I was there last Saturday before the G.O. of Avalon and the line was almost two city blocks long when I left.I think they are B&T and the crowd is not great but they sure no how to throw a party year after year. Name any other club - good or bad - that has been in business for such a long time. I've been in the scene for yeeeaaars, and not any other ownership has had the luck for Longevity. Even the original Roxy opened when I was 14, then they changed the name to 1018 with new owners by the time I was 18. Then new ownership again, then Roxy again. Roxy is a legendary club but when it comes to a Saturday party - Peter is fierce but the majority is BOY night. I Love Me Some Boys - but the Boys at Roxy aren't on my team. Clubs Like Centro may be hot for a minute but only a minute. Centro had it going on with the crowd and the vibe on Thursdays with the Subliminal party, then they crapped on it when that party left. Nonetheless, WH is still open with the same name and the same owners.Don't be so mean. God don't like ugly. Shit always comes back to you! They are very good to their neighbors and always treat us very well so I feel the need to give back.I don't hate anyone. It is just so easy for me to go across the street. The place is like CHEERS to me.I am looking out my window right now and there is a line to the end of the block already. ianjohn Posted October 3 Report Share Posted October 3 I will have to say that out of all the venues in NYC there are 2 specific venues that have outlasted the pack and not have infinate problems with "society" I have to give Kudos to the Roxy and Webster Hall. I mean, my mom and aunt used to go to the Roxy, and my Uncle used to play Jazz @ Webster. I know that Limelight...I mean "Avalon" (It will always be Limelght to me, but Avalon doesnt deserve the name) has been around a while too.
