa, Fl)

A dj in development for just over 9 years now, Joshua has been involved

in the West Central Florida electronic scene since early 1993.

Originally from North Carolina and raised in Tampa for most of his life,

dj'ing just came natural to the self-profess "Little Napoleon".

Influenced in his early days by such Florida dj's as Andy Hughes, Styrke

and the crew from Ahzz (Orlando), Joshua's style seemed to evolve. In

the mid 1990's as head music buyer for Sensuous Sound Systems, Joshua

managed to develop his skills not only as a dj but as a local promoter

putting together several smaller underground house parties before

landing his first true Saturday Night residency at Tampa's infamous

nightclub, The Rubb. Dj'ing at the Rubb was a dream come true for

Joshua. Embracing the opportunity to play each and every Saturday with

dj's like Dave Seaman, Simon Gordon, Danny Howells/Paul Rogers while

providing a leading hand in bringing Sasha & Digweed to the venue

certainly blossomed Joshua's career. In late 1999 when the Rubb closed

due to financial troubles, Joshua took a backseat to dj'ing while

focusing on finishing his educational career. It was during this

time-away from that Joshua's secret passion for deep house music seemed

to surface. Getting a bit older and wiser, Joshua went full force

towards his new found passion for quality underground house music. He

has never looked back.

In 2002 Joshua, alongside 4 other partners created Deepfridays.

Deepfridays, was a night rich in atmosphere bridging the gap between

art, music & culture. Like many nights in Tampa, Deepfridays only

seemed to last a short while. During that time Joshua played and

developed his passion for house music alongside such guests dj's as

Jask, Jon Lemmon (Viva-Seattle), Raoul Belmans (Swirl People-Belgium),

DJ Dixon (Sonar Kollectiv-Berlin), Pete Moss (Ovum), Bill Patrick

(Arc,112 Crew), Rick Preston (Viva-San Fran) all the while maintaining

the most successful club night in Tampa throughout the 2002 year.

Deepfridays was recognized in such magazines as Urb, Atlanta's Lotus

Magazine and during its "hay-day" received over 20,000 unique hits in 1

months on its website. 2003 has seemed to only pick up the pace for

Joshua. Dj'ing at several venues throughout Tampa/St. Pete such as The

Lounge & Malios, Hyde Park Café & Bahasa Lounge, Joshua has seen the

privileged to play along special guest dj's like Stryke

(Substance-Miami), Olivier Desmet (Amenti/Moulton Studios-San Fran), DJ

Heather (Chicago), JT Donaldson (Undercover Agency) & Brian Tappert

(Soulfuric).

Asked to define his style, Joshua responded:

"No way man...you get what ever I'm feeling...deep house, twisted

tech-funk, jazzy beats, eclectic lounge, electro...sorry to say but it

will never be the same..EVER! It's the environment that draws it out of

me. The smaller more intimate the venue & crowd the better. See you on

the dance floor

As you can see this guy is definitely going to bring it. This is yet another special night at Jazid and definitely expect the unexpected. We start at 10pm Sharp and go on till the wee hours of the morning.

Jazid is located at

1342 Washington Ave

yes folks there is H-O-U-S-E music in Tampa...the secret is out!

(and its not in Ybor, so don't even go there...lol!)

extremely excited about this opportunity to come play down South. From what I've read and heard Sundays @ Jazid seem to be full of good friends, social vibes and musical flavours....

can't wait to provide my own.....

expect the unexpected as Ramon always posts.....

i'll have around 25 copies of my new summer sessions set

"my house music" for those that ask....plus some extra copies and a late-night downtempo set recorded back in November entitled "an evening with..."

no attitudes, no bias, no expectations, just quality house music in its raw form.

hope you can make it out to say hello, have a cocktail and pick up a free cd...who knows...you might just like it.....

see you all Sunday @ Jazid...

mad respect to Ramon & crew.....

until Sunday....

;)
