normluv
DJ ENVY this FRIDAY @ OXYGEN, The Palace18+, doors @ 9pmWhen you think of top mix tape DJ's, what's the first thing that usually comes to mind?If your initial answer was Cluemanati, then your second answer should and would undoubtedly be the people's choice, DJ Envy. Donned the "Mix Tape Assassin" after churning out four volumes of mix tape mayhem from artists such as Cam'ron, Beanie Siegel, Jay-Z & the Lox, he doesn't plan on stopping there. The one that brought you the "Sopranos" mix tape series and re-introduced the streets to the classic blend has a few things up his sleeve for 2002. This two-time TDK Just-O Mix Tape Award recipient has accomplished a great deal in his ten plus years of ripping turntables. Now-it's time to let the people know that there is more to this turntable technician than just spinning records.Growing up in Queens on the same block as the "Questionmark Man" DJ Clue, Envy was around to witness the true evolution of the Mix Tape Game firsthand. "I was around long enough to see Clue go from driving a little gray Sentra to driving a big body Benz. That's when I knew I had to step it up", says Envy. And that's exactly what he did. He started out by establishing his own company called BLOK Entertainment. BLOK Entertainment is an upcoming talent, management & production company founded in 1998. Envy currently serves as President and CEO. To his credit, BLOK has already produced several scorching tracks for artists such as Foxy Brown, Def Squad, Funkmaster Flex, Irv Gotti's Murderers, Fabolous, DMX and for the highly acclaimed motion picture Exit Wounds, starring DMX and Steven Segal. In addition to doing production on other projects, he showcases his creative talents on his own debut album, "DJ ENVY/DESERT STORM MIXTAPE". This album will showcase a regional all-star lineup of artists such as Jay-Z, Redman, Cam'Ron, Styles from the Lox, Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes, Rah Digga, Foxy Brown, Juvenille, Lil Wayne, Memphis Bleek, Nelly and The St. Lunatics and Desert Storm's own Fabolous, Joe Budden & Paul Cain and much more. With a cast like this, there is no doubt that this LP will be a banger not to be overlooked and by the sound of it, Envy seems to be just as enthused: "When this album drops, it's not only gonna change the mix tape game, but also the face of Hip-Hop altogether."
