Regardless of his "financial ties" he still has friends in that company. Also, I wonder if they make any campaign contributions - this is a real question, not rhetorical.

the WSJ reported this figure today:

Halliburton gave out $708,770 between 1998 and 2002; 95% went to the GOP.

Bush received around $18k

as for the options, i believe he got rid of them when he became VP. the only compensation he receives is his rightfully earned pension.
