This shouldn't be that tough of a decision. Both styles are completely different. If you are a person who goes to a club entirely for the music ..then this decision shouldn't be that hard.

You either like a more banging comercial sound.... or a not as banging more experimental one.

Fontaine= banging house+techouse+progressive+ even a bit of trance...more predictable type of tunes..etc

Burridge= twisted funky house+techouse, breaks, etc... more umpredictable type of set.

2 complete different choices... any of them could be good....

It all depends on your taste. I would skip crobar ...and head for nerve for sure.

Lee Rocked New York

I actually spent the weekend with my boys from urban, astroglyde, low end specialists and the man himself Lee B. up in nyc..

Saturday Lee spun a blinding 4 hours following astroglyde at the gorgeous splashlight studios.. an amazing studio facility in manhattan.. the vibe was incredible, the entire nyc electronice/dance scene was out strong.. it was one of the more music minded events I've attended in a long long time.

It is absolutely true what someone said earlier, Lee was the one whom discovered Jz and made sure Sasha, excession, and the world would be aware of his talent..

As for this weekend, it's back to the nyc for me. :)

here's a few shameless plugs for my friends:

Ekitel, i think you're confusing Commercial VS Icons. Sasha and digweed have done more for the scene than anyone else. i'm pretty much up to date in the dance music scene like a lot of other people here, but saying that S&D are commercial is kinda rediculous. Yeah everyone knows them, but why shouldn't they be known they have been around longer than a lot of other people.

guys don't forget lee burridge, he is another one that does breaks and house, he is actually one of the persons that discovered James Zabiela.

sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but anyway it's not just because they're Icons, but it's because they play a lot of typical progressive house that doesn't appeal to me, I like stuff that's more underground and much fresher, and I realize that back in the 90's prog was fresh new and underground, but now it all just sounds the same and boring, and it's very commercial, and really takes itself too seriously, the tracks are too slick, over-produced, sounding like the soundtrack for the latest hollywood sci-fi flik, with all the digital sound effects and too much reverb and delay

as far as I'm concerned all those global underground dj's are pretty commercial, danny howells, nick warren, dave ralph, dave seaman, steve lawler, etc, etc.....

now Lee manages to keep it underground, and I've heard a lot of very underground sets from Zabiela, though I really wasn't feeling his latest set on John Digweed's Kiss 100 show, a little to much of that boring proggy sound that to me is not very underground, sure it's better than candy trance and cheesy disco vocals and stuff, but it's become very commercial, actually I prefer a cheesy vocal now and then when it's selected carefully and thrown at the right time, it's just dance music ya know, no need to sound so serious and melodramatic all the time

as far as I'm concerned every new prog house track should be remixed by Infusion, seems like only they can make prog interesting anymore, Jark Prongo is cool prog too, and of course Phil Kieran rules! I wouldn't call any of his tracks prog, but they often get classified as progressive

anyway, it's all good, just friendly discussion.... :)

Well if u think about it. Since they are icons, they get to play Big tracks cause everyone sends them big tracks. If u where a DJ and people sent you 100s of records weekly, more than likely u would sounds "commercial" too. I do agree that sometimes they do crappy boring sets, but then he doesn't.

As about those DJs that u mentioned being again, they are icons not commercial, some of them are has beens that should retire, but still, you're calling Danny Howells commercial, he is another day just like lee that can't be classified in just one genre of electronic music. Steve Lawler also, he has his days where it's just BSPF, and some times he is simply amazing. To think about to your "standards" James Zabiela is also commercial, cause at the moment everyone knows him, and everyone wants a piece of him.

And trust me i have enough sets of james zabiela too. More than likely i even got a few that u don't even know that exist.

let me repeat I'm not calling them commercial because they are well known, but it's about the records they play, that bedrock prog sound which is so boring and commercial

now there are some other well known Icons that I would not call commercial, like Derrick Carter, Felix da Housecat, Josh Wink (sometimes he plays too commercial though) etc.... oh and don't forget Carl Cox!

other underground DJ's, Colin Dale, Mark Dale and Trevor Rockliffe... also Terry Francis, Eddie Richards, Mr. C...

judging by all the great records that are coming out of Germany these days there must be a whole bunch of very underground DJ's from there that I never even heard of

AGORIA!!!! now he's super fresh and underground, though getting some recognition, even did an Essential Mix a few weeks ago

I've heard a lot of good things about Danny Howells but whenever I try to give these Global Underground guys a chance I get dissapointed, so I actually haven't heard him yet, but I'll try and make it next time he's around, if I can get comped on the cover, I ain't paying $40 bones yo!

And I certainly wouldn't miss Zabiela, he's definitely one of my farvorite underground DJ's now, though he sometimes gets a little commercial, and that seems to be in conjunction with Sasha and Digs, though my original comment was more of a wise crack, I don't actually believe that those guys are trying to corrupt him, he's just a very versatile dj who can please a variety of crowds, more mainstream S&D fans, and also underground heads like me :)
