He may be looking to make it that way, but if he's following is primarily gay, he may not be able to shake that. Not going to be a pessimist though.......................................let's wait and see.

The recent "buzz" about the possibility of JP showing up there has helped it I'm sure. (Although I would be surprised to see JP be anything but the main DJ every night)

What wil be the location of the place?

Official Opening date?

Anyone with strong hook-ups in there? that means REAL hookups, not the type that make me sit in line.

Honestly, the only buzz about JP going there was started by people who didnt know any facts

With Calderone there 2 saturdays, JP wont be there saturdays i assume-- and i do not know what they plan for fridays

Besides, JP deserves something where he'll be there week in and week out i think. Crobar just isnt for him at this point.

Either way lets keep this post about Crobar and how insane calderone is gonna be there.

I asked because I want to know, and NO, I dont give a fuck either. Its all good.

Not that I need to validate or substantiate my reasoning for asking this ? to anyone.....but dont misinterpret my reason for asking this. I am basically trying to get a feel for how it will be. IF the MUSIC is good, I'll be right there next to you.

I'm assuming that you were just making a general statement in regards to "opening up our minds"......I know that I for one did this a long time ago....considering that I have been going to SF for years. Trannies and gays in the same club are nothing new to me, nor does it bother me.

I didn't think so, didn't mean to imply that. I agree with you and respect you (amongst other reasons) for your taste in music....and some of the DJ's you have brought to DEKO.

I look forward to partying it up with you @ Crobar....regarless of the crowd.

A TOUR THROUGH CROBAR NYC

How about a walk-through the adjioned 4 building?

As you enter the club from 28th Street, the smoothness of your

visit begins as the overhanging metal awning you pass under on

the street continues as your ceiling into the open-air entryway.

Here it's all about fluidity, merging inside and outside.

Greeting you indoors is a floor-to-ceiling digital DNA wall

(think stacks of snazzy yet fuzzy analog TV screens-all working

together artfully or broadcasting any combo of images-sheathed

behind a two-way mirror) courtesy of design crew Art Fag.

Once you make your way past the bank-teller like cashier windows (a historical nod to NYC commerce), your roller-coaster ride begins as you head upstairs to the coat-check area which also doubles as a thrillingly changeable gallery space (expect

rotating installations from New York's brightest and freakiest).

Coat checked, you'll make your way downstairs to the first lounge

area, a swank space where tall transparent, lighted acrylic rods

turn a bar space into a Blade Runner fantasy. A long bar (topped

with the same seasoned cement you'll find on New York City park's

outdoor chess tables) anchors one wall; turn towards another and

you're drawn into a deliriously stylish round room-a lounge-space

serving as an entry into a coed bathroom accented by a bar (yes,

a bar in the powder room) behind which you can leer through

transparent chain-mail draperies into the ladies¹ room, or peer

voyeuristically through honeycomb-stacked PVC tubes into the

mens' room. So far you're only in the bathroom and the art and

drama has begun already! Now that you've primped and primed

yourself with a cocktail, time to head to the big room. Here's

where the real fun begins, as you enter a 10-foot-wide circular

tunnel‹lined with stunning white French subway tiles and anchored by a glass slab floor-where a white-noise generator provides a cleansing of your sensory palate. "You're being transported," explains Fortis, "through light, sound and space, and this momentary auditory and visual deprivation only primes you for the impact of the massive Main Room."

Then-wham!-come the aforementioned 60-foot ceilings, the light

shows, the grand scale, and a massive bar flanking the entire

west wall of the floor. Beyond the bar, expect a special lounge

area "to be designed by the skaters, painters and photographers

behind the Supreme collective," says Fortis. "Legendary

photographer Patrick McMullan may also be involved in providing

visual stimulation in the Main Room," he adds. All around the

upstairs mezzanine will be roomy seating and bungalow-like lounge areas, which will be open to all. "This is where anyone can come and have views as enviable as any VIP," says Fortis proudly.

Banquettes will be covered in slick neoprene, and one special

semi-enclosed mezzanine lounge area will be the design domain of the Heatherette fashion mavens, Richie Rich and Traver Rains.

"We're planning on having a heart-shaped entryway," offers Rains. "And inside expect lots of lush red and pinks... like a big

vagina!" laughs Rich.

Back down the wide steps towards the main dance floor, VIPs can

veer left across the wide balcony overlooking the main floor and

head through the two-way mirrored walls into one of the club's

most delectable spaces, the VIP Room (which is, of course, also

accessible via a completely separate outer entrance). This

5,000-square-foot lounge will boast a "Barbarella-meets-

60s-ski-lodge feel", says Fortis. Banquettes flank walls accented

by fluidly shaped alcoves, perfect for projections or performers

to perch in. ³These will be like upholstered cubby holes," adds

Fortis, "on different levels all around, and be backlit like

little stages." Oh the drama... The center of the room is

anchored by a bar, and photographer Dah Len is currently working on large-scale imagery to flank the entryway. From inside the VIP room, scenesters can watch the action outside on the main floor, but enjoy the sounds of their own DJ inside. Performers can rule in this posh space while another entirely separate party rages outside. "The vibe will be very much a club within a club," promises Fortis. We can't tell you too much about the more secret Ultra-VIP lounge. It's reserved for the most private get-togethers for gatherings of 40 to 70 of your nearest and dearest. (Call to book it now, A-listers...)

And that should serve to get you primed. A massive but human main room dance floor space. Brilliantly accommodating mezzanine

bungalow lounges affording commanding views of the big room. A

cozy yet cosmopolitan VIP lounge. Futuristic and comfy coed

bathroom lounges. Design dens courtesy of Heatherette and Supreme (and possibly As Four), and a constantly rotating roster of art installations everywhere. This is not going to be a pallid

techno-fueled dance den; Crobar is looking to be a artsy,

nightlife playground merging high and low cultures, blending gay

and straight, grand spectacle and comforting intimacy, drama,

madness and fun.

:D
