STEVE PORTER (bedrock, fade, balance, growroom)

abbasso summer series, part five

Riding high from the success of his latest productions "Nordica" on Fade

Records and "Deported " on Bedrock, Steve's indelible and unique sound is

spreading like wildfire. Something of a child prodigy from a famous

father, but his first love & choice was always music. Discovering

electronic sounds at 16 years old, Steve dove deeply into it all. Along

with his mother, he loaded on decks and studio gear to start learning the

art of DJing and productions. A local record shop in his hometown of

Amherst, MA got him even closer to his goal of music creation. When some

tracks fell into Chris Fortier's hands, it really started moving. Support

quickly followed from more heroes, Sasha & John Digweed, with the release

of "Sensor" and "Mindless" in 1999.

Many labels from around the globe took notice of Steve's talent and Steve

was inundated with remix offers. He would go on to create some of the

classic remixes of 2000 and 2001 including "Two Right Wrongans," "Inner

Laugh" and "Marscarter." Steve has now made a huge mark with his techno

edged house productions. His studio work was only one facet of Steve's two

prong attack. His DJing is where he really rocks the funky beats and makes

some noise. His new move to New York City from Boston has only put more

fuel to the fire by quickly putting a New York residency in his belt at

superclub Centro-Fly. Along with dates across the country and tours with

Sasha and Chris Fortier, Steve is in demand from Taipei to Tampa. With

over 20 remixes to his credit, his Agent 001 project busting down doors,

collaborations with Quivver and Jimmy Van M and new singles coming on Fade

Records, Little Mountain and Chug. His debut artist LP is eminent and

ready to rock.

This summer will finally see the release of Steve's remix of Amber

"Anyways" on Bedrock. As well a remix for Iio "Smooth", forthcoming on

Made Records. Steve's tracks with John Graham entitled "3 Days on 35th/2

Days on Landsdowne" will be seeing a release this summer as well on

Quivver's own Boz Boz label.

Steve's Agent 001 projects, with close pal Eli Wilkie, are already getting

huge support from Pete Tong, Lee Burridge, Sander Kleinenberg, and the

likes. Look for the Agent 001 tracks to be released on Opek, Mother

Tongue, Reversible, POD, and Chug Records in the next few months.

"Vodka Cranberries" is a new Steve Porter single coming out on Nu Republic

Records of the UK with a Sean Cusick remix. Rambient "Karma," a remix

collaboration with Jimmy Van M featured on Nick Warren's new G.U. album

will be released later this year on a label TBA. "Definite Form," signed

by Sander Kleinenberg for his new label called Little Mountain. The track

will also be included on Sander's upcoming mix album.

"Oyster Crackers/Alphabeat Soup," a collaborative effort between Steve and

inspirational friend Chris Reavey will be seeing a release on Fade Records

soon. For more info vist Chris' homepage at www.chrisreavey.com. Source of

Gravity records will be releasing Steve's collaboration with Aaryn Blain

entitled "Surrounding Darkness/Thunkin Brutha" this summer. See
