lomenus
For the Upcoming football seasonI d like to take a step back in time...Lets honor the Greatest Quaterback of ALL-Time For all U NON believers...he did not have a running game like; Terry Bradshaw,John Elway in his last years, didn t have the Hall of Famesupporting cast of Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Otto Graham.........In his SECOND, read , 2nd year as a Pro (24 yrs old!!)he SHATTERED all time records like yards passed,TD s, etc etc etc...... in his FIRST he was selcted as the STARTING Quaterbackfor the AFC in the Pro Bowl, any other "greatest" quater back has done that? His accomplishmnets r TOO many to recite....Let this be known, Marino NEVER I mean NEVER had to "settle" into a system,he came in as a rookie n was starting mid way into his rookieseason.. n perfomed at an unparellel level for years n yearsn years.....NO "learning curve" like Montana, Favre, Elway, Bradshaw,Aikman (pffff this guy shouldnt be mentioned in all time greatplayers, he never had to carry his team), Young, etc etcLadies n gentleman I present to U DAN MARINO  PEACE MIAMI!! vicman
pppfffffftttt......and how many super bowls did he win? sorry yeah, that game against the jaguars really did him justice.#1 of all time: john elway. went to 5 superbowls, single handedly carried his team to 3 of them. won the last 2. and john elway started 11 games in his rookie season. leadership is something that numbers can't measure.and of course 47 game 4th quarter comebacks. 1 - JANUARY 11, 1987AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, CLEVELAND STADIUMDENVER 23, CLEVELAND 20 The apotheosis of Elway comebacks. "It was my coming-out party," says Elway of the drive ever after called "the Drive." With Denver trailing 20-13 and backed up to its own two, Elway paints a 98-yard, 15-play masterpiece. His five-yard touchdown pass to Mark Jackson with 39 seconds remaining sends the game into overtime, in which kicker Rich Karlis boots the Broncos into their first Super Bowl in nearly a decade. 4 - JANUARY 25, 1998SUPER BOWL XXXII, QUALCOMM STADIUM, SAN DIEGODENVER 31, GREEN BAY 24 Late in the fourth quarter with the score 24-24, Elway and the Broncos take possession at the Green Bay 49-yard line. A 23-yard swing pass to Howard Griffith puts the Broncos inside the 10 with less than two minutes remaining. Two plays later, Terrell Davis's one-yard touchdown run caps the drive, and the Broncos hold on to win their first Super Bowl title.
mangos
You're all wrong...Best QB ever --- Broadway JoeOnly reason Montana, Elway, and Marino have so many records and Superbowls (except for Marino) is they all played much longer than Namath. lomenus
NAmath??? I mnot gonna even dignify that with a resposeshame on U!as for Elway, papo get real "carry" his team??As far as I remember Elway had an "adeqaute" defenseto help his magic on the field (thats how he got to lose his first3 Super Bowls)...Marino could lead the Dolphins offense to score 100ptsn is defense (whichfor yeazzzzzz ranked below 24th, in a time when there was only 28 teams ) would contriveto give up 103...Anyone remember the Battles with the FUCKEN Jets??Sept 21 1986 in the Meadowlands?Marino throws 448yrds, and 6 , 6!!!! TDS!!!!and scores 45 points....and the Dolphin "defense" loses the game in OVER TIME!!51-45!!!! R U SERIOUS?????U wont convice me that Elway s Bronco s defense would have given up 51 points after Elway had led them to 45, or Montana s49ers defense givig up that insane amount of points...n unfortantly this was common throghout Marino s carrer...losing games 31-28, 44-34, 34-31 44-30, etc etc etc with all hose shittydefenses he still managed to win,he had the quickest realase of aLL time, the guy had the mobility of a statue, but Marinowas the hardest QB to sack in history, for christ sakesthis guy once went 19, 19!! straiht gams wihout being sacked,in an offense thats geared to drop back n throw bombs!!!Can U see Elwy, or WArner, or MOntana go through a streak like that??? PFF hahahahh!!One day in football heaven, the Football godswill give Marino his 1984 record setting offense (and oneof the GREATEST offenses in history; look it up)give him a defense of the calibre of his later daysas a Dolphin (which were LIGHT years ahead of hisprevious ones)....n Marino would outscoreEVERYONE, U remeber the 1985 Bears?? the big bad bears defense??who gave themtheir only lose??HMMMM a magical night in the Orange Bowl,DAN MARINO tourched that 46 defense, n bitch slapped themfor 38 points, if Miami hadnt lost the AFC championship gamein 1985 they would have beaten the bears in Super Bowl XX...O one last thing longevity..only Bret Farvre has started more games in a row...MARINO the GREATESTPEACE MIAMI!! Guest jroo
ok, first off all of you are forgetting that this is a team game.second off, marino did have the quickest release in football, hence the no sacks. since you guys want to play the game of naming the great quarterbacks, how come no one metioned Steve Young?? i am pretty sure that he has the highest carrer QB rating ever, and some rings. you guys do the math.its still a team game though. skince55
Like jroo said, football is a team game.Dolphins also had no decent running back to take the attention off the passing game. If Marino had Terell Davis in the backfield like Elway did, I think he would have had a damn good shot at winning a couple of Superbowls.
